Plum Puzzling of Name the Game - 11/10/07 04:22 PM
The time has once again arrived to start a new Name The Game thread.
...so many replies, so little space!!! Rules, for those who haven't participated before, the person who is IT gives clues to an Adventure game, the person who guesses correctly becomes IT. This is an ongoing game, relax, guess and enjoy!!!
Dragonuk44 is IT, and has supplied the following clue:
Clue: In this game a proffessor turned into a detective.
One guess at the game's identity: Indiana Jones: The Fate of Atlantis.

You got it Becky. Was it the A Team or the fish? Gotta admit he was obnoxious.
Posted By: Becky
Re: Stuffed Turkey of Name the Game - 11/11/07 09:19 PM
Definitely the fish!
My first attempt at a pop culture clue for one word of the game's title:
This telvision doctor is a pain and is in pain.
Posted By: Barry
Re: Stuffed Turkey of Name the Game - 11/11/07 09:33 PM
That first clue was based on the fact that Dirk Benedict, who was Face on the A Team, played one of the game characters and when he first appeared the A team theme music came on. I know what your clue refers to but at this point can't pinpoint the game.

Re: Stuffed Turkey of Name the Game - 11/11/07 09:45 PM
Becky, I guess you mean that nice and gentle dr. House.
There are surpisingly few game titles (as far as I know) with the word house in it, so I guess Lighthouse.
Bernard
Posted By: Becky
Re: Stuffed Turkey of Name the Game - 11/11/07 10:09 PM
Yes, the clue refers to sweet, sensitive Dr. House.
The game isn't Lighthouse, though.
Clue 2: Host Diana Rigg

Let's go from the contemperary to the classics!
The title of an opera by W.A. Mozart first staged in 1791.

Hi Bernard
Well I certainly know a 1791 Mozart
opera title but don't know the
game title it's supposed to bring to mind !!

Re: Stuffed Turkey of Name the Game - 11/15/07 11:04 PM
Could that first clue have been searching for a four-leaf clover, maybe? I seem to remember doing that in a game, I think, but can't recall where or when.
Posted By: Bernard
Re: Stuffed Turkey of Name the Game - 11/16/07 12:13 AM
You're right sierramindy, a four-leaf clover it is! All that's missing now is the name of the game.
Bernard

Blinds may be washed with water
although I have always found that alcohol is better, never oil.
But that isn't to say that some Blinds may be found near water but never washed, unless water washes over them.
However within the washing over, sometimes their original purpose might be destroyed, depending upon the force of the water used.

Rocky shores bring more than ducks.
These particular birds comprise two genre: Uria and Cepphus. The former are relatives of the Razorbill, Dovekie and the extinct Great Auk and together make up the tribe Alcini, while the latter form a tribe of their own, the Cepphini. Buffon says that this name comes from Welsh: Gillem.

Nope --- no leftovers --- My Thanks giving was --- unexpectedly interesting. My colleague from work invited me to her house -- she doesn't cook and usually has everything catered to perfection but not this time. Her mother "decided that it was high time that she cook a meal. Well, It was a hilarious disaster -- there were 3 dogs involved an air born undercooked turkey --- raw string beans washed with dishsoap, fresh cranberry sauce which looked absolutely gorgeous until you ate it --- just cranberries!!!! I refer to this as Laura's pucker sauce. --- We laughed until tears were rolling.
I'm making my Turkey dinner next Wednesday. haahhaahahahaaaaa
now let me think a minute --- and I'll be back.

Thank you Bernard!
Well, I've been missing your cryptic clues so I thought I would have a bash albeit lacking the culture & finesse!
Quite easy really - one word in the answer to each clue is a feature of the game:
1 1972 Horror film directed by James H Kay 3rd (described by British film critic Barry Norman as "mind boggling trash"!)
2 US Jazz singer born in 1915
3 TV Sci Fi series of the 60's created by Irwin Allen

You've got it Bernard so it's back to you!
The answers are of course 1 - (The) Gardener, 2 - (Billie) Holiday, 3 - (The Time) Tunnel, 4 - Tramp, 5 - Sweden
Info for The Gardener came from the 2002 Edition of 'RadioTimes Guide to Films' published by BBC Worldwide Limited. I checked the listing & the year is definitely 1972 - maybe it's an Atlantic thing! I'm not sure that I got the author of the quote right though - sorry about that!

No, it's not a cartoon game, Flotsam.

And to an upper level tossed
By bouncy leaves. It was a hoot,
But returning took the longer route.

Bernard -- say the answer!
Then I think we might take a brief break from Name the Game -- say a few weeks -- so that we can ponder more clues to create, beginning in February.
The dead of winter is such a good time to play new games and think up new dastardly rhyming or hangman or internet-linked or traditional clues.
What do you say?

I need a quick break to think up a good thread title!
We'll start Name the Game again in February, on a most important date. As a hint, I'll tell you that the date appears
somewhere on this page.In the meantime -- play games! And think up clues!
