What game did you just have to give up on? - 08/02/03 01:17 AM

Reading the replies to that TLJ thread, well, it just made me wonder...what games did you absolutely HAVE to give up on? Like, uninstalling was actually a joy?
Like for example Schizm! Ptttthhh!!!!

Schizm would be #1 on my list for sure!
Martian Gothic-Unification would probably be second

The only game I had to give up on was Amazon Queen . My reconfiguration caused me to be unable to play it at all so I uninstalled it and gave up.

I gave up on Broken Sword 2 - I got to the art gallery, and for some reason could not get past there - the walkthroughs were no help, they just said, do "this" and you're done - I was like, yehhh, but I can't seem to do "that".

Anyway - anyone else experience this? I never really looked into it - maybe there's a cure.

1. The Longest Journey
2. Tex Murphy Overseer - Very poorly designed controls, terrible graphics.
3. The Final Cut - Poor game all around.

Had pleasure in uninstalling these.

TheDerman...I am going to be getting this game soon in the mail...I hope it doesn't happen to me too! frown I have given up on countless games due to tech errors, but to just give up on a game and be happy happy happy to uninstall it just cuz it's a bad game, well that is a horse of a different color! laugh Kind of a RED color at that! lol

We gave up on The Final Cut. It had nothing to do with difficulty... we just hated it and it was virtually unplayable because the interface sucked and the game made zero sense.

Chateau D'or - I played it almost to the end and just couldn't take it anymore.

Nine - the piano end puzzle - same reason.

Tale of Orpheo's Curse, one of my favorite games. The MAC version played brilliantly, but my MAC is broken. Sooo got it for the PC and have tried 20 times doing this and that to get it to run and no such luck. frown

Can't get Lost In Time to run, Ark of Time, Amazon Queen or the sound in Simon 1.

okay, here's a big bid to win the boohissboo award...I gave up on Gabriel Knight 3...no tech problems, but I swear if I had to listen to Tim Curry (Gabe) one more second I was gonna go postal!!! I like Tim Curry in general but sheesh! It was just waaaay to irritating!
I also gave up on Atlantis the Lost Tale on account of that save system, you know, the one they did NOT give you? Pttthhhh!!!

Beyond Atlantis. Between getting extremely dizzy from moving around, and trying to imitate that scungy Birdman.... mad I said the heck with this and traded the game. laugh Way too frustrating for me!

Re: What game did you just have to give up on? - 08/02/03 04:45 AM

My game was Lightfall. No one wanted to like this game more than me. It's really too hard, and too long, for me, but, given my trusty walkthrough for when I got stuck, I was willing to give it a go. I started it, got engrossed in the story, and then I was off, wending my way through the puzzles, and trying to figure out how I could get that little baby back. It certainly gave the character something to do - as far as I remember, the character wasn't doing much of anything, when the mystery intervened.

The problem was that I started to have trouble with the interface, and then I waited too long to finish the game. I just didn't like how the game looked, anymore. I can like how older games look, even though they are older, if something in "the look" appeals to me. That ceased to happen, with Lighthouse. I also found moving through the game to be awkward (and how hard can "point and click" be!) - it ended up being more and more difficult to get where I wanted to go. I don't know what it was, maybe I needed to reinstall the game. But, I didn't do that, I just stopped.

I was wondering what game that was until you mentioned the baby. I think you mean Lighthouse.

For me the game I couldn't stand to finish was Unreal. Even with a god mode it just wasn't worth my time. My brother was of the same opinion. Not only was it boring and repetitive, it looked like &^%$@! because we didn't have a Voodoo card in the computer.

I can't think of any adventure games I haven't gotten through eventually. There are some that have lain around waiting for a while though - like Last Express with its weird turn-back-the-clock system in place of saves.

The only game I ever gave up on was Odyssey just because I couldn't stand the "feel" of it for some reason. Otherwise I've finished every game I've ever started. Except for Gord@k and I haven't given up yet... And some day I KNOW I'm gonna go back to Odyssey. I still wonder...what happened??

oh goodie a chance to rant on my all time worst game ever. evil

ii very rarely give up on adventure games as they are typically short so i will finish them. I can think of 2 exceptions.

traitors gate: i gave up on because of 2 different tech problems that made the game virtually unplayable

and now for the game i gave up on because it is the absolute worst adventure game ever made, nothing even comes close:
the only game I ever wanted to destroy the cd's-

Mystery of the Nautilus I could not get past the steering wheel puzzle I made it once then made a mistake and had to go back from then on could not get the puzzle to work. Guess I am going to have to give up on Mystery of the Mummy too. There is no empty bottle in the wine cellar for me to pick up I picked it up once made a mistake and had to go back. When I went back the bottle was gone have unistalled and reinstalled 4 times with the same result cannot get past the empty bottle as it is not there.

