Riddle of Master Lu

I'm stuck in the lab in Danzig in "The Riddle of Master Lu". I looked at a walkthrough, but I just can't figure out how to connect the hose from the faucet to the glass bottle on the lever on the wall. I can connect the hose and tubing to the faucet, but then I can't do anything with it. I can't connect the tubing or hose to the bottle first. I patched the game (version 2.05 I think) after an earlier crash problem trying to talk to Wolf in the garden. The patch didn't fix the conversation crash problem. Earlier saved games worked with the patch, but later saved games don't work with the previous executable.

Did you use the periodic table chart on the spade jar?
Use the pump grips on the pump.
Put the lever key on the table top pivot.
Put the faucet handle on the air valve.
Use the faucet handle to close air valve.
Put the surgical tube on the nozzles.
Use the pump to start the compressed air flow.
Use the air valve.
