I am currently battling with the wire puzzle and just cannot get my head around it, it's beyond infuriating! I have managed the first Bento puzzle, where you get a spotty shape and can access the avatar programme on Yumi's computer. Because I got stuck on the wire puzzle I progressed in other areas so I've gone to the point in the walkthrough where I need to speak to Savannah but obviously I can't because of the wire puzzle. I am up to the following in the walkthrough "If you send enough made avatars to all your friends' phone number, you might get an award. Check your phone list for the numbers."

Is there anyone who has a savegame with the wire puzzle done at this point in the game? I am playing Senior Detective on Vista by the way.

All the saves I have, both Junior & Senior, have the wire puzzle completed before any of the Bento puzzles, unfortunately. I'd be happy to send you a Senior save if you don't mind redoing the Bento, otherwise let's wait and see if anyone has a save in the order of play which you mention.

Wow that's really kind of you! I'm recovering from ankle surgery at the moment and very incapacitated much of the time so games are helping me to keep going! I'll try and sort out the email in the next few minutes.

Hi Rose,

Be on the same path as the cherry tree is, and be as close to the tree as possible but facing towards the shed. The lantern is just a click or two ahead of you now, on the left side, and the rock should be by that.

I am in the garden, and I think I am at the right bamboo-water structure, the WT says Nancy comments that it looks like the image on the letter, the WT says to look close at the bamboo post at left and she needs a right tool.

Well, she says nothing, and when I go to the shed, Rentaro is there.

Can someone help me, I must be in the wrong place, so where do I go?

The bamboo water feature is the one where the tube of bamboo slowly fills up with water, then tips down and empties.

When you folded the origami in the cultural room, did Nancy comment that the completed piece resembled a bamboo? If not, then you'll need to re-fold the paper until she does so.

Yes, you'll need that piece of paper for a puzzle at the end of the game; you won't be able to do anything with it just yet.

How do I use the computer with the password, when I go to the computer, and I try to press the keys, nothing happens, what comes up is what was there.

Rose -- you're playing from one of my saves where the gameplay doesn't follow the walkthrough. I believe the computer has already been accessed with the password so you don't need to worry about that part. Check the tasklist to be sure.

The skeleton key which opens certain doors in the hotel is in the wall cabinet behind the Reception desk. Have you seen that puzzle?

Hoping someone can help me-I'm playing ND 23 and I'm at the part where I am supposed to be able to piece together the picture messages from Yumi, however I only have 6 color pictures and nopthing I seem to do seems to trigger another one showing up? Nancy has already commented on printing out the pictures and I have done that, but without the 7th pic can't trigger the puzzle- anyone else have this issue?

Its driving me crazy, any suggestions?

Call Yumi or visit Yumi. Also check your To Do list.

I have spoke to and called Yumi several times, as well as change the day and ride back and forth on the train many times as well. When I call Yumi I just get a message saying she is not there, when I talk to her the only options are to offer her a phone charm, do more bento or leave. (All of which I have also done) The only other picture I have is the one that produces the Easter Egg. I do not have a To Do list as I am playing at the Senior level...I am beginning to think its a glitch as I thought Nancy was not supposed to comment or want to print the pictures until you have all 7!? Wondering if I may have to resort to a savegame to get past it- very aggravating!

Hi Joyous, I have a save game just past this puzzle if you want it -- but it is Junior level. Would that be ok for you?

Would it change the game that much from senior to junior? I'm a pretty hardcore adventure gamer, so I prefer it to be not too easy! However, if no one has one at the Senior level I may have no choice.

I sent you the nearest senior saved game I have - that is when the picture puzzle is done.

So you should have a key in inventory. Check it please.

The only thing on the checklist that Nancy says is not done is Savannah's room

Scroll through inventory then and look for a with a tag (like a hotel key).
Also look for the star keycard.

It's only if you want to keep your own progress within the game and not be confused by another's gameplay. If you're not worried about that, then it doesn't matter and we can send you a save. You weren't specific about requesting a save, which is what made me wonder what help you wanted.

To make a screenshot, go into the puzzle and press the PrintScrn button at top right of your keyboard. Save the game. Exit out of the game, go into your PC's Paint program and paste the image there. Save the image as a JPEG, then either upload to a photo-sharing website such as Photobucket and link to it here, or e-mail the image to me. Then we can solve the puzzle for you and advise the solution.

The screenshot you e-mailed to me doesn't have the cat -- that section is blanked out. It has bear. Your puzzle has obviously reset itself and is a different one now. Did you save the game while you were in close-up, at the time you took the screenshot?

At any rate, I'm going to send you an existing save game for this puzzle, at least that'll get you moving in the game.

