Journey to the Center of the Earth -after gettingout of Peter's prison

Hi again,
I hate to admit it but I've forgotten what I did to get to the beach in the first place...so now that I've used the rope + steel rod to get out of Peter's prison, I can't find the "opening framed by statues" mentioned in the walkthrough. Can anyone tell me where to go to find it?? Thanks.

Just to add - the opening framed by the statue is the one you opened doing the seal puzzle.
