#2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 06/24/04 03:51 AM

Hi everyone:

I guess I'll start the second thread. Mods, if you see this can you put a link or something to it from the old thread? I'm not quite sure how to do it.

Anyway, I'm in Act III in the Underground Library trying to get the Book of Twilight for Cytha. The head librarian says I can't take it out. What should I do? I don't want to attack them or all the Ranaar with hate me from now on. Any suggestions?

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 06/24/04 06:28 AM

I didn't do the quest because of the very same reason, but from what I've read, if you kill those particular Ranaar, it isn't a problem with the others.

Jean, I dispatched them all in reverse to the way Nickie did it. When I took the book the two in the room attacked - so worked my way back through the rooms taking care of everyone lol but later met a dreaded blood knight behind the temple and downed him in seconds rotfl

That's the way it goes.

Onward and upward, Jean. Good must overcome evil.

See you later.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 06/24/04 06:12 PM

Hi again.

At the moment I am searching around for food - non in the inventory so can't sleep lol

Also being shunted from one place to another in a certain forest! At times am not given the opportunity to pick up the loot Ahhhhhh! Did anyone ever find the teleporter in this area?

Also carrying around the Staff of Power but have no idea who needs it. Thought it would be the same people who gave me the Seeing Stone quest but nobody mentions it.

whatever - talking of food has made me hungry so think I'll take a break and make a sandwich.

Be looking in later - I hope.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 06/24/04 08:07 PM

Has everyone gone home?

Spent the last three hours doing the teleport tango. Got to area 7 and dispatched the two baddies - BUT didn't find what I expected. Can get back with my stone so am now inspecting, when the tango allows me to stay in one place long enough, to clear the other small black patches.

Now I'm off to bed to mull over what I'm expected to do next. Met the lonely elemental and received a pressie from him, and also the trapped Raanaars. This is a real brain teaser. Despite this I did level up again. Wonders of wonders. Although there is still no food in the pantry lol

Night, night, another day tomorrow.

luv

Hi Jean and Alice, wave
Sorry Alice, gone all day.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="tongue.gif" />
That merry go round place, just clear as much of the areas as you can before getting zapped.
This is the quest you received from the guy in the house Northeast section outside the city gate.
To fix the area's teleporter.
The staff of power is in a cave that you find in the back of the city walls. You have to visit the prisoner first to get the combination to get in (told in secret) just remember - don't take the staff to the temple until you're ready to depart from this area-no going back at all.
Hoped that help a bit.

Jean,
I'm like Nickie, I just didn't do the quest-didn't want to kill them over a book that didn't belong to that nasty witch.

I stood right next to the book, picked it up and used my teleporter stone which took me back to the city where I'd left the other one. I wasn't sure you should kill those Raanar.

Debra, what a great idea! I'll give it a try tonight. I hate leaving quests unsolved.

I'm at rank 2, and Kiya just challanged me to a dual for the DK. rotfl She said I should meet her in her crypt. Is that one of the ones not to do until I'm finished with all the quests? think

Hi Jean - you have just asked a question I was about to post!

Can someone loan me a crystal ball please? I certainly need one.

lol

Sooooo - am in a dilemma - do I go ahead, miss out the temple, the last two BF's and the quests I can finish only by entering the temple, or what?

Decisions, decisions. wave

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 06/25/04 06:59 PM

Syd has given the Shaman a rest for a bit. Her son has one terrific mother (he is so lucky to have me) and let him borrow her computer so he could run two accounts on Dark Ages of Camelot. In the meantime she is using her old P700 to play games on and is currently roaming around Talanzaar in Outcast and having a blast - literaly - blast a soldier here, blast a crab/spiider thingy there laugh

I will eventually get back to said Shaman sometime, probably, maybe whistle

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 06/25/04 08:57 PM

Hi Jean and Alice and Syd, wave
You have to beat Kiya to be able to get rank #1.
After that you are allowed in the temple, just go to the rank keeper and you'll be told. You can then proceed whenever you are ready.
You go in and talk to the Black Bishop to get the quest to help him kill the goddess and be allowed in the prison to talk to the prisoner about the Staff of Power, he's the only one that can allow you to open the cave-secret mummers and all.
The staff has to be picked up and placed in inventory, it is a stick with a circular end to it.
Alice,
How were you able to get into the cave without talking to the prisoner?

Go ahead and meet Kiya at the O.K. corral..er, cyrpt I mean, and fight for your DK..it's a little on the funny side.
The only thing to be concerned with is this:
Once you open the stairwell in the temple and descend down the stairs, you cannot go back up.
So finish everything else you want to finish first. This means all the areas above ground, check your maps.
Yes, the wastelands is where you shall be sent.

You can go to the BF's anytime-that is not the story line, so when you pick up BF key #6 (inside the temple, down the stairwell), go on to BF's and finish them up.
I don't know if there is a key for BF 5, I suppose there is, I just never tried to find it I guess.
Those teleporter quests: you bounce around and cover a little more ground each time, finally the whole area is covered and the quest solved for that one. Then you have to replace the stone in the teleporter-I think an imp or something gives you the stone or gem.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 06/26/04 05:15 AM

Well, I went back and stole the book from the Library. lol I've kind of been jumping back and forth from the crystal forest to the ash forest, and am really going to have to check my maps to make sure I haven't missed anything. I haven't started on the seeing eye quests yet.

Ingie, I also have the staff of power without talking to the prisoner first. I got to the cave a while back. I haven't yet gotten in to see him.

I guess that's it for the night! So many characters to interact with makes me tired. sleep

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 06/26/04 10:06 AM

smile Oldman, John, if you look in can you tell me where you met Kiya for the second time, please? From a much earlier thread I understand you declined to fight at the first meeting then put her down on the second meeting.

At present I am feeling ready for her - need to get into the temple. If your second meeting was in the crypts how did you access the temple? Understood that once in the crypts it is impossible to go back.

Has anyone else met Kiya in the crypts who will help me - would appreciate it.

Have recently installed the last patch which appeared to create a bug. Everything moving on screen shook - even searching through the inventory when trading. Solved this by config and using the next resolution down. Mention this as it may help someone in the future.

