Vitaminizing Element of Name the Game - 04/03/08 05:39 PM

The time has once again arrived to start a new Name The Game thread.

Quote:
...so many replies, so little space!!! Rules, for those who haven't participated before, the person who is IT gives clues to an Adventure game, the person who guesses correctly becomes IT. This is an ongoing game, relax, guess and enjoy!!!

Bernard is IT, and he started off by providing a visual clue.

Clue #1:

Chrissie has responded:
Quote:
The Awakened?

A while later....... (Cameron files) Secret at Lochness?

And I'm guessing: Nancy Drew: The Creature of Kapu Cave.

One, two, buckle my shoe is an Agatha Christie novel.
Deserted village, Leathercomb Bay.
The ghost, the ghost of the smuggler. (friendly???)

Evil under the sun.

Chrissie -- I always change the thread title "theme" when we start a new Name the Game thread. This one started out as "Roving Spirit" and I just changed it to "Aesthetic Hardship." There is a relationship between them, believe it or not.

Karsten, you're right, Johnny Logan it is. thumbsup. A mailbox is just one of the "common themes" I'm afraid. smile

Re: Roving Spirit of Name the Game - 04/26/08 10:48 AM

I had the feeling way back when jody319 posted the answer and it was correct (page 17) that the game would be stalled. Check out the stats: Registered on September 30, 2004 (!) and number of posts is 29 (!!) so what does that tell you? This is not a frequent poster by any means!
Posted by: MaG

Re: Roving Spirit of Name the Game - 04/26/08 11:23 AM

sierramindy,

A lot of our members (I gauge around 40%) do not post much but lurks and reads the threads frequently. They only post when they feel they need to. They visit once a week or once a month.
They're here.

Re: Roving Spirit of Name the Game - 04/26/08 04:36 PM

Well, yes, of course, but once a month is not that good for the Name the Game thread, now is it? That's the point I was trying to make.
Posted by: Becky

Re: Roving Spirit of Name the Game - 04/26/08 05:04 PM

Hi Sierramindy -- if Jody knows to check to see if she guessed right, she would check the thread soon after guessing. Maybe she doesn't realize exactly how the game is run.

We'll give her a few more hours and then I'll post a clue if she doesn't.

Sierramindy, you seem to be really depressed! Everyone deserves the the benefit of the doubt, Jody is no exception. Try to get that smile upon your face again. Believe me when I say that I know how hard it can be sometimes. If you want to escape the sameness, you might want to have a look at the infamous Common Theme thread. smile

Re: Roving Spirit of Name the Game - 04/26/08 08:27 PM

Posted by: Mad

Re: Roving Spirit of Name the Game - 04/27/08 01:56 AM

Hi sierramindy smile

I didn't see your reply before it was edited .... but what I am referring to by "lightening up" is that the world won't stop if a member doesn't come back to a thread and post right away.
It's probably just a case of "forgetting".
So, good gracious, no need to make a gloomy issue out of it !!

In any case, no one is "obliged" to post. You yourself have chosen not to post in a particular thread because you consider it to be weird or common but others who think quite the opposite won't condemn you for it.

Cheers.

Ok, here's the next clue then for the next game:

This game is part of a series that first started as a series
in a an era many many years ago....before the internet was born.

I would say that that the theme for this game was

The love theme is perhaps more spiritual as the ending unifies an universal symbol for love into another symbol.

bonus clue:

to progress in this game you need to avoid an explosion in a tank.

Yes, it is Zork: Nemesis

Lady Kestrel smile

Over to you, then.

But be sure not to be eaten by a grue - when it's dark.

Just out of curiosity what was it that led you onto
Zork: Nemesis, Lady Kestrel?

Posted by: LadyKestrel

Re: Roving Spirit of Name the Game - 05/06/08 04:52 PM

When you mentioned getting eaten, the Zork series popped into my mind. I haven't played the game yet, but I remember from screenshots and a reviews that you had to help a ghostly bride. I figured that could have the been love aspect you mentioned. Of course, there's love in ZGI, too, but it's not exactly spiritual. smile

This is a clue to a place you visit in the game:
vehicle + duplicate via wires

Thanks. This was fun - finding out that there actually is a place called Carfax, then finding what game it was in...

Ok, this next hint it misleading - It's not the game this song appears in.

There's a monkey in my pocket

His stare is blank and glassy,
I suspect that he's deranged.

Re: Roving Spirit of Name the Game - 05/09/08 02:39 PM

My first idea was "flighty temptress." Dumbledore says it in Half Blood Prince:

Quote:
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

The others were quotations I uncovered that also describe "adventure."

Re: Roving Spirit of Name the Game - 05/09/08 04:58 PM

Becky got it - Runaway 2.
I'm pretty sure they chose the subtitle 'Dream of the Turtle' so the acronym would be DOTT.
