Watchmaker - the bin near the well

I'm playing Watchmaker and am at the part where the gardener throws an empty bottle into a bin beside the well. On close-up it shows empty. How do I retrieve the bottle out of the bin if I don't see it?

You need to 'lean forward.' Press Space for close-up, then Shift-Up arrow.

Shift-up key? How about that!!!!

Actually it is possible to get the bottle out of the bin without using that key, but it takes careful positioning (not in the place where the game wants to put you).
