Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/25/05 08:42 PM

When I first started the floating mtn i went up the floating stairs and found several balls, then I went into Amalia's cabin, down to Ur Werk. Nothing works for me down there. I cannot re-spawn, move levers and if I "fall" the screen goes black and I have to get completely out of the game. Now when I start the game, I go directly to Ur Werk and nothing works. I have collected no balls and go directly to Ur Werk. I can collect the first ball above the cauldron, but nothing in Ur Werk works for me. What am I doing? Need I delete the saved file and start completely over?

Ah, the Gears of Urwerk, so much fun.....
We made it a Fellowship of the Quest to play and write up a WT, last year.
There are only save spots, the pulsars, within each relm. The only true saves are after you complete each world/relm(ten PB's). wink
Welcome tvoe123! welcome
I will check this out. smile
Question: You had no problems on first few worlds and collected all ten PB'S on each? laugh

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/26/05 03:16 AM

Hi Tvoe123, Welcome!

I think you should leave the world and start it over (not the whole game). If you leave, you will be able to go back to that world from the entrance hall.

The reason I say to do this, is because if you got some of the balls already up on the mountain and then came down, you may not be able to get back up again, depending upon where you went. You need to go to the witch first, then Urwerk, then up the mountain to get all the balls in that world.

When you get to Urwerk, you have to run and jump through the whole area. In the very beginning of that spot, when you fall, you see black sky and stars? You have to move your mouse around to get your bearings again. Maybe you only think you can't move?

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/26/05 03:03 PM

Thanks everyone for the info. Yes, I have gone back to the temple and begun from the beginning of the floating mountain. I go directly to Amalia, who invites me into her cabin. I go in, listen to the leprechaun, then jump up and collect the first ball. This sends me to Ur Werk. When I leave the cage and try to pass through the first re-spawn point it does not work. I pass through, but do not hear anything. I have even gone thru to the next re-spawn point and it does not make any sound while I pass through it. When I get to the first lever in Ur Werk, it does not work either. If I slip up and fall off something I drop down into darkness hearing mumblings. I move my mouse around and nothing happens. I can still hear mumblings, but I can go no where and I see nothing as I rotate around. What am I doing wrong?

Yes, Rckasea. I have collected all ten balls from the mtn of destiny, Gaya's lava dungeon and the singing tree country.

Hi Tvoe,

Where exactly are you in the game? Have you gone through the witch's house to the terrace where the swinging weights are or have you already crossed that part? I'm not sure what you mean by the re-spawn part. Are you able to get out of the witch's house and do you see the swinging weights or are you past that point?

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/26/05 07:11 PM

Mjartisian, I begin at the temple. When I enter the floating mtn I move out of the flower and jump the three rocks to meet Amalia. She invites me into her cabin where I encounter a leprechaun and see the first collectable ball sitting over Amalia's cauldron. I jump into the cauldron, get sick, collect the first ball and end up in Ur Werk in a cage. The cage door opens, I exit the cage and see a re-spawn point before I cross under the weights. This re-spawn point does not work for me. I can pass through it as many times as I wish, but I do not hear the re-spawn sound. Hope this helps explain where I'm at. I'm trying to find out why nothing works for me when I'm in Ur Werk.

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/26/05 08:41 PM

wave tvoe!

Now I know where you are and I think I know what the problem is. You cannot pass under the weights. That is not a legitimate spot you are trying to go to. You have to jump/run while aiming at the door behind the weights and get OVER the weights to the other side. You will have to keep all the buttons down and keep clicking them quickly while making sure you are aiming above the weights at the door behind them.

Let me know how it goes. This is a tough one! It took me a long time to get across! smile

Good luck!

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/26/05 09:30 PM

My apologies oops I told you the wrong place. I am at the beginning or Ur Werk. As I exit the cage, there is a re-spawn point. I cannot make it give me a re-spawn sound when I pass through it. The "weights" are actually swinging anvil-looking thingies. There are three of them and I must jump and run across them without getting knocked off by them.

You collect the balls above the floating moutain later on in the game. You need to get through all the gears and stuff first. You have to time your jumps. I takes a LOT of patience to get through this part. When you get to the upside down bells that go up and down jump just as the bell next bell is lifting.

tvoe123,
Once you get through the Wandering Mountain, it is just a hop, skip and a (big)jump, to the best ARCADE Game. The Labyrinth of Time. smile scared

I think Tvoe is still stuck, Rick & Dutch.

I'm sorry, tvoe, I still don't know exactly where you are. Can you describe what the spot looks like? Is it the part after you cross over the 2 swinging anvils/weights/dohickeys smile where there is a straight path in front of you and a gate that is only open a bit on the bottom that you have to get through? Or are you having trouble getting away from the witch? Which cage are you talking about, the witch's?

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/27/05 02:28 AM

Oh sorry, I'm talkin about the cage I end up in after hopping into the cauldron to get the first energy ball. The cauldron in Amalia's cabin. I hop into the cauldron, get the energy ball, get sick and end up in a cage down in Ur Werk. It's right at the beginning of Ur Werk. I wake up, the cage opens and I can go out, turn to the left and see the first re-spawn point. When I go through the re-spawn point, it does not make a re-spawn sound. It doesn't work at all. I have gone ahead through the tunnels and gears to the next re-spawn point and it doesn't work either. I don't know what I did wrong, but Ur Werk doesn't work for me.