Now back to the fray - thumbsup Can I suggest you invest in the shaman hammer?

Ingie - was looking for the book for Barnabus when the entrance to the Staff of Power cave highlighted and I read the rune! Wonders never cease lol

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 06/26/04 11:04 AM

Hi Threads,
I'm about the same place as you in the game. You will go into the crypt on the west side (outside) of the temple to fight Kiya. You can get back out of this crypt. You will then be sent to get the crystal. You can come back out in the crypt on the right side of the temple. A messenger was waiting for me told me the bishop wanted to talk to me.
I then went into the temple and talk to the bishop who told me to go see the prisoner.
I didn't take the staff of power with me, I left it in the house I bought.
I met Kiya in front of the building where you read the billboard. Since you have already met her, she may be in the crypt. If you check it and it doesn't say locked, then she is down there. I'm getting ready to go back to the temple and use the staff of power soon as I do a few things first. Good Luck!

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 06/26/04 10:43 PM

Hi Alice,
Thanks for the greeting!
I wasn't sure if you needed to see the prisoner or not. Didn't want to take a chance and mess up anything, so went to see him anyway. I found the staff of power earlier also, so I just put it away until I needed it.
I have been reading the threads from everyone, but have been behind. Just caught up with you and Jean. I still have to do battlefields 5 and 6. I think I'm on level 4 in the crypt, but I'm going to go do the battlefields before I go any farther down.

Hi again Kay.

Word of advice. Finish exploring the crypt before taking the crystal fragment.

Have you tried passing the amulet for the ghost's sister into DK's inventory for safe keeping. It's hilarious but be warned - SAVE YOUR GAME FIRST.

Happy hunting - I'm off to clear BF6.

Will be back - Alice

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 06/27/04 01:49 PM

Hi Kay and Alice:

I'm around where the two of you are. I killed Kiya, got the crystal fragment and solved tht one, and am now back in either the Ash or Burnt forest solving the teleporter puzzle. It's a weird place because I keep getting teleported here and there to fight elementals. They're in groups and pretty strong. Did you see them?

Anyway, I'm going to try to finish the forests before going down the stairs in the temple. I think I remember you saying the key to BF6 is there. I sure hope so, because I'm close to leveling up to 28. rotfl I bought acid rain, which is kind of fun, but it needs to be leveled up for more power.

Have fun! I'll check back in later to see where everyone is.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 06/27/04 03:08 PM

Jean,
The bouncy place is actually a quest to solve.
Each time you're bounced, try covering just a little more terriotory until you bounce again, keep an eye on your map as you unfog some of each area.
The teleporter is out of whack you could say rotfl

How in tHE #)$*()#*@ do I get to the out of whack teleporter? Through being bounced all over the place I more or less know where it is, but can't get to it. I even trying using my pyramids to hop over the lava crevice, but it bounces me back over again. HHEEEELLLLPPP!!!! I've been at this for hours. help

How did you do it? Or did you just keep getting closer in until you were there. I am really stuck!

Well, I thought to disable the seeing stone I read to put the mirror on it. I did, and now even though the seeing stone pans, no figures can be seen, so I thought that was it. But, when I went back to the Ranaar rebel he told me to disable it! duh I'm going to search the old thread to see if anybody did anything different, but if anyone sees this, please help!

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 06/27/04 05:51 PM

Jean,
You take the mirror to one of the locations that is seen through the seeing stone-I used the tent in army camp as it was close. It has to be the right tent-if this is what you use. You just lay the mirror down and then have a look through the seeing stone. It goes through the motions, you see your mirror, then back off, and try to use it again..it should not be broke.
Split your party up or use your stones, much faster!

laugh Hi Kay.

My first day at school although I didn't see you around. Have needed to tackle some real life jobs today before I could start playing.

To date I haven't received any quests.

Have 2 BF keys but not allowed to go out to play at this time. I wonder if we are ever given a break from lessons. Hoping so, mum packed me a lunch bag to keep in my satchell with all the other odd things I've been collecting. She packed enough for both of us. It might not tempt you as it is dumped in with bat guano, and odd things such as bats wings and toad legs for making spells lol )leading into the room to the north - 12 on the map. Wouldn't mind a shove with that - as hard as you like.

Think I might call it a day, still have a real life job to finish before I go to bed.

See you tomorrow. Can't get into the game again until I return from the supermarket. Am sure these tasks are there just to keep me away from my computer.

Jean, when do you hope to graduate into the fourth form to join Kay and myself? See you soon.

Luv to all,

I passed all the tests. I'm also trying to get the imp to take the gems. I have 2 red and 2 yellow, but can't figure out how to use them.

In the room where the broken wall, there is a body on the floor with a pickaxe on it. You need it to break the wall. There you will find something to open the star shaped lock on the door. Hope you didn't sell the pickaxe.

Been to the first battlefield. Those Black Ring Mages are tough with their spells.

Hi Everyone:

Last night I found the BF 6 key, so I'm on the first level of BF 5. These monsters here are a lot tougher, and my poor summoning dolls keep getting killed. I guess I'll have to give them some skills, or uplevel them. I'm really fond of the little guys! lol

I bought the fireball spell that nickie mentioned, and will get it as soon as I uplevel. I have a couple I'd like to get rid of, but don't have enought gold just yet. It's so expensive! Like 26,000 pieces of gold. I bought back someting in act I and it wasn't as much. Hopefully I'll have the gold by the time I finish this dungeon.

Time to do my real job. I hate how work interferes with my gaming! rotfl

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 06/30/04 07:16 PM

rolleyes Well Kay - you haven't seen me in school today, I know.

Real life kept me busy until after supper and since then have finished BF1 dungeons - two baddies and 2 quests off the list, would you believe?

The rest of the evening I have been searching for BF2 - gosh my feet are sore. Found 4 locked dungeons (so there must be six in all) and, just a few moments ago reached to entrance of BF2. They are certainly hard to find, especially now we have lost our teleporter stones. So have saved and will tackle that tomorrow.

