Mystery of the Druids-maze

Ok. I have consulted a walkthrough and got through this maze. My question though is there any logical solution to this maze. Do the symbols on the wall mean anything. Has anyone actually reasoned a way through this?

Your objective is to reach the bottom floor of the cave by choosing the correct doorways. A runic symbol and lanterns are the only markings on each balcony.
There are no clues to be found within the game itself. Since you have not been provided with a rune code, it is impossible to know what each represents.
