Journey to the Center of the Earth camera does not work

I don't know if this is a technical issue, a game bug, or if I am doing something wrong with this old game.

System is WinXP SP3 and the game was installed from the CD. The camera is in my inventory and the computer, when on, should be able to display any photos I've taken with the camera. When I click "use" on the camera, nothing happens. If I select the camera and pan over the screen, I can't get anything to happen.

There is nothing in the docs included with the CD nor in any Walkthrough that indicates how or if the camera can be used. As the game seems to be working correctly with WinXP, I don't think there is an OS problem. There are newer versions of binkw32.dll than is included on the CD but as everything else works, I don't think that is an issue.

Has anyone been able to use the camera and if so how?

I just played this game and I don't believe you actually "take pictures". Some pictures will appear in your computer (under the appropriate tab) as the game progresses. I can't actually remember if you'll even know when they're taken. I was a little confused with this also. Just keep checking in the computer whenever it shows there is something new to look at in there.

The first picture I have in my game is in the Mushroom Forest.

I played the GOG download version which did have some differences than the disc but I don't know if anything was different with the camera/photos.

Clearly this should have been mentioned in the instructions that come with the game as "use" does not seem to work with the camera.

You're welcome! I hope you like the game. I did, but moving Ariane around gets tiresome as she does not always go where you want her to go.
