stupid Riven question!

I just got started on this... and I know my mission is to find and free Catherine. But I have already gone to three different "islands" and I'm just sure I haven't done all on each cuz it was waaay to short of a visit! I guess my question is how much is on each "island"? I mean, HOW do I know when I'm done on each place? So far this is a great game, I just need a little direction! Thanks!!!

Did you find the wooden gate? Did you rotate the Gate Room? This on the Temple Island (first). Did you visit the Golden Dome and investigate the steam valves that control the power on the outer walkways? Did you find the submarine on the Jungle Island, Gehn's elevator? There's lots to do....look at everything.

hi Witchen! Yes I got to the steamroom and got the telescope (?) thing on, I heard a noise of something opening but still have no idea what!! And while I was there at that thing... is there supposed to be a picture of something there? All I see is a whiteish/yellowish blob...? I found the tram thing... and the railcart... but really, what the heck am I doing? How do I know when I'm done on these "islands" or "ages"....? I'm enjoying the puzzles but really I'm just getting more confused as I go! Thanks for the help!

It's hard to know what to say to a question like yours. There's plenty to do most anywhere you go and sometimes you can do just so much in one place before you have to go somewhere else and then you just might have to come back to the first or on to a third. Basically, do all you can find to do on one island and then go to the next. The problem in that is in knowing whether you've done all that CAN be done or all that YOU can do.

On the first island, you obviously got into the rotating room and what did you do/learn? When you operated the steam pipe there is that all you did. Thats a start but there's more.

When you imprison Gehn(the bad guy (bum, bum, bum!!!)), you flip the switch to lower the cage, then you go to the ladder and go down. You click on the music box to hear the combination. There are three different sounds. They are WHIRR, CLICK, and DING. The sound combo is never the same in all games, so write the sounds down. The book to Catherine(Atrus's wife) is the one with one square on it. After you rescue Catherine, and she departs for the Rebel Moiety Age Book, link away, then all the books will have the linking window ripped except one. That's your exit. Figure the rest out for yourself, okay?!?!?

WOW! What an adventure this has been!!!! Actually, I AM stuck...on the sounds from the thing on the desk...click whirl zing... I did'nt get it right I guess and I have to go back to hear it again... I can't say I enjoy all the disk changes but other than that... WOW! what an adventure! I think I may have PLENTY to say after I'm done...Thanks all for the advice!!!