Only 3 games so far that had me frustrated. I gave up on Grim Fandando at the 'wheelbarrow on the hose' puzzle. The keyboard controls were impossible for me to master. I enjoyed Monkey Island 1 and was looking forward to Le Chuck's Revenge. When I found myself virtually following the WT step by step, the game lost its appeal for me. I just couldn't bend my mind around the logic (or lack there of) of the puzzles. Which was why I had to call it quits in Return to Zork. Even the WT couldn't get me through the Forest of the Spirits and the dealings with the faries.

The only game I've totally given up on, is In Cold Blood (see Hints and Help forum). I just couldn't use the keyboard controls to get past all those armed guards, who killed me so many times, my body must have looked like Swiss cheese.

There are a couple of other games I never finished, but plan to do so someday: Odyssey, The Ward, 7th Guest, and maybe I'll give In Cold Blood another try someday.

Following months of frustration just to get it to work on our system, gave up on The Riddle of Master Lu after completing the Baron's Lab puzzle the first time with step-by-step instructions from walkthrough only to be faced with "now you have to undo what you just did and re-do it another way". Just threw my hands up and said "What's the point?"

Yes, it was true pleasure to uninstall it.

I gave up on ...

Rama - too much inventory

Myst III - couldn't get into it (not a big fan of the Myst series) and the game engine really bothered me

Normality - even when I turned down the sound I still couldn't stand the game.

I used to insist I finish every game that I started but now I feel like there are too many games and not enough time so I refuse to continue if I'm not enjoying it.

The Arrival and Nine for me. The Arrival for me was sort of like Schizm. Some puzzles seemed so technical (to my unscientific brain) they were boring. And Nine? Well, what can I say? Have to add the Crystal Key. Really boring.
Of course, without wts there would be a lot more!

The Longest Journey...talk, talk, talk

Ring II....I was really enjoying this game but for the life of me I couldn't get past the wall of nails. I tried for days and days. eek I'm too stubborn to accept a saved game. wink I'll try again some time.

The Ward gets my #1 vote, could not get through the LASER sequence just to open a door!
Then there was The Last Express......too frustrating even with a walkthrough
May give up entirely on Titanic An Adventure Out Of Time, started it more than once and it is just sitting on the shelf glaring at me!
There have been several that I did not get to start very well because of technical problems, don't remember what they are now...

So far I haven't given up completely on any adventure game. I've installed, played some and un installed quite a few however, but always tell myself I'll get through them some day and I will - some day.

But I swear the next time I try to play Nine, I'm going to shoot that annoying airplane right through the propeller lol

Just because of the raves I tried the original Myst and Riven both of which I wound up giving up on. Just can't get into games that are mostly puzzles with thin stories surrounding them. I like games with strong plotlines and character interaction which is why the Tex, Gabriel,Broken Swords, TLJ (sorry Dee but the very reason you disliked it is why I did), Black Dahlia and am currently playing Hitchcock and loving it. Oh well as they say different strokes for different folkes.

Happy gaming,

I've given up on so many games I can't even remember them all. Whenever a game stops being fun -- hey, there's LOTS of other games calling to me.

Omega Stone!!! I used the keycards just to visit the four main locations for a look, and ecstatically traded it for Salammbo.

Re: What game did you just have to give up on? - 08/02/03 09:23 PM

Wow, I'm starting to feel like a real trouper after reading this thread. I have mentioned before that the only games I gave up on were Traitor's Gate (glitch) and Of Light and Darkness (totally lost). I WANTED to give up on The Ward but stuck that one out. It could have been such a good game.

Glitches will ruin a game faster for me than anything else. I've been very lucky that I've encountered very few of them and most can be worked around. A few Boomers sound like this happens frequently to them, so I send my sympathies. We all know how it feels to have a buggy game, ick.

