Ghost in the Sheet - 12/08/07 04:18 AM

I need a copy of the manual for Ghost in the Sheet.
I am unable to copy the manual on the game CD.
Acrobat Reader just won't let it print!
I have searched everywhere. Nothing came in the box, but the CD.
I even checked out the company that made the game, they don't mention the Manual.
Help please,
Jtiffin

Are you sure that it won't let it print? Since the reader usually prints things as an image and not text if you do not have the professional version of Adobe, it can take up to 5 minutes to do a page at times.

I wish, but my 4.0 Acrobat Reader will not print it, it just waste paper.
Is the Acrobat Reader necessary to print it?
Can it be sent through email & printed without the Reader?

Jtiffin, you need to update your reader. You can do that Here. You should be fine then.

If it was put on the disk as a pdf file, it has to be viewed in the reader.

Jtiffin,

Let's wait for someone with the new game for you. My game did not come with the manual.
If you can send me the Adobe manual as an attachment, I'll see what I can do.

BrownEyedTigre,
I went out & looked at the Readers, but don't know which I need or what they are talking about.
Also they did't say what the cost would be. I don't buy things not knowing the cost.
I will just have to wait.
Thanks,

Jtiffin,

It's free. Download the top one, the latest one from Ana's link - the version 8.1.1 reader. It's safe and is now commonly used. So you will need it more than once.

MaG,
I down loaded the version you said. It does seem to work but, it prints nothing but black & grey lines. No words or instructions which I need.
It may be that I can't get it to work because, I had to load the game on my Mem, which at the beginning of the load I was warned it wasn't big enough to play it on.
Since I only wanted to read & print the Manual, I had hoped it wouldn't matter all that much. It seems to have loaded ok, it didn't tell me any different. Also that is the computer connected to the internet & printer.
I will try to think of something else or another way around my problem.
Thanks again all for trying to help me,

Sometimes you have to un-install the old adobe reader 4.0 to update to the newest one. You can do this in the control panel (just use the add/remove new software/programs feature).

Remember to re-start your machine each time you have either un-installed or installed some new programs, particularly if they're from Adobe. Be adviced and prepared for that both the un-installation of Adobe 4.0 and the installation of Adobe 8.1.1 will take a long time.

Also, make sure, you hit the adobefulleng.exe file (looks normally like a computer-image) after you have downloaded the Adobe 8.1.1. program. This will install the program on your computer. If you have a firewall etc. you might need to give Adobe permission to get through your firewall.

ehm -- and what is a Mem?

You should at least be able to download the manual, install, read and print it, I think? even if there's not enough room on your Mem.

Did the message say something like 'not enough virtual memory?' If it did, we can fix it...

I downloaded the Acrobat Reader 8.1.1, then went to install it ,but was notified that I had to have the Reader itself installed first. What I installed was just an update for the reader. I didn't see the original reader. Will keep looking.

WELL!
My answer to my problem is when this so call company decides to print the manual & sell it I will buy it! Everytime I think I have it licked, something else is required. Until then-excuse me for saying this but, {blip} on it.

lol Jtiffin -- you've tried your best! Is there any info in particular that you wanted from the manual?

Becky,
I was just trying to see if we had an inventory & other simple things like that. I am beginning to work it out. I use the first of MaG's walkthrough to see how most of things work.
I am afraid I just loose my cool to easy.
My problem with the Readers are most updates won't work with a Millennium Computer.
Besy Buy said they will no longer work on it!
Thanks for asking,

Re: Ghost in the Sheet - 12/09/07 07:02 AM

Jtiffin--I've printed up the manual, and the gameplay instructions are brief enough that I can just type them up here. I'm putting them in a spoiler tag just to be safe. (Sometimes I paraphrase, and cursor descriptions are my own, since they are pictured in the manual, not described):

Click to reveal..
Gameplay -- point and click -- move the cursor and it changes to reveal different interactions depending on the type of hotspot.

Default cursor -- ghost with one tail.

Interactive cursor -- ghost with a squiggly tale -- you can either left click the hotspot or you can try to use any of your skills on it.

Exit cursor -- double arrows in a gate -- you can exit the current screen by left clicking this hotspot.

In addition to the interactions you can use paranormal skills which you learn as you progress through the gaming world. You activate them by clicking on their respective icons on the upper left portion of the screen. To deactivate them, use the right mouse button.

You can shortcut the paranormal skills selection by using function keys (F1, F2, etc.) which will correspond to respective skills from top to bottom.

Tab -- shows all exits

Esc -- brings up the main menu

Backspace -- to use for those who really don't want to do two easy action sequences. If you feel action-challenged, use this cheat key to skip those funny parts.