Have studied the maps closely with my trusty magnifying glass (think I am a descendant of Sherlock Holmes lol ) but there is no mention of the whereabouts of BF6 key. If anyone knows then please share the secret with us.

The only time I have been inside the Academy was to catch the next bus back to the Battlefields. Mind you, they are pretty frequent rotfl

Jean, I take it you will soon be joining us in class - good going. I've got the kettle on - be sseing you.

And that's me for the night - these 5am mornings don't 'alf take the stuffing out of me. Which reminds me.

BTW the 'permanent' potions and rocks from the lab. I gave the potions to Karen and the rocks to DK - he has a stronger digestive system laugh but although they did increase the stats for a while they certainly are NOT permanent.

Jean, when you get to the Academy, Alice makes some yummy lunches. lol

Tonight I'll finish the dungeon and hopefully get back to the crypt, and onto Act IV tomorrow! happydance I hope there are some sandwiches left for me rotfl

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/01/04 07:27 PM

happydance Jean when you arrive there'll be a pile of sandwiches and a great big welcome sign.

Real life intruded into my playing time today frown and I have learned one thing - playing truant by clearing two BF's in a row is going to put me behind. went back to finish the summoning test and completely forgot what I was doing lol At least I am getting used to reading everything on screen with its help.

Jean, it is even more slow levelling up in Act 4. I only levelled once while clearing two dungeons duh At the moment am down in the pipes wandering around lost to know what to do next. THINK the only thing missing for a summoning is the rune but cannot trigger the keeper of the rune room. Any ideas on that Kay?

Well, I need to make one or two phone calls so am calling it a day.

With luck will drop in tomorrow.

Best of luck to both of you - good gaming.

Alice, After talking to Ansuhar, the summoning teacher and the keeper of the rune room, I just clicked on each rune on the wall and each one will teleport you to a room where you can get one of the runes. Be sure and pick up each rune after you fight the bad guy because you can't go back. You will have several of them in your inventory when you finish.

I thought I was the only one who forgot what they were doing when I left for awhile! lol

I'm almost ready to go to Academy Level 4. Got to clear out BF5 dungeon first. Still haven't found a BF6 key yet.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/02/04 05:19 PM

Kay - I seem to be doing things back to front, as usual lol but I have been following the map all the time - I think.

At the moment am not sure how to proceed because I have all the runes (12), the mushroom, spider leg and correct special potion in the inventory but the raanaar in the first summoning room ( #6 on the map) tells me something is missing. Have stood in the circle and placed the bits and bobs on the floor with one rune and received the same info. Perhaps I should use a different rune.

Whatever, cannot get any further because haven't a clue what is wrong. Hoping you, or someone who has completed the game, can come to the rescue.

Also - is there anywhere further on in the game where I will have to use the dolls because haven't any idea how to use them. Also seem to be ok with just DK to keep an eye on all the time. At times he does the most unexpected things and has to be rescued - problems, problems.

In the meantime will start clearing BF3.

Until we meet again.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/02/04 05:41 PM

Hi everyone: I didn't get a chance to play last night. I fell asleep right after dinner and that was it for the night!

Anyway, Alice I use the summoning dolls all the time to fight for me. I'm not as far along as you are, so I don't know if you absolutely have to use them, but it's not hard.

Go into your inventory and click on a doll, and it will appear next to yours and DK's pictures on the upper right. It will have stat screens and everything else that you have, so if they're fighting for you make sure to keep an eye on that. They can use potions, just the same as you. Don't forget that you have to include them in your party to get them to move along with you by clicking on F4 so everyone in the party moves together.

If they get killed, there is a little bit of a wait before you can use them again, although you can click on them in your inventory and they'll show up on the screen. You'll just see light swirling around them until they're ready.

One thing I've found that is handy is if I don't want them, or if they get stuck in a wall, I can click on them in the inventory (while they are part of my party) and that will take them out of the party. Reclicking will bring them back in. This can come in really handy.

I also use them to lug around stuff for me when me and Dk have too much to carry.

Make sure if they're going to fight for you to give them weapons and armour. Check them occasionally to make sure to do repairs when needed.

I hope this helps! They're really useful. It's fun to watch because sometimes I want my party to go one way, and half of them split up and run around to another door, just as if they have minds of their own! lol

Have fun!

happydance

But back to the game - how I hate being torn away from it. Strange how in mixes with real life. If I drop something I want to click on it to pick it up. That's is only one instance.

Well, it is getting quite dark so guess it's nearly time for bed. Another day tomorrow. A fresh day and a fresh mind - who knows, I might get somewhere lol

Alice, You need to use the rope and take the mushroom to Nixfix, and give it to him. He will then give you the Kohar Root. You should have everything else you need then.

Jean, I have never used the dolls because I always seem to need the skill points for other things.
I have a hard time just keeping up with DK and myself. lol

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/03/04 04:24 PM

Hi Alice:

Your dolls can only move a certain distance before they disappear, but you can give them a skill point to increase their radius. The good thing is that even when they disappear they still have the goods on them when you resummon them! So, there's no need to worry that you'll lose what you've given them.

I usually load them up, and then teleport out to sell stuff. When you teleport they disappear and you resummon them when you get to where you're going. Either transfer all their stuff to your inventory, or have them drop it and pick it up. Works like a charm! lol I'm even making the Ranaar doll pull her weight. She'll really be complaining about me when she's made real again. scared

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/03/04 07:30 PM

Well Kay, don't know how it happened but must have triggered something - suddenly found myself in the room with the teleporter to the second level.

Went down the rope to Nixfix and exchanged one thing for another but there is no way I can get his nephew to mention the locked door and cough up a key.

Passed the first test laugh Now trying to work out how to give the second tutor the proof he wants. What type of proof? Am ambling around asking everyone for the book on summoning - it might be already in my inventory - if I could read it lol

When Jean arrives we'll have a picnic on the lawn beside the traders. By now the sandwiches are curling at the edges.

