This game had so much going for it, won so many awards, and seemed to have everything that would attract gamers from other genres as well as adventure gamers. Why didn't it literally "fly" off of store shelves? Why wasn't it a remarkable best seller?
I can only comment from what my partner likes to play - he likes high definiton graphics - racing, flying games & has just got into Warhawk online. I persuaded him to try something 'lesser' - my PS2 Tomb Raider Legend (which he is secretly enjoying!)
There is a couple of posts in a Culpa Innata thread from a member who only dabbles in AGs, as opposed to other genres, & sees them unfavourably.
From what I can glean - gamers who prefer other genres are not going to go for an indepth adventure story on the strength of a few fighting scenes & a 'smart' keyboard/consol based interface.
I'm all for AG developers trying to 'upgrade' but would prefer that that they stick to their market & not make the mistake of thinking that (apart from RPGs) that players from other genres want a lot more than good graphics and from what I see as mindless gameplay!
