Sam and Max Hit the Road

Sam and Max Hit the Road - 04/20/14 05:13 AM

Hi, I've discovered that I can set up a Nexus 7 to play ScummVM games. (Great setup, by the way). BUT one of the games I'm trying to play through is Sam and Max Hit the Road. There is no way I can beat the "Whack a Rat" game. (I'm nearly 70 years old and have bad arthritis in my hands). But, I really(!) don't want to have to give up on this game. Anyone have a saved game from right after you won the Whack a Rat game that you could send to me?

Also, does anyone know if you can switch saves from the same game running on multiple devices all running SCUMMVM (I have at least 3 devices I can potentially use for SCUMMVM)? E.g., can I a load a saved game from a tablet onto a PC and have it work on interchangeably?

Many thanks folks.

Here's some saved games.

Hope that works with your game.

As for the tech questions. It is best if you post at our Glitches forum. They can help you better. Good luck.

Hi MaG,

Thanks so much for sending those saves. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get them to work with:

SCUMM or DOSBOX (on two different tablets) nor on desktop PCs (2 of them). But I notice they have filenames such as "savegame.001, "savegame.002," etc. None of the saves that the saves I could spontaneously generate as a first check to see what the savename looked like (in SCUMM or DOSBOX) had such names. They all were something like samnmax.001 or the like. Nothing as straight-forward as savegame.001

Do you know what's going on here? If there a way to rename your saves to make them compatible with one of the apps i tried?

Many thanks,

Ray

Ray,

It would be best to ask the experts at Glitches forum. They know more about Scumm and Dosbox.luck

Well I thought it you be polite to let you know I finally got your saves working. I forgot you need to replace ALL the saves -- I was just replacing about the 3rd one. So, it's working perfectly now on a PC desktop now under DOSBOX. Now if I can just figure out how to get it to work under DOSBOS on a Nexus 7 tablet -- my original goal. Again, thanks for your help.
