Question about searching

Question about searching - 09/24/07 05:47 PM

I don't use the search feature a whole lot, so I'm not all that familiar with it, but I've got a question:
I was looking for information for Crystal Key 2. First I entered it exactly like that: Crystal Key 2. I got tons of replies pertaining to the new Nancy Drew game, Crystal Skull I think.
Next I searched using "Crystal + Key + 2; same results
Third I used "Crystal+Key+2". Still all the results for Nancy Drew.
Is there a way to fine tune my search even more? Or to eliminate some of the other results I get? Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Mary, you need to search with quotations around the words if you want them to be together. You need to put in "Crystal Key" and then you will get what you want.

Thanks for the tip, Ana, but...
I put "crystal key 2" in the search
I asked for the words to be "in subject title"
Newer that 1 Year

I got no results for that search.
Does that sound right to you?
I thought we had some discussion about this game not too long ago??

Mary -- this is weird, but I just did exactly what you described, and came up with 7 results (2 from this thread).

Strange, isn't it?

Just realized -- if you asked for it to be "in subject title" or "in subject," the search engine will bring up threads where Crystal Key 2 is only in the title itself.

Okay, I tried not narrowing down the field by using "in subject" in my criteria.
Now I got 3 pages of results!
Thanks all! thumbsup
