Grim Fandango

HI: I'm in yr. 4, I have the snow grinder filled with ice attempting to enter the dark sewer. However, I start grinding the ice machine and NO light is generated and Manny does not enter the doorway on the top of the screen.

I have already pulled the lever to fill the snow grinder + taken it with me. I'm not sure what I missed. How do I create a lighted path in "the dark sewer?"

Did you overhear at the bottom of the short flight of stairs? Did you pour the coffee on the Thunder boys and return the pot to the burner? Then 'use arm on snow grinder'? Pick it up and go down ladder, enter dressing room, Do you now have on the makeup? leave backstage, go to casino, talk to man in trench coat, talk to Meche, and again, use sheet on Charlie, talk to 'trenchie' again and end up in the bathroom, Are you now wearing a new suit? Behind Glottis is the dark entrance to the sewers, use the grinder here...this is supposed to create the light you need to see the path and you should be able to enter the doorway.