I don't blame you a lot, Granny. I absolutely adored Riddle of the Sphinx. Which is why The Omega Stone gets my vote for the Biggest Disappointment of 2003. I don't know what happened to the Toblers, but for the most part, TOS was missing all the beauty and sheer FUN that made RotS such a delight. By the time we finished Chichen Itza in TOS I had a headache, needed a shower to get all the virtual grime off, and made myself a giant Bacardi & Pepsi. laugh

After having stated this morning that the only game I ever gave up on was In Cold BLood, I'm thinking of giving up on another one - Arthur's Knights. I couln't play it two years ago on my old computer, because of my wimpy video card, so I tried it this afternoon with XP. It appears to be running so-so, but Holy Moley, what an awful interface! Mouse for inventory control, and keyboard to move your character around! Of course he keeps bumping into walls, but mostly he just shrugs his shoulders when I want him to do anything.

I've only been playing with it for about and hour, so I'll give it a little more time to see if this potential turkey is worth continuing with.

Re: What game did you just have to give up on? - 08/03/03 05:27 PM

Ok...oldman brought up what has become a very sore point with me.

Yes, Rama had some math in it. Some very basic math in Base 16 and in Base 8. There are even machines to assist you in doing the translation and give you tutorials in the simple addition and subtraction that is required set up adjacent to these two puzzles. Yes, there are only two little puzzles in the entire game which require math.

What seems to have stymied reviewers, walkthrough writers(with one notable exception) and players alike is that they all tried to use math to solve the puzzles of the keycard tiles. This is completely unnecessary, as the tiles cam be figured out using simple pattern recognition.

(Kudos to Tally Ho for recognizing and explaining it in his/her excellent walkthrough! I had it figured out on my own but ran across TH's walkthrough after I was done with the game and looking for advice on a particular point I had forgotten to help someone else.)

I compare it to a game puzzle where you are in a car and a tire goes flat. It seems that 99% of people went through the rigamarole of finding a rubber tree, tapping it, processing the rubber and making a new tire to put on the car. Tally Ho and I just looked in the trunk and put on the spare. Both methods work, but one kills the game and one lets it progress with minimal interruption.

It's true that the patterns on the (correct) tiles were rooted in many various alternative numbering systems. But every one of them could be solved by simple visual inspection of the tiles. ("Hmmm, in this set the dot moves 1 wedge clockwise in the outer ring with each succeeding tile, 4 wedges in the middle ring, and 2 in the center ring. So the missing tile must have dots here, here, and here.")

Sorry to temporarily hijack the thread like this, but as I said, this is a sore point with me. I believe that the reviewers who mention the hundred kinds of math necessary to play the game are scaring a lot of people away from discovering what I think is a truly great game. And the walkthrough writers who then offer those people who do buy the game the "rubber tree" solutions make sure hardly anyone finishes the game.

Pardon the interruption. We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread, already in progress.

I too never really got the point. BUT I'd have to say that there has never been one YET !!! that I completely gave up on...except Obsidian (Granny..you think you're going to get flack for Omega Stone)...I just did not see the logic in the pointlessness of going from one puzzle to the next ( it was like someone had lots of ideas for puzzles but no way to incorporate them into a logical theme-like grouping with story and all where what you did made sense to the game and it's ending. I took it out and gave it back to the person who so lovingly gave it to me..( I don't think they have really forgiven me for NOT liking it) But I did not..I at least tried it, and I could do it ...it just seemed pointless so I stopped...my bad !!!!!

The more I read your posts - the more I like the way your mind works, Jim smile

First - yes Dee - I was the one who didn't finish Shivers. smile What annoyed me was that you could only carry one lid around. I love the puzzles and the atmosphere - but the other feature aggrivated me at the time. I will finish it and just need to be in the right frame of mind.

Back to Jim.

I agree with the rubber tree analogy. I can never do a WT because I have such odd ways of solving game puzzles. For one thing if there is a number combo puzzle and it is 3 digits I will most certainly just cycle the numbers rather than look around or try to figure out the solution. I am there - it won't take long and then I can look in the safe or door or whatever the lock is hiding.

Mechanical puzzles I tend to fiddle with and click stuff. You never know and many times it somehow just gets solved. Why did it work? - don't know and I don't care. It's done. The railroad track puzzle in Schizm was a good example: I just played with the tracks - saw them moving in the right direction and fiddled with it here and there. Problem solved onto the next one.

