Machintosh lament- what's an Apple to do?

I recently tried to look for a Macintosh version of the adventure game Keepsake. I figured it was one of the most popular adventures of 2006 and it would be perfect, given its in-game hint system, for a beginner.

But I can find no such thing.

The friend I wanted to give the game to is elderly and I don't think she would really want to go through a lot to get Virtual PC running just to play a game. She might if she was ALREADY hooked on adventure games... but Keepsake would be her first and I was hoping it would be the hook.

SO...
I got to thinking...
What's a poor Apple to do?
How do y'all Mac adventure game people get by?
It certainly must be outrageous that game companies ignore the Mac market... uh... isn't it?

I'd really like to hear from you Apples out there.
Maybe you can give me a suggestion for my friend?

Added note: I just checked all the lists mentioned in the thread and could find nothing that was up to the quality I was seeking.
BLAST-IT! They didn't even make The Longest Journey for Mac!
SO... I could pick from the best of the less-than-outstanding games for my elderly friend, and then leave her looking at not much else to choose from.

Time to look into Virtual PC.

Sorry to be a wet blanket but Virtual PC on a PPC Mac won't be up to running PC games.

If one has one of the Intel Macs then there are options like Boot Camp or Parallels.

How do we get by? I have a PC to play games, and do everything else on my much preferred Mac. Sorry, not a good solution, but the only one I could live with.
When a game comes out I first check to see if it is offered for Mac and buy that as first choice, then if it's not, I get the PC version. SAD, ain't it!

If you have a Mac that's new enough (an Intel Mac), you can use a program called Parallels to run Windows on your Mac.

Out from Boneville was ported to the Mac last year... Raj, maybe your friend would like that?

It's not as long as Keepsake or TLJ, but it's a good game for beginners.

The first Ankh game has a Mac port too (but didn't run that brilliantly on my G5 iMac.)

I'm waiting to buy an Intel Mac until the next OSX release comes out.

And thanks to you and Jenny100 for the Boot Camp and Parallels option. Will have to check-out my friend's Mac's processor and her OSX.
Thanks fov for the Boneville suggestion. I'll play it myself first and perhaps it would be an advantage that it's not so long.

Beasong- the best of both worlds, huh? A Mac and a PC for gaming. My worries are that system requirements keep going up, (and prices along with them), and that I couldn't get her to make that much of a commitment for something she hasn't tried.

Heh, heh... but maybe I could get her to buy a state of the art PC and then offer to "take it off her hands" for cheap if she doesn't like it. )

Before Microsoft sue me just to clarify my comment about Virtual PC. On my G4 iMac it was adequate to run simple Windows programs but the performance wasn't there for something as demanding as a game. IIRC Virtual PC does not claim to be able to run games. On an Intel Mac I would use Boot Camp myself or something like Parallels.
