Death Gate

I feel almost stupid having to ask for help here...have been OK up to now but am stuck and the old grey cells seem to have stopped working for me....I am in Kleitus' Palace, in manacles, have saved Ed and myself with an antidote to the poison, have freed Ed with the keys and am trying to figure out how to unlock my manacles with the keys....when I have them in my inventory or near me on the floor and touch Halpo to 'come back to myself' then I do not get a view of me to give the keys to or use the keys on the manacles....I know it is probably very simple but what am I doing wrong?
I like this game, kinda neat!

First and foremost drink the contents of the bottle.

Take the keys so they are in inventory
Click on the keys while they are in inventory and "put" them on the large chains in front of you (that's your chains) You should see "unlock" appear - click on that and you're free

It worked, and it WAS so simple once you explained it to me....DUH! Anyway, I am now stuck with a 'disappearing dwarf' who I have brought with me to the Palace cave....he comes aboard the ship but once I enter the cave and open that door he disappears from my inventory and I see no cloth on the floor to pick up to give dog the scent...any suggestions? And thanks for helping me get out of the manacles.

Anyway the dwarf you think you got to follow you is the wrong one. It's not the big zombie on the outside of the cave entrance. The dwarf you want is on the inside - past the snake. Ask the zombie to follow you - since the old zombie lady is reading the book he will grab the snake and you can get past him to the dwarf you need.