I will solve a puzzle if required and some tickled me - some ticked me off. But I am always more into the story, characters, music and stuff than the puzzles. Unless of course it is a puzzle game that I am playing for that reason only. Like Cassandra Galleries, Milo, Mystery Museum. 7th Guest.

Wild Wild West was a game that I really liked - because there were always ways to be clever and get around a bad guy or situation without shooting. SO either way would work. I admire games with built in flexibility or a variety of clues to a possible solve. I of course used the visual clues to many puzzles in Rama myself. I don't think mathmatically but abstractly.

Well I can think of a few. I used to stick a game out to the end (cause I paid for it!) but now, if a game is bad, I'm outta there!

King's Quest 8 - just didn't like the new interface and having to fight people. Don't mind it in actual shooters but it didn't belong in this series.

Sanitarium - crashed beyond recovery, would've had to start from beginning - will try that one again sometime.

Tony Tough - once I realized the whole game took place in the park it got uninteresting - there didn't seem to be much of a point to the game. Felt like a free download almost.

Beyind Atlantis and Dracula Resurrection - just couldn't get into them, plan on trying again sometime in a slow period.

Re: What game did you just have to give up on? - 08/05/03 04:57 PM

I just finished playing 9 a few weeks back and liked it a lot. It reminded me quite a bit of Shivers in the sense the graphics were very vivid and unique, but it didn't utilize the whole screen. Plus the fact that you could only carry one inventory item. That last puzzle almost drove me crazy until I realized that *spoiler*

The green and yellow colors on the totem poles looked *extremely* similar to me. This threw me off in terms of what keys I was playing until I realized that what I thought was green was actually yellow! I wonder if others experienced a similar problem with identifying the color?

Re: What game did you just have to give up on? - 08/05/03 05:04 PM

As far as games I've (at least temporarily) given up on, they are:

1. Sacred Mirror of Kofun
I just hated this game so much, I wanted to break the cd into a million pieces and set fire to the box. Seeing that thread in the hints forum brought back all the agonizing memories of this game to me. frown

2. Trick or Treat
There is a point in this game, where it will crash without fail no matter what kind of computer I play it on. From a 486, to a pentium, from Win95 to Win98 to WinXP, it doesn't matter. I give up until someone smarter than me can find a way around it.

3. Arcatera
This is one RPG that I don't think is even possible to make the least bit of progress in, let alone think about finishing it. It is so buggy it puts even Zombieville to shame (and that's saying something!)

4. OpSys
I made it to the final puzzle in the game, and then gave up in frustration. This, like Blue Ice, was one of those games offering a prize to the first person to complete it, so I doubt I will ever bother to do so, even though the end is so tantalizingly close.

The game that I gave up on was;

The Journeyman Project II Buried in Time.
It was quite a few years ago. I recall there being a sequence where one is sort of "travelling through space". I also remember trying to negoitiate getting through this area. Needless to say, I did not get through the area. It's the only game I have ever played in which I broke the CD into several pieces and threw it in the rubbish heap. I also made a solemn promise to myself that hereafter I should never, ever purchase any sequel that may spawn from this horrible game. Well, ironically AND thankfully I renigged on that vow. I purchased Journeyman Project III somewhat later on. This turned out to be a game which will, for me, always be fondly remembered as one of my MOST favourite P.C. games!

Quite a few games that I gave up on and some sooner than others. Fastest quit was probably TimeQuest. Between all the rigamarole had to use just to play the game and the first mission, just decided it wasn't what I wanted to play. This game had coded card, etc for password protection. The first mission after finally, getting to Rome was to show Attila the power of God. Finally, looked at a walkthrough and found out was suppose to go to China and get TNT.

Most from a timed sequence that couldn't complete like in the Time Machine and Timeline though how this got described as an adventure is beyond me.

Shorah smile

I usually come back to games later when they frustrate me (with help if I can arrrange it), but in the case of Return to Zork I couldnt, because we'd just upgraded our computer & it wouldnt run. *sadness* A few family jokes still reference that game. Maybe one day I'll find a version that likes Windows.

I gave up on Schizm awhile back. I dont know why but the cd version was pretty only the first time I loaded it. Afterward it became highly pixelated. Add that to tough puzzles and well... I wasnt sure I'd ever finish it.

