riven-i'm stuck and stumped

am almost at the end of riven, where in order to get into the linking book dome you have to arrange 5 sliders on a thing that looks like a ruler, marked off in 5 sections, each divided into 5 smaller sections. i have the correct riven numbers from the series of 5 numbers in catherine's journal, translated into 2,1,2,1,3. am asuming you move the first slider 2 notches from the first line, and so on. i've tried several times, backwards and forwards but nothing works. did i miss something?? (nothing more about this in steve metzler's or mike marcelais walkthru) thanks in advance for anyone's help <img border="0" alt="" title="" src="graemlins/woozy.gif" />

Riven...my favorite game...

The numbers in Catherine's journal are for the telescope. The numbers you need for the sliders are in Gehn's journal in his lab on Crater Island (the island with the frog catcher).

Each line in the slider is a number. I believe it goes from 1-25. All the fire domes use the same numbers.