The Good news I completed the 1st Bento puzzle & obtained an apt. key.

The Not -so good news: I need a saved game for a completed Bento game: In order to receive "The password to YUMI's computer; W/ instructions on how to save it to my game folder on my XPS.

PS: if I need more Bento puzzles to be completed just send them as separate saves & label them.
ie: Bento-password etc.

hi. im having trouble with the avitar pass word. i keep putting the correct password in to the right spot. it will not let me do that. is there somthing that i need to do before it will work?

Did Yumi give you the password? Double check that you have the correct color balls inside the lines.

Oh it's just that the task list has "senior i don't need to ask this" in it ?

The junior and senior are the same except for some puzzles early in the game. They should be the same from the Master Sudoku on and possibly the last Bento puzzle.

I am a bit mystified by the lattice puzzle,I was sure I did it correctly but nothing happened when I finished...the x's didn't change.Am I doing something wrong?

I didn't use the X's at all when I solved that puzzle. The X's are only for marking squares you are unsure of. Turn the X's back to shaded squares and see if that works.

Hi Everyone,

I have a suggestion about the bento puzzles. The only way I was able to complete them without asking for a saved game was to "save my game" just before talking to Yumi. Then when she gave me the bento puzzle, if it was to hard, I loaded my saved game. Because the bento puzzles are random, I would continue to load my saved game till I got one I could complete.

Hope this helps some of you.

hello. im having a problem with opening the package with the book in it but i need the key to get in the ladys room for the kettle . i know where the key is but cant get it out of the water. i cant use saved games as my computer cant do it.
some where im missing somthing. im following your walk through.thanks

What package with the book? Is this Savannah's book? If so, when you pick the package at the front desk, it should be open in inventory.

As for the key, you can pick it up if you go down to the water.
Cross the bridge with the shed on your back.
Immediately turn around and be under the bridge.

Ah - what OS does your saved game have? If you can play the game, the computer should take the saved game.

mag, the book that savannah wrote was not open in my inventory. My husband tried to do what you folks said to do and my saved game would not open. the saved game was on my screen but would not open. it came on for a second but went off. Im sorry, i dont know what OS means. i guess im a dinasaur on the computer. thanks !

hi maG. you asked what my computers was. one is windows 7 and the other is xp. if you could send me a save for the bentos id appreciate it.i ended up starting over as the package was a password and savannahs book never did show up. i love the game but thoses darn bento games mess up my playing the game. you would really make my day dear if you could show me how to load a saved game.

Also - I can explain the installation if your Nancy Drew game is installed in the XP computer.

I remember having to leave the Ryokan completely and go to another location for a while -- check your tasklist, see if there's anything that needs doing somewhere else, or go speak to Yumi, perhaps -- then return, and when you enter the Reception area Miwako should call you over to the desk.

I am stuck at the wooden bird picture in Savannah's room. I can't seem to click it. I have talked to everyone completely, including Savannah. I am wondering if there is anything that I may have missed. I read the WT to make sure but haven't found anything that I may have missed... I am hoping my game didn't glitch.

When you spoke to Savannah, do you definitely recall her mentioning the picture and the secret passage? Have you moved your cursor over all of the picture to find the active spot -- it may be lower down?

I am fairly certain Savannah mentioned the picture, but I have been trying to figure out what's wrong for a while and can't be sure. I have her book and know I talked to her before the balcony puzzle, which I solved.
I have moved my cursor around the whole screen when facing the picture. lllorz

If you're playing junior level, check your tasklist to see if the bird picture/passage is mentioned as a To Do. If it isn't, then you still need to trigger that dialogue with Savannah.

Alternatively, might you have already clicked on the picture without realising it and the passage is now open? Standing in front of the picture turn to your left and check the closet door directly in front of you, just to the right of the room entryway.

I am actually playing senior.
I faced the picture and turned to the left, but it is still just the closet.

Another member in an older thread mentioned getting stuck at this point also. The cause for her was not looking at all the room records on the computer -- there's more than one page of records to click through. Once she'd done that, the bird picture became active.

If that doesn't do the trick -- would you like a saved game with the passage door opened? I only have Junior saves, though. Let us know.

I checked both pages of guests. Maybe I have to put something back, like the kettle (although I tried that already).

I usually prefer senior, but I think I read a previous post that said they are the same after a certain point. Does that include the puzzles?

Yes, Junior and Senior are identical in most areas -- the only difference being the difficulty of a couple of the puzzles.

Many players prefer Junior because of the useful task list feature.

I guess I will take the junior saved game then. I kind of don't want to redo somethings.

I sent you a senior saved game after the collar is taken at the pachinko paror. Check the walkthrough to see what is still to be done. That saved game works with the picture in the room.
