I'm walking-- I'm walking -I'm walking--I'm in Limbo - 02/07/08 10:00 PM

I am playing a game right now--- a new one- and I must say - first- I like the story- I am enjoying the puzzle part of the game- but I am walking- and walking- thru tunnels- down stairs over and over--
After just completing games where you walked somewhere one and then you were given the option to click on the area to go back- I just don't know why newer games don't do something like this- or at least have the person be able to run. It makes a great game good.
Sorry-- had to vent crazy

That's funny, Bernard! laugh

In chapter two, I was definitely a lost soul walking around clueless with a bemused expression on my face; Limbo of the Lost is aptly named. grin

I've played several games like that recently--the most recent one was Evil Under the Sun. I'm with you, Marian, after you've been to an area once, I like some sort of arrangement to get you there quickly--a map is a good way to do it...

Me too, Me too! I like covering the ground the first time as I am exploring and learning, but having to cover and recover and recover--hardwall

I know what you all mean. I played two chapters of this game, and the absolutely endless wandering back and forth was so frustrating that I just couldn't take any more of it, with or without a walkthrough. (It was mostly "with". I did not have a happy time.) I uninstalled it.

The walking was the part that made me throw in the towel a few times in this game. I no longer cared to solve a few of the puzzles because I felt like I just wandered the same ground over and over in order to find out what has changed. I loved the game, it was funny and original, but I do hope that if that make another they will cut back on the senseless wanderings.

I think it's obvious why game developers do this. It's to extend the length of the game. Just think how short some games would be without all that traipsing back and forth. Older games rarely did that. Think of Obsidian or Morpheus (2 of my faves). They were able to fill gameplay with exploration or other interesting things.

It was originally conceived as a graphical/text adventure game which I think would have worked better than it does now.

I think back to something like the early King's Quest games and there was a lot of wandering and back and forth, but it was speedy to go from screen to screen, etc. and didn't seem to take nearly as long as Limbo did to get around.

HI Winfrey...

I feel your pain...This game does have most of it...I can't say all. I can say only what it doesn't have...Speed..

I hate wandering, I hate having to look in dark areas..being I am half blind to begin with..
crazy

Oh well....Worth $ 40.00.. Noway

My Opinion duh

What really surprises me is the dialog is witty- story line is fun- but going down the same tunnel again and agian-- I mean- he can't even run-- I keep double clicking in hopes he will say- alright already I run for you
lol

Re: I'm walking-- I'm walking -I'm walking - 02/09/08 02:37 AM

Also the puzzles were Child's- Play....The game was base on basic knowledge....there wasn't one puzzle were the average person couldn't solve...

A lot of the game depended on doing certain things you had to find or place to get a result..

But I really have to give the Graphics 100 plus thumbsup...Story line 100 plus... thumbsup

Re: I'm walking-- I'm walking -I'm walking:Limbo-like - 02/09/08 05:33 AM

so many things in limbo.....sometimes you just felt....well, lost........amongst clever storylines, plot twists and devil-if- I-can-find them clues. hmmm...humorous dialogs, and wonderfully macabre storyline and characters; The title is apt.too?? What to think.!
hmmmmm;
the wandering, so unsuusal in adventure games....it is just so....not perfect. In some ways, our criticisms become us. I liked it.
