how to save in Sam and Max hit the road

I have played this game many times before and didn't have a problem but now am playing on a different laptop and can't remember how to save the game. I got it from GOG. Help please!

It can vary depending on your laptop.
I think the GOG version uses ScummVM, but I'm not sure.
Anyway, try one of the suggestions here

Might need Fn key combined with F1 or F5 key on a laptop.
