Still Life 2--no call from Claire at house (charred door) - 08/08/13 12:51 AM
Hi, all.
I'm royally stuck and don't know what to do. The electronics expert is working on the panel next to the charred door, and I think I'm waiting for Claire to return my call about the documents. Everything in my kit is 100% except for the militia insignia is at 50% (no options for further analysis), and one of the clues from the killer is at 66%--not sure if this is right.
I've looked at a few walkthroughs, but I can't seem to figure out what I'm missing/have done wrong. I have the boom box speaker, lock pick, electronic key, some sort of power cord, a sponge (used on the license already) and I think that's it. If there's something else, I can't remember. I used the rope on the dumbwaiter, too. I've found all rooms of the house.
This is driving me bonkers, so if someone could please send some light--or a save right after--I'd be very appreciative!

I'm wondering if this is where you are in the game, because if it is, apparently the game can be a little glitchy here:
When you click on the topic "Charred Door Electronic Lock," a cutscene will take Garris and Victoria to that door. Garris will tell Victoria that it will take him a while to open that door. But don't wait for him to do so because he won't be "able" to until after you have finished some more examination around the house. So, as soon as you regain control of the game, click on him and talk to him about the "Electronic Lock in the Stairwell." Another cutscene will then take both Garris and Victoria to that Blue Door. A brief dialog will follow. Garris will then go back to the Charred Door and, it seems, Victoria stays by the Blue Door. But there seems to be a technical bug in the game here because the camera remains on Garris, indicating Victoria is also with him; but then, you won't actually see Victoria there. Don't worry about this bug though. Just click on the Footprint icon on the stairs to see Victoria down in the Main Hallway. Click on the Cellar Door to return to the landing by the Blue Door.
Let me know if this is where you are in the game and if it all pertains to your problem.

At MaG: I don't see the save game--was it send to my e-mail?
At Marian: Oye, that was quite the read. It did take me to a cutscene of them at the door, but whenever I try to talk to him, he always says he needs "more time." I was able to move around after the cutscene, though.

My mail server here is At&t and they are sloooow. Check again in a few minutes. I get my mails 30 to 1 hour after it is sent.

Oh, my. Okay, I'll keep checking. Do either of you know how long it usually takes Claire to call back?
I feel silly...I don't know where the saves for Still Life 2 are kept. I have Windows 7. I see the folder in the computer/x86 section, but I don't recognize/see my saves.

I can't remember if the saved game folder is in the "ext-save" folder that inside the installed game-still Life 2 folder or in My Documents.
Check both My Documents or Still Life 2 folder.

Hopefully there won't be any other glitches. I did find some of the clues in an odd order, I'm guessing it somehow glitched it out trigger-wise.

yeah,i am stuck at this too,never got a response from claire. Could i recieve the save game of when the charred door gets opened (i got an english steam version of the game)

i will test it now,keep in mind your file was named "file"._zip ,had to change the ._zip into .zip for it to even be usable =P.
"EDIT:got it working and i'm glad i am able to move on,thanks! (i played post mortem and the first still life (its sequel)...so i am exited to continue. I was also glad that i got a resolution for the first game after opening the door (which was my favorite of the two))"

I'm in the same situation. stuck in front of this charred door . did everything never get claire to call me for the second time.
