Barrow Hill Save Game

Barrow Hill Save Game - 10/29/17 02:44 PM

I played the Barrow Hill game with two save slots yesterday and then quit the game.

Now when I restart the game those save slots are blank. Is there some place the saved games
are that I can access so I don't have to restart the game and what is the right way to
save the game and restart?

Thanks,

Robert

I assume you are talking about Barrow Hill: The Dark Path?

Someone on the Steam forum posted that the saved games are located here:

Look in \Users\Username\Saved Games\

I haven't played the game, so hopefully another player will be able to answer the rest of your questions.

Yes, I just checked and that's where my saved games are too.

To save, just move your cursor to the top of the screen and when Menu shows up, click on it and then click on Save. I think you have to select one of the save game slots and the OK or Save or something like that.

This is the first Barrow Hill game - so the saves may be a little different from the Dark Path game.

I have the first Barrow Hill game installed on my Windows 7 computer and the game is located in ProgramFilesX86 in a folder named Barrow Hill - I can see the saved games in there.

According to MaG's walkthrough:

Quote:
The main menu can be accessed at top left of screen during gameplay. There are 10 saved game slots which can be overwritten. The refresh selection is for updating the saved game list when a saved game file is added manually to the game folder.

I found where the saved games are but they're all dated when I first installed the game - a few years ago.

When I save any point in the game it brings me back to the first save point no matter where I am
in the game even though I save it further into the game and select that point to load.

If I quit the game all the saved points are lost and I have to start over. I am using Windows 10
if that makes a difference.

I guess I need to know the exact steps for saving and loading a game and quitting so I don't lose
the saved points.

Thanks,

Robert

I haven't played the game yet, so I just did a test run. It's really straightforward and I think something else is going on, as I don't think you are doing anything wrong.

To save a game, I brought up the menu, clicked on save, then I clicked on the clipboard, and the game was saved with the location, date, and time. To load a game, I brought up the menu, clicked on load, and then clicked on the save listed on the clipboard that I wanted to return to.

To quit, I brought up the menu and clicked on quit to exit the game.

I made a total of 4 saves and they all worked.

I just found this online, and I think that this might be your problem:

Quote:
Q: How to run Barrow Hill on Windows Vista or Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10.
A: To run Barrow Hill on later Windows versions, install the game to the Documents folder or a Games folder on your root drive, and Not Program Files, to allow save game features.

Where did you install the game to?

For some reason the saved games are working for me in ProgramFilesX86, but apparently this is not always the case. Try installing the game in your Documents folder. In fact, I will probably uninstall my game and install it to Documents, just in case I run into this problem later on. Normally when I try to play an older game I install it to the Documents folder to avoid the kind of potential problem mentioned above, but in this case I just forgot!

I just tried my first Barrow Hill game which is located in ProgramFilesX86 on my Windows 10 Pro too and the Save feature works just fine. I'd sure give uninstalling the game and reinstalling in Documents a try just in case though.

Thanks for trying that, Drac.

My game is installed in the ProgramFilesX86 folder.

I will install it on my other PC in the Documents folder and let you know how I make out.

The game was originally on my HP laptop (which has been running really slow lately - but that's another problem.)
I uninstalled it and reinstalled it to the ProgramFilesX86 folder and it is running ok now.

Something must have been wrong with the original installation. Another odd thing is that I'm not getting
a full screen on the laptop.

I decided to install it on my desktop were it is full screen and the system is running better than my laptop.

Again, as is usual on this forum, thanks for all the great help.
