Hall of Fame - 08/27/07 12:34 PM

If we had a Hall of Fame for inovative creators of adventure games who would you nominate and why?

I'm torn between 3 people but I think my top person would be Roberta Williams.

She not only gave us great games but brought humour to our adventuring. praise

I also love and cut my teeth with Roberta Williams.

I would definitely recommend Knut Mueller of Rhem and Maciej Miasik of Detalion.

I wish I had been pulling your leg but no it was pure ignorence I'm afraid Ron.etti. I hang my head in shame. Slightly surprised that no-one has mention Jonathen King for his wonderful photography, strong story lines and ability to make one become totally involved in a scary atmosphere.

Hi old lady -- now I'm the one whose puzzled. Which games did Jonathen King develop?

Re: Hall of Fame - 08/28/07 02:58 PM

Hi Becky - Jonathan King made Darkfall 1&2 which were the first realisticlly scary games I played. It may be that he wasn't the first and that I missed others. To me he seemd to be an inovator which is what I was thinking about when I started this thread.

The Millers with the sheer beauty of the graphics and landscapes. Sokal, again wonderful graphics and an humanity in people like Hans and Oscar, Roberta with her humor. My thanks go to them all for the hours of fun they have given me.

Hi old lady...you are thinking of Jonathan Boakes, not King. He is awesome, isn't he?

Re: Hall of Fame - 08/28/07 03:18 PM

Well, I'd vote for Jonathan for King! lol

I really like his games too. Maybe he's the one who should wear the Lost Crown?

How about Clive Barker for "The Undying?" That is one scarey game and I couldn't finish it because I couldn't get the boss battle with Lisbeth. It isn't an all adventure game though.

There's so many great developers out there who are on a par with each other I couldn't single out just the one! But, William R Fisher, Mikael & Eleen Nyquist & Benoit Sokal immediately stand out - for me they all have a distinctive style which you could immediately accredit to them plus excellent stories! smile
