Dracula 3 The Path of the Dragon - 07/04/16 08:06 PM

Hi Marian and MaG. Happy 4th of July!

Been trying not to bother you with this game. Looked up an old thread from 2009 for help with the book puzzle as I remember needing help with it before. Am still stuck though in Budapest trying to open up the safe. The old combination does not work anymore. It showed the word Dracula on it now so I have been trying every 7 letter word I can think of that might apply (such as vampire and serpent). Cannot figure this puzzle out for some reason and am wondering this: Is there some other clue to this puzzle that I have missed? Or, do I not need to open it again? (In which case, how do I find the wax cylinder?)

Thanks for any help you can give me.

No problem. We'll try to help if we can.

Is this the first time you're trying the safe-strong box?
If so - Click-hold-turn any dial and see that the rotation is loud. Father Arno has enhanced hearing now.
Listen to the sound of the turning of the dial. A distinct click will sound when the correct letter is in position.

No MaG. This is the 2nd time.
Thanks.

If this is Budapest, day 5:

Think about where you got the code from the first time you opened the safe, and take it from there. smile

Happy Fourth to you too, but not that great so far for me - just got a series of calls saying we were on pre-evacuation alert from a fire. Happily, though, now they are saying that it's okay and that the fire has been contained. Hopefully the rest of the day will improve. zombie

OMG Marian. I would absolutely hate to be in that position to have to evacuate for any reason. I'll hope and pray for you that the fire stays contained. That is too scary!!

Yes, this is Budapest day 5. The first time I was able to hear when it landed on the right combination. Now that does not work (unless I need to listen for a different sound?). I will go back in the game and try that again.

Thanks.

Marian,
Take care about that fire near you. Please keep us posted. Thanks.

oldbroad,
Try to remember the code you used the first time. Look for the reason why that code was used and to what it should change to.

Re: Dracula 3 The Path of the Dragon - 07/04/16 10:27 PM

If I'm not mistaken the code translates to 1820. I have looked for any reference to that but didn't find anything. The only reason I know of why it was used, is because that's what I heard. Do I have the number wrong?

Re: Dracula 3 The Path of the Dragon - 07/04/16 10:36 PM

Correct - 1820. The clue is not in the office.

Thanks MaG. I'll try to go through all my documents yet again if I can stay awake. I can't leave the office so I hope it's in the docs somewhere.

Can you not exit just outside the office door?

Re: Dracula 3 The Path of the Dragon - 07/05/16 02:05 AM

Yes, I can get "just outside the office door". Did you hear that loud scream I just let out? I wasted all day on this puzzle as well as some time last night.

Thank you so much for your help MaG!

Re: Dracula 3 The Path of the Dragon - 07/06/16 10:47 PM

I am trying to get electricity to Martha/Maria's house. I used the copper I found. My 2 questions are: 1) Is there a clue as to the positioning or is it just trial and error? 2) Do I have to keep running outside to check if the electricity is on or will I know somehow (Arno will say something or something)?

I've already been at it awhile using the trial and error method but NOT going out to check and I'm not getting anywhere so far and I am forgetting what I've tried and not tried even though I start out with some plan in mind.

Thanks.

oldbroad,

The placement of the copper wire to ONE specific place - gives electricity to a certain location only (not the whole area).

Take the copper wire from a slot/place that you don't think you need to check or can wait for later.
Then place it on an empty place that you think you can find some clues.

Re: Dracula 3 The Path of the Dragon - 07/06/16 11:26 PM

So, it is trial and error and I have to run back and forth from the shed to the house to see if the electricity is on?

Re: Dracula 3 The Path of the Dragon - 07/06/16 11:39 PM

I do remember doing that. lol
If there's a clue - I missed it. frown

Just wanted to let you know I finished this game but mostly with the use of your walkthrough MaG. It would have taken way too long to finish the game by trying to get hints from you and probably frustration for both of us. Besides, you put a lot of effort into the walkthroughs so they should get used.

Thank you!

Oldbroad,

Glad you finished and hopefully enjoyed the game. yay
Please don't hesitate to ask for hints - that's what we're here for. If we can help - we will. Also there are other gamers that can jump in to help us.

Re: Dracula 3 The Path of the Dragon - 07/11/16 07:26 PM

I tend to use the walkthrough more than hints if I don't care for a game so much. A game I like, I would rather play as much as possible by myself. Getting hints is more satisfying than using the walkthrough, so don't worry, I will be back asking for hints when I need/want them. yes