But I'm off to bed now. The answer might come to me in my dreams rotfl

Goodnight to one and all.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/03/04 10:51 PM

Hi Alice,
Did you go talk to Dotharhar in the Component Clerks room? He will tell you who has the book. Then go talk to both Nixfix and Taxlehix, the two imps down the rope. (I think that's their name)Taxlehix will give you the key to open the gate. The book you need is on the dead imp, who is the drug dealer, in pipes level 2. When you find him that's your proof.

Yea! I finished the game this morning. I have a lot of potions left if you or Jean need them. lol

I only made it to level 33. I still had 2 quests to do in the Battlefields but no BF6 key to get in to finish them.

Jean, this level is more confusing than the others.
It doesn't take much to confuse me. lol

Oh, boo, I think I made a mistake. In the crypt I picked up on the crystal fragment before getting the other runes to give to the Ranaar. I got War, but didn't go down the two sets of stairs. So, I ended up with the necromancer, lizards, got crystal, killed necromancer, and now I've been thanked by Anlokar and am up top again. Wasn't I supposed to do something down the stairs? <img border="0" alt="cry" title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" />

I guess I'll go back and redo it, even though I hit level 29. Darn and Darn! If anyone's reading this, did I miss anything important? Right now I'm going to watch Return of the King so won't get back to the game for a few hours.

Hi Jean,
Getting the three runes for the Ranaar was for the quest to restore the doll. One of them was down the stairs. That's all you missed. Both sets of stairs went to the same room. I don't know if not restoring the doll will make any difference in the game or not. I did the same thing as you.
Had to go back to a save to be able to restore the doll. If you don't restore the doll, you'll probably just miss out on that quest and be able to continue.

I started the game around the first of June, but quit for awhile to play something else. Since I retired over a year ago, I spend too much time playing, but I love it.
I've enjoyed the game, but it wasn't as good as Divine Divinity. smile

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/04/04 10:41 PM

Hi, I just finished Ice Wind Dale and started Beyond Div. I had a few questions that I thought maybe all you experts could help me with. I'm still in Act I.

How does paying teachers help? I can't see how it helps me learn anything. Do I still need to spend points and get it that way. I keep checking the manual but it doesn't really explain it that well.

Also, it keeps saying I'm encumbered even though my weight limit seems to be below what I can carry. Am I reading it wrong?

I went to the battlefields and got some quests. Do I find the items for these quests back in the dungeon?

Thanks.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/05/04 02:03 AM

Hi Alice, Kay, and Tamia:

Alice, were the sandwiches stale? I guess I was so hungry I didn't notice. lol It's probably I good thing I ate since you said the monsters are even tougher in this act.

Kay, thanks for the tip on the Ranaar summoning doll. I'll be glad to get another one to do my dirty deeds for me. evil

Hi Tamia, and welcome to the world of BD. Yes, you do have to pay the teachers to get the skill, because skill books are few and far between. What happens is, you pay a teacher, or find a skill book, and then get the skill you want. BUT, you don't actually have the skill until you level up and get a skill point to use (at every 5th level you'll get 2). At that time you go into your skill screen and choose which one you want to put the point to. It's a bit confusing the first few times you do it.

You will get the notice you're encumbered even though it looks like you can carry more weight. I don't know why that is, but it happens. One of the things I do (and no one else here has done it that I've seen) is use the summoning dolls to carry things around for me.

If I remember right, most of the quests in Level I are in the Battlefields, but you will also have quests given to you in the dungeons to solve.

What are you playing as? Have fun! wave

Jean

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/05/04 03:46 AM

Tamia, I may be wrong about the percentage, but I think it shows you encumbered at 70% of what you can carry. You can still walk with the weight, but it slows you down, and if you keep adding items you'll finally just stop cold.
The quests you get in the battlefields have to be solved in the battlefields.
The skill system was the only thing I did not like about this game, horribly confusing and clumsy. Paying the teachers just gives you the ability to have that skill, but it doesn't actually give you the skill. What it does is open that tree in the skill section, so you have more to select from when you apply your points that you receive upon leveling up. You buy the skill from a teacher, but it only goes up so high in level, and then you have to buy it again from a teacher to increase the level (say from a level three spell to a level five spell).
Posted By: Tamia

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/05/04 05:53 AM

Thanks Nickie and JMK. I think I understand a little better. That skill thing is confusing but I think I'm starting to get it now. When you buy a skill tree choice, does it go for both of your people or just the one who bought it?

I will have to go back to that battlefield then, because I walked all over and and only found four or five people and a few items. Is the level 1 battlefield bigger than one screen? I just can't see where anything else could be.

And more question. The book didn't say that you are penalized for playing on easy level so does that mean you still get just as many experience points for killing a monster on easy as on hard?
Shesh! I feel like such a baby!

Aside from these questions, I'm having a lot of fun. I've been playing the D&D Black Isle games for so long, this is a nice change.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/05/04 10:20 AM

Tamia, Welcome to the BD gang.

A long time ago Rowan mentioned the characters can carry two thirds of their strength - this works out about right. Usually when one character gets encumbered I find that just by moving potions from one inventory to another will have them both unencumbered. At times just a potion weighing 2 or 3 points will do the trick.

Rownan also gave a tip about the battlefields which works for me. The dungeons are not in the traders area - you need to find a path to the right. But, for example, if you have found and cleared one or two dungeons then discover next time everything appears blacked out then bring your cursor to the right edge of the screen (but don't click on it) and it will roll sideways and clear the area you have already travelled. Does this make sense to you?

It is a bind having to actually part with gold before you can use your skill points, unfortunately that is part of the game. One tip here. The traders are expensive. I have found that most Imps sell higher level skills at much lower prices. In any conversation I always ask an imp what he can teach me.

Also near the end of an Act I buy everything I want before levelling up - it is all much more expensive in the next Act.

I like the game and am enjoying it though not as much as Divine Divinity.

Have fun.

Luv,

Alice.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/05/04 05:00 PM

Tamia, it's a bit confusing at first, but you're a veteran of much harder games, so no doubt you will pick up on this quickly.
Yes, when you purchase the learning, it can apply to either or both characters to use when you have the skill points.
What Threads mentioned about the scrolling in the battlefields would be a help for sure, but it did not work on my computer. One thing that helped me though was flagging the dungeons when I came across them, as depending on which keys you have found to unlock them, they will either be available to you or locked, and the flags were easy to see, even on the black map.

