Diamonds in the rough- I am stuck!

Hello everyone,

I sort of expected this to happen as I read others getting stuck here and there during this nice game I am stuck at the moment and I keep going around and around and can not figure out what to do next. I just talked to Henry in his room about the plan, but I can´t get the yellow folders as both the doc and William are in their office. I can´t figure out how to enter the warehouse or how to get a bottle of liquor to knock off the receptionist. Hmm I also need to change a light bulb , but Jason does not want to write a note to put in the mailbox to request a new bulb. I did get the note in the bird´s house and I have the lighter fluid in my inventory, but now what to do next? What is the next step? I have no intention to use a walkthrough as I know you guys will point me in the right direction in the most subtle way possible...

There could be many things to unstick you and itsa question of trying all and elimination.for instance

No I noticed nothing new in the bar except half a drink left on the table...nothing else. Should I have noticed something? Does the game progress in a linear fashion or can you do things in a random order? Also aren´t spoilers expected in the hint section or do we have to use the spoiler tags?

Are you sure there's nothing at the back of the bar near the toilet door.

I have no thought about the the light bulb at all... I will go back and check the toilet door near abouts and see if there is anything new...

Sounds you need that bulb.have you been into the store room you should have a thought

The game is somewhat linear, meaning unless you have done what is needed, or collected the items you need, you won't get a chance to get the liquer, simply because you wouldn't be able.

Yes the bulb is in the store room...I have examined it and tried to take it too, but no thought appeared.

Hi jedi valius, the game is to some extent non-linear! I don't think it's just the light bulb holding you up but for that you need to try 'looking' at stuff in your store cupboard. Have you also had a good look in all the rooms in your apartment & picked up everything? If that doesn't help can you post a little more about what you've already done.

Hi Chrissie, I have tried to look at stuff in the store room but Jason just says the bulb is fried: no new thought is being added though. In the house I picked up the notebook and the pen in the drawers in Jason´s bedroom. I have the secret note from the bird house as well and the lighter fluid. I have just talked to Henry about the plan in his room.

Have you looked at the desk in the attic

You must do somethuing in the storeroom and you must geta thought about it.that can be done any time even right at the begin of the game.

Try clicking on the light bulb again!

If you already looked (eye icon) the bulb you will have a new thought about it...

Hey Nikolas, yes had I had a thought about the bulb I would have already applied it to the mailbox as that was already my main intention.

Hey guys: I tried examining the bulb, taking the bulb and I clicked on about 4 or 5 things in the store room always getting the same reply about the bulb being fried. I am not sure what I am doing wrong or not doing to be honest...I´ll get back into the game now and try to re-click on the bulb and things in the storeroom. I´ll get back to you in 5 to let you know if anything changed!

Click on the shelves... and did you pick up the notepad and the pen... You need them...

Ok here is how it happened...I clicked on the light bulb with the eye icon (examine) and tried to take the light bulb (hand icon) to change it and the examined all things in the storage room and no thought appeared , even though Jason mentioned several times that the bulb was fried. THEN when I tried to take something in the store room with the hand icon, only then the thought appeared about changing the light bulb. I think this was very peculiar as the thought should have occurred to Jason as soon as he saw the bulb was not functional... instead I had to try and grab something in the room before he realized the bulb should be changed. Jason is a bit thick then hehe

Volkana: yes I did but I think that particular part was a bit hard to figure out and went against my common sense...if I see a bulb is out, I would get a thought about changing it without the need for me to touch or try to grab things in the room hehe But yes I am past that now! Thanks for your help!

I did get stuck again just after solving the bulb thing! I don´t know why this often happens to me like one stuck moment calls another! hehe However I did manage to find the key and the matchbox. The info on the matchbox seems pretty important but no new thought came up about it...I went around and talked to people, checked if the offices were empty (they weren´t) and found a bucket and mop in the bar. I am not sure what to do next but I feel embaressed to ask for help already again so soon! Maybe I am just too impatient or a bad player

Yes or the thought should come when you examine the shelves in the room and see that it is too dark to see...

Hi jedi valius, I did mention earlier that you needed to search your apartment - there may be a couple of things you missed? Also don't forget the note from the birdhouse .....

CHrissie, I already have the note and noticed the scribbled note on the matchbox as well. From the house I picked up the notebook, pen and scissors.

Hi Nikolas, I do so dislike it when you can pick up things only when you need them and not before! There may be many ways to get the liquor and distract the bartender...not to everyone would occur to mix two liquids to create a fume and then put it in the bucket ! LOL Oh well guess I will have to re-check every room and every item from now on to see whether they can be picked up.. thanks for your help!

As for the spoilers tag, I am not sure whether they are needed here as it is already a hint thread? Maybe one of the moderators can answer that?

Hi jedi valius, you can pick up items in this game as you come across them - you don't have to wait until you need them but you do need to explore everything! If you have done this & have items in inventory, which incidentally you can click on for a description which helps, sometimes the way to go becomes more obvious than you think.

I repeateadly asked whether spoiler tags were necessary or not in the hint thread as I saw a lot of people not using spoiler tags in hint threads and no mention about the use of spoiler tags is given in the info file about the hint thread, so no I am not trying to spoil the game for anyone! I am surprised by your accusatory tone. I can´t believe anyone in this forum would ever want to spoil a game for anyone else......

The spoiler tag is based on the threads too.
If a single poster has the thread, usually it is not necessary and is based on what the member asks.
If it is a 'common' thread with other members postings, it is recommended that a spoiler tag is used because several members do use that thread for their questions.