But I took a chance on Schizm dvd (kept hearing how much better it was) and Im glad we did! Wow was that pretty! And we were so tickled when we solved puzzles for ourselves (Yes, we needed a walkthrough for some bits). Great sense of completion when we finally won. My husband loved the railway track challenge. Scariest moment: I thought we'd really blown it when we finished the pipe thing and the Argilan showed up saying "So thats your choice then...." Mom wanted me to back up tot he last file and get out the walkthrough lol!

I quit Mystery of the Nautilus at the robot. I solved the sequence (partly by clicking on everything clickable) but it always got me anyway. After 15 bbqs, I realized that even if I got past that thing I might still lose because of the timer. Discouraging, to say the least. Besides, I'd already seen most of the Nautilus (The graphics are very pretty)

okay enough from me

wwwhheeee fun thread! laugh

Traitor's Gate>>Just got tired of the sewers
Nine>>>Yuk!
Chateau D'or>>>Couldn't uninstall this one fast enough!
The Quivering>>>>Stupid, with horrible interface.

Traitor's Gate: Loved the game, but I bought a new system, and just never got around to reinstalling so I didn't finish. I guess maybe I didn't love it all that much.

Beyond Atlantis 2: Tech problem

The Longest Journey: Tech problem, but probably would have given up anyway. Waaaay too much talking.

Riven: Bored to tears.

Qin: Number One on my list of all time boring games. I think I played all of 30 minutes before deciding this wasn't my cup of tea.

1, the Legend of Lotus Spring - lousy interface
2, Oddyssey, In Search of Ulysses - too hard to move around
3, the crystal key - yuck!
4, as of yesterday - Rhem - too many pipes - I don't want to be a plumber! also, very dingy scenery, and buildings that are like mazes

Forgot to add - American McGee's Alice - shudder!

Oh Fairy GodMother, I love your review of Rhem! bravo thumbsup lol

Re: What game did you just have to give up on? - 08/06/03 01:39 AM

Ah! I forgot about Rhem. First time I played, and got dumped to 640x480, I said this isn't going to work. Wish I was among the lucky few who traded, rather than paid for it as I did.

This game, unlike Qin, didn't last 30 minutes. It didn't last 30 seconds.

Maupiti Island (must be the 102th. time I mention this game). I _did_ eventually finish it but it took me like... er... five years or so. Probably the game I most gave up on and resumed.

I did give up on a few more but this one remains my all-time record!

Oh good grief nickie - I totally forgot about A Fork in the Tale - I think I'm having flashback nightmares.

Okay......That games that I hated the most were:

-----Nine
-----Gabriel Knight Series -Could never figure out what to do next in any of the games without a hint or a walkthrough. So, I just gave up.
-----Riddle of The Sphinx
-----Alfred Hitchcock: The Final Cut

I gave up on The Time Machine. That was a major stinker. I also played Odyssey for about an hour and gave up on that as well. A few games I have just not gotten around to finish, like Omega Stone, Nautilus. I plan to, though.

Just thought of some more pet baddies...

Urban Runner - I get exhausted every time I even think of this game

Night Trap - blech
Panic In the Park - I detest anything arcade
MadDog McCree - see above reason.
DogDays - liked the game ok - but an arcade machine in a laundry room stopped me cold.

The Time Machine. Couldn't get my character to climb onto a crate for some reason, and finally gave up because I wasn't enjoying the game anyway.

Arthurs Quest: Horrible, horrible game.

Schizm - games should be fun. That one gave me a headache. And one more, I think it was Time Machine? slapforehead It had a lot of keyboard controls, I prefer mouse driven.

EEK! I havent played Time Machine yet, its still on my to-do pile. smile

I forgot to add Labyrinth one of the first cd adventure games. Giving up on it was not optional seeing as we got it in the days before walkthroughs (It didnt rate a guide). Were we the only ones here to play that turkey?

Re: What game did you just have to give up on? - 08/08/03 08:39 PM

Is that the Labyrinth game that was a takeoff on the movie or "Labyrinth of Time?"

"Labyrinth of Time" was the first "real" DOS game I ever played - the first one that wouldn't play in Win 98. I first played it in silence on my 486 back when that computer still had the horrible PCI Esswood sound card in it that wouldn't work in DOS. It was the first "real" DOS game (not DOS/Win95) that I was able to get sound on (after buying an ISA SB16 card). So I'm sort of nostalgic about it.

As for walkthroughs, I heard about walkthroughs years before I bought my first game. The guy I used to work for played Doom during his free time and he used walkthroughs he got off the net.