Oh dear, I thought I was home and dry lol

All prepared to open the last rift which is marked THE END on the map - and it wouldn't.

Gave it some thought. Looked back at the maps I'd been using and realised I didn't complete the graves thingie.

Am now back in the graves and dashed if I can work out how to open those five graves with the chains. HELP.

So near and yet so far. Oh gosh.

Must mention I found another BF key in a golden chest. As I had BF5 thought this must be BF6 - guess what - it was a second BF5.

Gave YOU KNOW WHO a good thrashing for killing the imps and that dear friendly old spider who wanted to build something to leave to his grandchildren. The urge to do that was a great incentive to keep right on to the end of the road.

Now - I need a lesson about pulling chains (not the usual ones lol ) Who can help, please? The end of the road is in sight and have a special reason for wishing to complete B.D before the 15th.

See you later.

Hi Ingie - there is a map for GRAVE in Act 4.

One needs to demolish walls to get to 5 graves at the back and, so I presume, the only way to open those graves is to maniplulate the chains.

Actually had an idea when I came to life again at two hours back (5.30am) so was checking here to discover if I was going to do the right thing. Am off to try that now. laugh

syberia 2 is a fun game. tamia, very interesting to hear you actually praise the save sytem. to me, not being able to name your saves is a negative. don't like it at all.

alice, have you tried Dungeon siege yet? point n click and fast paced.

Hi Tamia:

Check out this link for maps in BD:

Beyond Divinity Help Maps

Each battlefield (BF) has a key, and they can be found in different places. There are 6 BFs per act, each with 3 levels. The keys are sequentially numbered, but, if you find, say, BF Key 6 it will open all the other 5 in each act. Offhand I don't remember where the keys are, but looking on the maps will tell you.

The Act IV BFs are really tough! It's taking me a little longer since the monsters all gang up on my people all at once as soon as they go through a door or exit. Whew! scared

Alice,
Love go into the Dark Twisty List at the top of our wonderful forum of RPG=Roll Playing Games- and you'll see a bunch.

Have you played Morrowind yet, if not I recommend getting Morrowind with the expansions!
Big Graphics and the story line is good and fun and with the 2 expansions you have 3 games in one about 6 months of playing time and allowing your character to grow.

It's a great game...I think you'd really like it.

Also, Zanzarah, but I think you tried that didn't you? If not it is one I think you would enjoy

I liked the save game system in Syberia 2 because you can just click, click, click and get back to the game. I hate to stop and name games. In my RPGs I just name them 1,2,3 and so on. Once in a while I will toss in a reminder if I'm supposed to go something.

I found two battlefield 1 keys. But in the battlefield two of the enterances to dungeons say they are locked and I haven't found a key for them. I just went back through the first dungeon again.

it looks like i may be starting BD real soon. so looking for advice on character development and skills-- what is good and what to avoid. the only thing i know is that lockpicking is broken. i do tend to like warrior character with some magic abilities. are swords the best weapons? what about 1 handed vs 2 handed, etc. should my character and death knight be different or can both be warriors.

waht are the best skills to take? what are the best spells?

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/08/04 11:51 PM

Wait, what about lock picking being broken? Am I wasting my skill points on lockpicking for nothing?! I always have someone be good at lockpicking in RPGs because I hate seeing a box and not knowing what's in it! laugh

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/09/04 03:29 AM

Hi Tamia: Everyone who has posted here so far has said lockpicking didn't work for them, so I didn't buy it. Actually, so far I've only come across a few things that I couldn't get into, because keys could usually be found. So, I guess it's up to you. Some people here didn't have luck with the disable traps skill, but a few of us really liked it.

Zanthia, I usually play more of a mage with some warrior skills, so I'm not the best person to give advice on a warrior character. For a mage, it's best to get a ranged weapon so you can stand back and let the heavy duty warriors get in there.

My Death Knight is a warrior, however, and I have him very heavy in two handed weapons (swords, etc). I started out one handed with shields, but the further along I got the more I used two handed.

I guess it just depends on what your two characters are going to be. I love swords, but, as I said, for my main character ranged weapons seem to work better.

I finally finished BF 1 in Act 4! rotfl

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/09/04 05:11 AM

Well, I've been able to open one lock so far. Don't know if I'll buy that any more or not now.

I had thought you had to finish the battlefields in the same act.

For my warrior, so far I have been using whatever the best sword is I can get my hands on and switch off with bows and arrows so that I can get some monsters before they get to me. I also had my warrior learn some repair skills so I can repair on the run. Nothing worse than being stuck with a broken weapon in the middle of a battle.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/09/04 01:44 PM

Tamia, I never was able to use lockpick skills so bought them back. Costly - gets more costly in each Act. I also never used the dolls. DK and Karen were doing so well I just didn't give them a thought.

Zanthia - I played with DK as a strong two handed weapon warrior and the main character as a surviver (Using cross-bows all the time - she was fantastic with cross-bows) and also used Shaman magic tools. Hammer and Meteorite. Had I not been so dim-witted the game would have been a cinch lol

Have just taken the plunge and bought Morrowmind and two extensions - couldn't find the third. Hope it is a good as Ingie recommended. Though when I will be able to play again is anyone's guess. Will have some idea in about two weeks from now.

I did notice Dungeon Siege in the passing but to date have not been able to find the story line - puzzled as to how a game concerning dungeons could have so many add-ons. Me being dim-witted again.

Good gaming everyone - will meet up with you all again one day.

Blessings for all your past help.

There are only two expansions with Morrowind Alice.
Tribunal and Bloodmoon.

I loved the game and it kept me going for months.
Not DD; but so much to it..you'll like it and you'll love how large everything is
Don't rush with it. In the first town spend a lot of time talking and walking about and poking your nose into things. Just remember to always save before poking your nose in or even reading a book..you could wind up in the pokey happydance

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/09/04 05:52 PM

Bless you Ingie - that puts my mind at rest.

