Post Mortem - D'Allpan's residence - 12/09/02 09:27 PM

I just got to the part in the game where I am able to enter D'Allpan's residence. (not sure of that spelling!).

I can enter the bedroom and office. Other doors are locked. I was able to pick up a few inventory items and documents. Is there something else I'm supposed to do here at this time? I tried leaving and revisitng several other locations, but can't figure out what to do next, so I'm assuming I missed something at the resedence.

Thanks
Louis

P.S. SPOILER AHEAD.

Was anyone else dissapointed on the door lock 'puzzle' to D'Allpens house? I was all set for a challenge, when all you get is a 'cut scene' after placing the 1st tile into the door lock!

Hi Louis wave

There are a few things I think you missed. Did you notice the three paintings upstairs and the solar system model in the office? Take a look at those and that should help you move along.

After you check what Taylor's mom said - see about the brotherhood's place if you haven't already.

Thanks for the tips, I'm further along now. I had seen the solar system puzzle, but didn't notice the dates on the bottom of the paintings. I main thing I missed was getting the letter of introduction. I did notice a strange 'glitch' or poor design.

Spoiler..

I explored D'Allpins residence and found the correct example of his handwriting before I went to get the forged 'Letter of Introduction'. Then I went to the bistro and got the letter, but it didn't work, and I had to go back and get another one. This makes sense if you had the bad example of D'Allpins handwriting the 1st time, and the correct one the 2nd time, but since you can't indicate which sample to use for the forged letter, it assumes the bad one first! (even if you already have the good sample in your possesion) Now if you already know you have the correct one, why would you give Bebe the bad one the 1st time??

Hi Louis,

There are a lot of those overlapping things in the game. The repetitions of the dialogue and the specific sequence of asking them are time consuming and patience straining. I think that the designers placed so many twists in this game that in order for all possible scenes they introduced to be shown they have to program it this way.

I can commensurate with you on this.