For me it was definitely Schizm. There have been others but that one stands out the most.

Nautilus, like many others, I played up to that horrible robot...dare I say...puzzle? More like death match. You lose. Game over. And over. And over. And uninstalling. And scrubbing my brain with Brillo. Ahhhhh....

The Quivering stayed on long enough to figure out how to save & then uninstalled in repulsion. Saving by killing things is just....eeewwweeee.

Bad Day on the Midway. I just don't get what all the hoopla is about. In fact, I just don't get it.

For me, I'd pick Schizm. I wanted to finish it so bad, clinging to the walkthrough and I got really far, but in the end, I had to say, "Put it away!"

Re: What game did you just have to give up on? - 08/09/03 05:03 AM

Howdy smile

Jenny, I think it was Labyrinth of Time. Its the one where you are supposedly acting on behalf of Deadelus ~ the zombie (at least thats what he looks like). Parts of it are like a western town (that bit was quite fun) & there's a hotel & a Greek temple & a diner & a antique hotel & a flying rock/spaceship complex etc etc Sound right to you?

It *was* pretty. Especially for its day. We liked it a lot at first but the gameplay consisted of going over the same ground and further.... back and forth from one edge to another...just to try another idea for yet another locked door. If you got past it you simply faced more locked doors & the bits to open them where usually very far away. It got really old after awhile. Especially that clown area with the horrible laughter. Short cuts & zip modes would have done wonders fot it smile

& This was way before we had access to anybody's walkthroughs when we were playing that one. From what I read, the internet changed drastically between the time it came out and when we got it in 2000. Hard to believe it would have warranted much support.

You see, Labyrinth came free with the cd drive we'd gotten on layaway to upgrade Ole Frankenstein (our pooter) for the original Myst. I think it may indeed have been a DOS only game.

btw Im going to have to take Return to Zork off this list because my husband baaged a DOS only copy of RTZ-cd at a thrift store this weekend. It runs! WWWHHEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

(He also picked up Broken Sword:Templars. Hope it runs too!)

GRRR, Omega Stone. After consulting a walkthrough endlessly, I finally gave up. The locations amazed me, but the game play didn't flow enough to make sense to me.

It's scared me from reaching out to games.

Alfred Hitchcock's The Final Cut didn't seem to like my computer too much and wouldn't let me play it the whole way through. So I think the game decided it was done with me instead of the other way around. lol

Re: What game did you just have to give up on? - 08/09/03 03:05 PM

Bureau 13, Inca II and Alfred Hitchcock: The Final Cut all drove me temporarily bonkers when I way playing them. Buggy, dumb and worthless, in that order. smile The list is long, but those standout in my mind at the moment.

Re: What game did you just have to give up on? - 08/09/03 04:49 PM

Schizm for me as well, I just lost interest in playing the game. Plus, it didn't help that the game disk, and the replacement disk, had problems on each that caused my system to lag. My system that ran four Myst, ROTS, Crystal Key(another story), unfinished Chemicus, and Rhem with no trouble. I haven't uninstalled Schizm, yet, I keep toying with the idea of finishing it, but I haven't found the proper mood, yet.

Angel Devoid? Arrrrgghh - oh sorry - just had a flashback lol

What!

Angel Devoid, a game to toss out - we must be wrong... Gamespot had this to say.. laugh

And even if you're one of the brave few who actually admitted that they hated Myst, you may still want to check this out for a few simple reasons: better graphics, actual interaction with characters and moving objects, and a more coherent storyline. The biggest shocker of all? It actually plays like a game, rather than a Novocaine-induced walk through the forest.... RATING 6.7

Amazing, isn't it? Even with that "high praise," Gamespot still only rated it 6.7 (I assume out of 10?). What does that say about Myst? But "better graphics" - we must be talking about a different Angel Devoid. LOL!

True, Jenny100 - that's what I meant with my rhetorical question. smile What I was intimating at, is that with all the good things the Gamespot reviewer said about Angel Devoid in comparing it to Myst, it makes you wonder what was wrong with it that it only got a 6.7 rating...had to be "something" wrong with it in their opinion.

Syd, I think Fork in the Tale was the inspiration of somebody's flashback nightmare laugh I rue every day I looked so hard to find it. Sometimes it's for something they don't mention - or for something they say is bothersome, but don't really explain HOW bothersome. More often it's that they just don't care that much for that genre of game.
