Ripper - tape recorder? - 06/14/02 06:18 AM

I am at the point where I need to edit a tape of Dr. Burton's voice to open a voice lock. I've talked to the doc and have been to the library to get the voice edit software, but...um....where is my tape recorder? Am I supposed to plug the voice edit software into a computer somewhere? I am clueless <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="confused.gif" /> .

Hi Scully wave
Until I figure out how to run my game again mad I'll check my copy of Prima's Secrects........
**Inferno goes over to her bookshelf and dusts off her copy. (aaaachoo!) Opens a well worn copy of Prima Secrets...**

Now let's see. rolleyes ..you must be in the"restricted area" of the Meta-Cog. If you read Catherine's journal, it will tell you that this area has a "voice lock". Catherine reminds herself to go to the "Virtual Library" to get the "audio editor"...You'll get the same clue if you speak with Soap Beatty. Then go to the Library and Talk with the Librarian.

So now you should have the voice editor (can't remember where you put it??? You didn't put it anywhere. laugh ...The Library is in Cyberspace right??

Now you need something to edit...Find the good Doc. Where is she? Who would have that info at the Metacog??? Maybe the Receptionist??? Go There and ask all the questions you can...Then go back to the Metacog.

Go to the Voice locked door. eek Open your WAC and select "sound sample". You should hear Dr Burton's voice. ***

That probably will point you in the right direction
let me know if you need more help.

Thanks all (especially to you again Inferno). The tape recorder is a part of your W.A.C. (which stands for.....I still don't know what) and is automatically activated when you approach Dr. Burton (who is STILL on the treadmill!).

The voice editing software from the library was a CD in your database, not your inventory, and I could not figure out how to manipulate it. But it appears to be only a trigger item; i.e., all you have to do it have it and your W.A.C. will run it for you.

I read some previous posts on how difficult it was to correctly edit the sample because the game was so precise on how it wanted the end result. Well......I got it on the first try! I guess the past few years of editing .wav files at home came in handy!
