Color challenged in Cydonia

I am at my wit's end trying to decipher the color puzzle underwater in the control center. I cannot tell blue from violet, etc. I am only sure of white. Green may be yellow, yellow may be orange , and blue and violet look the same. Any hints on how to tell them apart? Is yellow the orangey shade or is it orange. Is red the blotchy orange-red shade? The walkthru doesn't even mention white! Help!!

Mary, I assume you're using the picture from the walkthrough here at GameBoomers. I don't remember having any problem here--do you have your display set for the recommended number of colors? Or is there somewhere on your monitor that you can adust the color settings?

If all else fails, send me a save and I'll reinstall the game and see if I can figure it out...

Is this the inverted triangle that flashes three colours, which you then have to key into the alien keypad? If it is, you probably need to install the patch for this game - most people can't get through this part without the patch.

I thought it was the puzzle that looks like a starfish, with about six or seven different colors. But the patch might help that one too.

Just one caution, Mary--some patches will erase your saved games when you install them, so before you download a patch, move your saves into a different folder. After the patch is installed, you can move them back...

I think this patch leaves saves alone, but you're right Jenny, better to be safe than sorry.

The patch does nothing for the spiral colour puzzle near the end of the game though.

I did both - downloaded a patch and changed the color setting and it worked. Thanks for the help, I was becoming very frustrated.
