Long time bothered any one but have decided to go back in time with the above game— from steam,
I cannot get the captions to work, nor does anything I try to do so wonder if I have missed something in the beginning,
I am very ancient so please make it simple if possible— thank you.- Peter

Peter, I found this discussion at Steam. It appears subtitles only appear in the uncut version.

On this page, it states the following about the uncut version (so Draclvr is correct):