The games will not ariive until somewhere around the 19th July. On that date it is doubtful if I will be able to see well enough to install the game, yet alone play it lol Last time I literally saw EVERYTHING in red for a whole fortnight!

Should I install the game and the two expansions at the same time - they don't, for instance, intermingle? lol I expect you realised I read Morrowind as Morrowmind! Didn't even notice it was different when I ordered it from Amazon.

Have a good mind to shelve Syberia 2 and Journey to the Centre of the Earth. The characters behave so stiffly and unnaturally. It becomes boring. The alternative is to follow to the letter a walkthrough for each just to know what happens. If you see what I mean?

It has crossed my mind to relax by playing D.D. again. Please, please, let D.D.2 arrive soon.

God Bless.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/09/04 10:47 PM

Morrowind remains my all time favorite! I played all expansions and I felt like I really lived there! I think you should stick on all expansions right away or at least the first one. It has some bug fixes and makes some improvements in the way the quest journal is organized.

My husband tried Dungeon Siege and didn't care for it. He said mostly all you do is fight and not much story. So my ten year old boys played it and they liked it. Don't know if that helps.

I think I will go sell some skills back because I'm at a tough spot at the levers and pentagram area and I can't beat these level 9 guys. I think I spent my skills on the wrong thing. It's either that or start over.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/10/04 03:27 PM

Alice,
I agree, load all at one time. The reason is that each expansion has the patches and therefore you don't have to download anything.
You will have references made to the different locations and actually can travel there anytime you want, but they are harder and your character needs to be developed to rather high levels or you will be killed, but fun to go to just to see.
Morrowind is an extremely large game and will keep you busy for a long time.
I highly recommend ordering the Strategy Guide for Morrowind..it really comes in handy as the game is so huge and diverse. I think you can pick it up at Amazon for a good price..I used it and used it and used it.
In my prayers for the eye operation.

I'm still plugging away here in Act 4. On the first level of the Academy there is a door that can only be opened with a star shaped key, but I haven't been able to get through to the area on the map that has the pool and amulet. Is this vital to the game? I've been able to find a way down, but don't want to go if it will screw something up.

I thought I had passed all the tests, but they said I didn't and there is no way to take them over. Should I just keep on going?

I just started! I'm still in Act 1. I bet it you'll be passing me before you know it!
I can barely remember DD but I think you're right. There is more dungeon fighting than then the other. However, like I said, I just started so I don't know what is to come.

Question- I found a crystal bag and I have some crystals but I can't put them in the bag. Are my crystals not the right ones? They don't say that they have any powers, they just say "dark crystal", "air crystal", ect.
Posted By: JMK

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/13/04 12:25 AM

Hi Tamia:

This is what you do to add crystals to the bag. Click your inventory open and move the screen to the right. This is so you can see the bag once it's opened. Click once on the crystal bag and it will show up next to your screen with the slots to be filled. Then, drag the crystals you want to use to the slots.

Crystals can be taken out of the bag and exchanged with other crystals. You'll find quite a few crystals throughout the game that you can swap depending on which resistance you need at that time.

Charms, on the other hand, can't be taken out. You'll find charms in various places and with various merchants. They are to be used in weappons, equipment, etc.

Thanks, you know what I was doing wrong? I had the bag window open on top of the inventory window so whenever I tried to click on a crystal to drag it in the bag, the bag disappeared! Finally, I realized that the bag window must be on a part of the screen NEXT to the inventory. laugh

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/13/04 08:06 PM

Jean, to get to the star key, you have to go to the room that has the wharp - can't think of right name- where there is a dead body. The same place where you tested. You need to pick up the pickax and hit the wall with it (that part of the wall will highlight). The key is in there. At least that is what I think you are looking for. I think Ingie is talking about a key that you get later.
As far as taking the tests over, I don't know if it affects you or not - I failed the first time through, and went back to a save, just to be on the safe side.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/13/04 08:41 PM

i am having a problem controlling the 2 characters in battle. i am okay if there is one or 2 enemies but if there are more than that i get slaughtered. for example, the room where there are 4 or 5 guards/rangers i could not beat them at all on the action setting no matter what i did. i got killed instantly. i went in there and quickly ran out hoping ot separate them but after a dozen tries that never happened and the group demolished me. so i had no choice but to switch to easy and then it was a snap to kill them in a group.

so how does one handle group attacks. i don't like the idea of having to switch difficulty but if i have to i will but i am not going to do every group battle a dozen tries like i did this battle.

there shouldn't be that big a difference in the difficulty settings. it seems to be very unbalanced.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/13/04 11:03 PM

Tamia, I'm glad you were able to figure it out. Some things are just not very intuitive, so holler out if you need any help.

Thanks for the tips, Ingie & Nickie. Nickie, I remember picking up a pickax and will have to check it out this evening.

Zanthia, not all the combat will be the same. There are difficult parts where you have 4 or 5 attacking you, but for the most part you get only 1 or 2 at a time. I remember having problems in the first act, and now in the dungeons in the 4th act, but not much in between. I think I have my settings on action.

It's difficult at first to get used to using 2 characters. Remember to hit F4 to select both at one time. If you want your hero to act first and he/she is F1, first do F1 and then F4. If you want the DK to go first and he is F2, selects F2 and then F4.

Sometimes when things really got going I'd look at the screen and one of them would not be highlighted, and would be standing still getting crunched. oops I'd have to remember then to highlight them.

You kind of have to experiment around with selecting them and actions. I found that my hero has to be selected first as leader if I want to do special spells. Don't know why. But you'll get the hang of it.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/14/04 12:16 AM

I kept DK in front almost at all time. I had a bow and would stick behind...seemed to work for me.
At first though I seemed to have problems before realizing all I had to do really was click on one bad guy at a time, work on that one, move onto the next.
Zanthia, wave
I always kept my potions down in big battles, remembering to shift over to the right person took some training on my part-forgetful you know. One of the things I like about BD is; as in DD, you can pause and drink and then get back into action..not getting killed in the process is nice.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/14/04 04:23 PM

Hi Zanthia - my characters were similar to Ingies and I worked the same way BUT if you click on a baddie near the hero or DK check if that character is still highlighted - took me ages to realise the baddie was so near I was also turning off my second character. The times I tried to use the Shaman Hammer to discover it wasn't working because Karen was no longer active.