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/27/05 02:44 AM

Just keep going anyway to see if you can get through it without the respawn points. Try not to make a mistake where you fall through the cracks and end up in endless nowhere. luck luck luck

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/27/05 08:40 AM

Hi Tvoe,

Are what you're calling the respawn spots, the blue shining pulsars that save your progress in each world? If so, all you have to do is touch them and your progress is saved as long as you don't leave the world. Are you jumping through them and they're not saving your progress? You have to actually go through them, sometimes jumping through. Even with those save points, if you leave the world by quitting in the middle, you will have to do that world over again.

Melanie

PS: Have you found the walkthrough that we did as a quest group? It's here:

Morning tvoe123,
Urwerk is tuff werk(work). laugh
If the blue pulsars do not save spot, in this relm, how do you play? Start agin at the cage?
To go though the Gears of UrWerk, with no mistakes, would be so trey cool. happydance

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/29/05 03:36 AM

well, I'm going to have to go through it without any re-spawn points. frown Dang. mad I took the game off my computer and reloaded it to hopefully delete the "save" wherever it was. It didn't work, rolleyes so I'll just have to try to go through it without re-spawning. woozy It means if I fall off anywhere I'll have to close the entire game down and restart it. eek I've already done that several times. Wish me luck! wave

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/29/05 09:29 PM

Well I got all the way through the Ur Werk to the first lever and I cannot activate the lever, so I guess my game is corrupt. duh The Ur Werk does not operate at all for me. frown So I'm going to have to quit the game. Sadness. frown Thanks everyone for their tremendous help. thanks

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/29/05 11:01 PM

You mean the lever wont move?

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/30/05 12:46 AM

No, dogpenny, the lever will not operate at all. The respawn points will not work either. I found the savegame file and deleted it. Re-played the first three up to Ur Werk and still nothing in Ur Werk will come alive smile Oh, well, I tried. Thanks again for the support.

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/30/05 04:16 AM

Tvoe, I know you probably already tried this, but just in case....

Did you check the disk for dirt or scratches? Maybe even if there is nothing visible, cleaning it would help?

I'm so sorry that this isn't just a case of being stuck and we weren't able to help you. frown

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/30/05 04:50 PM

In another last ditch effort -- I've finished the game and could send you my save (assuming that you can tell me where to find it -- I looked at the Auryn Quest files and it wasn't obvious to me which was the save file).

When the game is finished, you can still replay all the sections -- all the powerballs reappear. I suspect you wouldn't get the ending video, but you could at least play further in the game.

Wanna try it?

Wow tvoe123,
Ouestions:
Did you read our WT?
You cannot turn off, else loose, you know. smile
You know the lever is at the first part of the UrWeck gears, correct? At the end, your back at the hut, after the Ferris Wheel. happydance
I have never heard of this problem, with pulsars! eek
So sorry that you got so far, only to run into to this. cry
I think, that we are missing something.

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/31/05 12:37 AM

Melanie, yes I thought of that too and did clean the disc. Thought that perhaps an invisible Erdwin was blocking my progress, but alas it was not.
Rckasea, no I have not used any walkthroughs. Don't want to if I can avoid them. smile Yes, it is the first lever at the beginning of the Ur Werk. It opens the bars that sit between two gears after you jump over the railing. I cannot progress further until those bars are opened. I'm assuming that the lever opens them. I cannot get to the end of the Ur Werk so thus have not seen a ferris wheel. I see that you are a Dean Koontz fan. ME TOO! I now have to use a card listing the books of his that I have already read when I'm in book stores. Love his work.
Becky, that sounds like a great idea. The file you are looking for reads: savegame.aqs Open your Explorer. Click on your C drive, then click on Program Files, then click on the file called Auryn Quest. You should see the savegame.aqs file there. Email it to me and I'll try it and see how far I get from that. Great idea. I would really like to play the entire game so maybe that will help me. Even if someone can play the game up through Ur Werk, then email me that savegame.aqs, I could continue on from there. Thanks everyone for the help. thanks

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/31/05 01:41 AM

Thanks for the instructions tvoe -- I'll send the save next.

One more thought though (there's ALWAYS one more thought, right?).

If you are where I think you are, you don't have to use the lever.

I think you've just come through some revolving rings, right? After exiting the rings you're on a platform with three bars that you can walk on.

Take the left bar.

Near the end of the bar, turn left and run/jump to the stationary gear. In front of you is the first Squasher. It is now possible to run/jump through this area to your goal. (You have bypassed the area with the lever completely.)

Re: Auryn Quest, Floating Mtn., Amalia's Cabin, Ur Werk - 03/31/05 04:54 AM

Yea! I got to do the last two! bravo Becky, thank you for the saved game. I tried to go down to Ur Werk from your save and the game stopped all together. frown However, the second time I started the game I bypassed the Ur Werk and did the rest of the wandering mtn. Then, I went back to the temple (instead of collecting all 10 balls in the wandering mtn.) and continued with omega to finish this game. The only part I dont really know about is Ur Werk.
Melanie, that is a good idea. I'll play the game up to Ur Werk and if it does repeat not working, I'll send the saved game to you, okay? You can take a look at it and see if there is something that is happening in the game or if it is just something with my computer? I really appreciate the support. thanks
