barrow hill - 08/31/06 02:33 PM

At the beginning { struck already} The stone sentry was there & since I can't go past,I'm trying to find the stone circle & altar stone. But can;t find them,I either end up at the hiking trail sign or the main road. Should I go back to Service Station & try to find them at another time? I'm really wandering around in those woodlands alot. Thanks.

I think that Stone moves around a lot--why not go back to the Service Station and do some other things? And isn't there a map somewhere at the Station or in a Motel room? That should help you find what you're looking for.

Edit: I'm not much farther along than you are--the way I found some of the places was to start from the car, and every step forward that I took, check to the right and left for a possible path. It takes quite a while, but you'll find several places where you can go--and making a map of your own wouldn't be a bad idea... wave

Re: barrow hill - 08/31/06 04:51 PM

In keeping with not having 29 million threads about one game smile

I went into Motel Room 2 - found everything according to Marita's walkthrough - stuck the phone in the charger - went outside to look for the noisy horn and speeding car - tried to re-enter Room 2 to retrieve the phone (assuming it's charged) . . .

and the code I used to get in no longer works.

Help! (please)

Re: barrow hill - 08/31/06 05:22 PM

Christine, the door lock is a random puzzle--I just checked my game, and I can't get back in either. So it's possible that it resets when the door is closed. If that's the case, you will need to go back to a save before you opened it the first time, and be sure to take everything with you when you leave...

Re: barrow hill - 08/31/06 05:27 PM

Christine and Jenny, I think the lock numbers stay exactly the same for the duration of that particular game. I went in and out of those doors numerous times and always used the original code I got without any problem.
Good luck

Re: barrow hill - 08/31/06 06:47 PM

You could very well be right, Sue--I went back into my game before I answered Christine's post, but the door was locked, and I hadn't written down the code that I used to open it... blush

Re: barrow hill - 08/31/06 08:51 PM

That also happened to me, so I went back to the cafe and got the number again,it was the same number. Man, finally some good luck! Good luck everyone.

Re: barrow hill - 08/31/06 09:05 PM

Thanks for your help guys! I read Jenny's first post and did what she suggested - went back to the previous save, took 5 minutes to inspect the room & take the cell phone this time - and exited. Then I tried the same code again - & it worked! So I obviously hit some random key before & messed it up.

I think Sue is right - once you receive the room code for a room it stays that code the entire game - unless you go back to a previous save & do it again.

Gameboomers to the rescue again!

Having much trouble finding the casino. Then followed the wt but still can't find it.I'm in back of the office. Would appreciate some help in finding it. Thanks.

Re: barrow hill - 09/01/06 06:00 PM

Sleuth there isn't a casino out back, just a slot machine. Face the desk in Ben's office and unlock/open the door on your right. Go out into the back area and you should see a slot machine, read that as old and faded, red slot machine on your right.

sleuth,

There's blank paper at the desk at the office where ah - Ben was hiding before. I think it is in one of the drawers.

here I am with another simple question. Got the tracing paper, having trouble with water blessing. used artifact on glyph, saw box and contents. Went back, threw coin in water, lit blue and then brown candle but it keeps showing icon above water, don't know what else to do, what should I be doing? thanks.

Re: barrow hill - 09/02/06 09:35 AM

Sleuth are you sure you are lighting the correct candles? I think the brown one you need to light is at the bottom. That could be what's holding you back.

Re: barrow hill - 09/02/06 10:03 AM

Hi.
Firstly, the door code for me ISN'T random, been the same each time (4 now) I've used it. I'm also unable to get passed the Sentry stone AND now my cell is not charged again. Going back to the charger does no good since it won't go into it! I've restarted this game TWICE and am now frustrated even WITH a walkthrough. MaGtRo helped me learn to love Dreamfall's fight sequences, so I have faith. But maybe the game is, dare I say, a little buggy?

Re: barrow hill - 09/02/06 10:17 AM

Topher I don't know why you are running into problems. I had not heard of anyone's cell phone not staying charged.
The only way around the sentry is to solve other puzzles elsewhere. But you probably need to be able to make phone calls to truly advance in the game.
Did you do the telecommunication tower puzzle already?
My codes were different every time I played and I never had any glitch problems either.

Re: barrow hill - 09/03/06 01:31 AM

Except maybe getting the lamp lit, getting into the 2 rooms, doing the stuff that was in the demo and wandering around a lot, I've mainly explored. I haven't done any actual puzzles yet. When I saw the sentry stone (and not using a walkthrough at first) I touched it and died. Then on my second chance it backed off and radiated, but would never move again. I got into the 2 motel rooms, by the note and by bugging the guy in the office. Found the cell, and charged it ok. Later I had No charge.

Re: barrow hill - 09/03/06 03:25 AM

Ok, nix the part about the cell, it reads 'No Signal', not 'No Charge'! I am SO losing it. I still can't get past the Sentry stone, and I've been everywhere I can go, at least twice! Thank you for all help.

Re: barrow hill - 09/03/06 07:44 AM

Topher you need to go fix the communication tower around the side of the cafe to get a signal. I think once your phone is active that you will be able to do other things in the game.
Good luck

Re: barrow hill - 09/03/06 08:30 AM

Thank you for the info. That is the place with the chain link fence, right? Haven't found a way inside. I have been collecting a LOT of stuff, though and got inside room 3. Still can't get by the Sentry stone.

Re: barrow hill - 09/03/06 08:37 AM

Topher look for a hot spot low on the chain link gate and see if you can't slip inside.
Good luck

Re: barrow hill - 09/03/06 06:20 PM

Thank you so much. I have been searching for a key or monkey wrench all over!

Re: barrow hill - 09/03/06 06:26 PM

Well that must have been frustrating for you Topher! As soon as I got the hotspot, I immediately started fiddling around with things. That seems to be a bad habit I've acquired, steal things and fiddle around with whatever and pray I don't die.
Have fun looking for things to take and mix with others.

This game is lots of fun. I have stolen everything I could get my hands on PLUS tasted the delicious tart in the kitchen area.

Topher if I remember correctly, the oilcan is in the office on the desk.
Please stay with your original thread for this game, it makes it easier to find where you are and what you have accomplished.
Thank you