The type of thing I would do lol

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/14/04 08:49 PM

both my characters are melee based. i plan on turning my character into a battlemage. already she has 3 points in a missile spell. and if needed the DK will use a bow. by mistake i put the magic missile into him. now i need money to get rid of it. it seems to get rid of skill points it gets more expensive each level you go up and money is hard to come by at this point in time. so for now it is staying but as a spell it seems to be pretty useless for him.

i always make sure to click on the SELECT ALL in the upper right so doesn't that mean both character should be attacking. and then i use the space bar to have each character do his/her thing.

question about the trading screen. it seems to include equipped items. is there any order to the listing or any way to tell which items are equipeed so you don't accidentally sell them. i have already sold some equipped tihngs but they were just basic shoes and gloves and i had duplicates so it wasn't too bad.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/15/04 08:53 PM

can someone explain how sharpening works. i read over at larian that it is highly recommended that you max this on your weapons ASAP. well since i have found no magical weapons and the best i have is a basic 2 handed sword which does puny damage , my level 8 character is not doing all that great. so i but sharpen at the battlefield and put all 6 points in it. i sharpen the weapon and now the weapon while still equipped no longer shows up on the field. all i see is a shield but there should be no shield with a 2 handed weapon. what gives. is this a bug. so i ended up restoring to an older save.
Posted By: Kayc

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/16/04 10:35 AM

Zanthia, when you sharpen a weapon, you need more agility points to use it. I think it goes up about 5 points after you sharpen the weapon.
I would always save before I sharpen the weapon to make sure I had enough points in agility to use it. smile

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/16/04 02:38 PM

I was wondering what the difference between sharpen and repair was! It is so hard to figure out what to spend those points on. I still haven't sold those lock pick points. I have 6 and can open NOTHING! I even put it up to 10 and tried opening somethings just to see. Still couldn't open it. I just need to figure out what to buy instead. My DK uses crushing and I use slashing. We both use arrows a little bit to shoot from afar.
In a battle I leave the potions choice open and I watch the life line. I keep feeding potions to them as they need it. In that way I've been able to beat guys more powerful than me.
Posted By: Kayc

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/16/04 03:32 PM

Tamia, When you sharpen the weapon, it does more damage to the bad guys. I put all the points I could into this skill.
I always let the merchants at the battlefields repair my weapons and armor so I could use the points for something else.
Had to put 2 points in repair once because the weapon I was using wouldn't show up in inventory to be repaired.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/16/04 06:40 PM

I've never used the sharpen skill. In retrospect, it would be useful. For my DK I put most of his skill points in two handed slashing, death blow, etc.

I'm still moseying around the pipes in Act IV. I should have been finished by now, but haven't been able to put much playing time in this week. Hopefully I'll have time this weekend.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/17/04 02:31 AM

Maybe I'll move those lockpicking points to sharpen points and keep my other repair skills. I do like to be able to repair while in the middle of the dungeon. It is also hard to decide do I want to give points to two handed or one handed? It depends what weapon I come across that I like. And then once I decide that, do I go for damage or accuracy or something else?
Posted By: JMK

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/17/04 04:11 AM

Hi Tamia:

I don't really know what the best way to distribute the points is, but what I do is go for the two-handed, and each time I get a skill point award it to one of the sections in the two-handed skill, like damage, critical hits, etc. I've pretty much awarded the points evenly that way. That's not to say it's the best -- it's just the way I do it.

Maybe some of the rpg combat veterans can tell you more. I'm always a mage first, warrior second. laugh

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/17/04 05:54 PM

Zanthia - about sharpening weapons. If you only have the one sword for DK be careful. The first time I sharpened a sword discovered DK wasn't allowed to use it afterwards - he needed more strength because it was a more deadly weapon. That is what happened when you discovered your character no longer had a weapon - only a shield. The weapon should be found in his inventory ready to use later in the game.

This was so frustrating I stopped sharpening tools, bought back the skills and just put them into increasing accuracy etc..

Hope that helps.

ALice, for me i have since seen that the agility requirement rather than the strength goes up when the weapon gets sharpened. so now before sharpening a new weapon i save first and slowly sharpen to make sure i have the agility to handle it. this sharpens skill is great. i wish i had started using it earlier. what a differencce it has made.

I've finally finished Dungeon 3 in Act IV. I must be the slooowwest person around, even though I'm playing at least an hour a day during the week and two to three a day on weekends. rotfl

Anyway, has any one figured out what the permanent stones are? I found them in one of the Academy levels, but don't remember which. I tried using them like charms, but they didn't work. I'm assuming they do something, or are they a quest item? think I jump from the Academy to the Pipes to the Dungeons, so don't always remember what I'm doing.

Oh, and the Holy Water. What do I do with that? I know I can make potions with it, but what is the difference between those and the herbal potions?

I finally got rid of the Remove Curse spell once and for all. It kept crashing me to the desktop. The Black Cleric Mage was able to use it with no problem, but I sure couldn't. Sold it and bought points in Paralyze and Ether Rain, and one point for my Ranaar Skeleton summoning doll. Yes, I finally found him. He's sure good at carrying equipment around for me. laugh He's a pretty good fighter, too.

One more question -- the jewels for the imps eyes statue. I read the earlier threads here which said to use a red and yellow jewel, but when I put them on the ledge in front of the statue nothing happens. How do I work the darn thing?

The holy water with a potion give you permanent raise in statistics.
Sorry, can't remember any permanent stones.

Hey, I just started act 2 too! I'm at level 16 I think. I'm currently exploring the new battlefield.

act 2 battlefields--are they the same layout as act 1 meaning 2 large levels and one small level. i just did one and there was only one level. went over it again to double check to see if i missed it and there is no portal to a second level.is this normal or is this a bug?

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/22/04 02:23 AM

Zanthia - I don't remember any Battlefield dungeons with only one level. As far as I can remember they all have the two large/one small configuration.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/22/04 01:33 PM

Hi Jean,

Yes, I did think my DK developed a kind of sense of humour - but wait until the last scene, it might change your mind laugh

How are you doing?

