Jazz & Faust...Merchant and Jewel

I have tried everything to exchange the broken bottle for the jewel. Even followed the walkthrough at that point and no matter what I do, I can not get it. I have done everything up to that point. Given the coin to the boy, boy talked to the merchant...

I assume you've tried to take the crystal and gotten caught, Pam. Now take the broken bottle and try clicking it on different places on the table. It runs in my mind that you don't click directly on the jewel, but I could be mistaken. Just keep trying everywhere. If you get too stuck, you can send me a saved game and I'll see what I can do with it......
