I'm having a hard time getting Zep to crack the nuts that he got from Amber. My aim isn't very good. Is there an easy way to get it done?

I'm having a hard time getting Zep to crack the nuts that he got from Amber. My aim isn't very good. Is there an easy way to get it done?

I took a look at the walkthrough and it says this (pay particular attention to the last sentence):
Have you tried doing this in easy mode?