Thinking back on it have decided that, despite the bugs, I enjoyed BD. Certainly enjoyed meeting the folk on the thread.

My delivery of Morrowind has been delayed for a month so might give BD. another whirl. Have loaded Neverwinter Night plus 1st expansion and found the manual is on the disc but can't print it out without Adobe Active which I lost when the computer crashed. The Readme mentions something being explained on page 147 of the manual - so it will be a large printout.

There are walkthroughs on their website but only one or two small parts are downloadable - guess players are expected to pop in and out of the site when they want to query anything. That makes life awkward. rolleyes

I have now done two dungeons in the Act 2 battlefield and they had same amount of levels. You must have missed the enterance. One of them was partially hidden behind a wall, so maybe that was the one you missed. I'm now in a level four dungeon. Somehow I found the key for it before level 3. I'm also busy running errands for imps.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/22/04 08:35 PM

i did miss it- and it was so close to the entrance to. at least this one had a boss at the end. the first battlefield had no boss at the end.

tamia, you are way ahead of me now. still haven't done battlefield 3 but do have the key.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/23/04 03:04 AM

Where did you find key #3? I just found 5 and still haven't found 3. There is one more area I haven't checked yet, but on my way there through the imp village a cut scene took place and the game froze. I tried it twice and it happened both times. frown

What good are crystals? I have this little bag full of them but can't tell what good they are. Maybe because I'm not a wizard?

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/23/04 03:27 AM

bummer about the game freezing in the same spot. have you tried lowering the resolution?

have you gotten the telporter stones yet? they are in the same area.
Posted By: Zanthia

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/23/04 03:30 AM

the crystals are for anyone. they are for elemental resistance like fire, water, spiritual, etc. keep a bunch around and you can interchange them. either character can have the bag.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/23/04 04:44 PM

Hi Alice:

I'm at the third level of the Academy now, and am at the first labrynth test. I've found a battlefield key so have gone back to BF 4 to do a bit of fighting. I sure miss the teleporter stones. I sure wish you and Ingie were still playing! lol

Tamia, a higher level battlefield key will let you into all the lower numbered ones in that act. So, if you've found #5 it will let you into 1-5. So don't worry about finding #3.

Oh how missed my stones Jean, I understand that trek back each time is awful.

Hope you're enjoying the game as much as I did.

Hi again. Ingie, aren't they doing well? Tempted to start over again while I wait for t'other game.

Not really enjoying NWN. Actually am not really getting much time to play this week.

Feel for you Zanthia about the level 3 areas not having baddies. In the last two acts most level 3's were empty for me - such a let down to walk in well loaded with potions and carrying good weapons and armour - then finding nothing! And, of course, no levelling up after all that effort.

Shall I reload it, sha'n't reload it? What's the betting that the moment I get into it again Morrowind will arrive?

Good gaming.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/25/04 01:09 PM

Jean - I used the polymorph in D.D. and had great fun but shied away from it in B.D. Can't think why!

If I remember correctly I was either level 33 or 34 before the end scene. Had no problem with that.

Tamia - you can be sure I will drop everything and start Morrowind as soon as it arrives. To date the only RPG's I have played have been D.D/Sacred/B.D. - unless Mystery of the Druids counted as an RPG. Can I relate Morrowind to any of those or is it something different again?

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/25/04 04:34 PM

Well, it is and it isn't. You have quests and spend points and develop your character but it is so much more open ended. There are dozens of different groups you can join and do quests for. There are only a couple that you can't be a member of at the same time. So I think it goes beyond any other RPG.

I'm still in Act 2. I'm at level 20 now. However, I'm leaving on Monday for a vacation in Oregon for a week so I'm sure Zanthia will be way ahead of me by the time I get back. laugh

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/26/04 01:59 AM

rotfl I remember that Jean!!! Too funny. I didn't use the spell much in DD, and not at all in BD - no particular reason, just enjoyed the visual effects of others more.
I ended the game at level 32 or 33, can't remember, but I didn't do a lot of the BFs. Sounds like you're just about through!
For anyone who didn't buy the fanpack from Digital Jesters - the music is outstanding!!! Mostly stuff from DD, I think.

Threads, I think the difference in Morrowind is that you could be playing it the rest of your life. laugh The graphics are so stunning, and the choices are so many that sometimes it is a bit daunting, but I will bet that you have a great time ahead of you!

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/26/04 08:05 AM

Tamia, have a great time in Oregon. you are ahead of me now but surely i will be ahead of you by the time you get back. currently just turned level 19. maybe even get to starting act 3.

alice, morrowind is very different from DD and sacred. it is similar only in the sense that they are all single player games so you will be used to the way the game handles combat. combat in morrowind will be the easiest of them all. you get so strong so quickly in the game. one thing you haven't seen is the character creation options like you will see in morrowind. if you like magic you cna also make your own spells-- as strong or as weak as you want along with your own magical items.
there is so much to do in this game. you can literally play for a ton of hours and not even touch the main quest. it is a great game. you can download mods to improve the game in so many different ways. a few are official but thousands are fan made.

Well, I plugged back into BD since I couldn't progress with it before due to the age of my old
'puter, but I'm back again to the Imp Village.
I wish I could get Morrowind to work on the new
machine. I just knew this new one would make it work without a problem. Everything is new and up to date so why am I having this trial by fire?

HEEELLLPPPP! I sure hope some of you are still reading this thread.

I'm at level 4 in the Academy and have been told to open a rift. I have the book of coordinates and the wand. How in the world do I use them to open a rift? duh

Jean

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/30/04 10:53 AM

Hi Jean,
Just click on the wand while it is in inventory.
A box will come up, saying you can now open the rift to Rivellon. Click on (command the wand to open a rift to Rivellon).

I think the Academy sure was a confusing place, but it doesn't take much to confuse me. lol

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/30/04 01:57 PM

Jean, I went back and replayed this part to see exactly what I did.
Have you opened the first rift yet? When the instructor tells you to open the first rift, click on the wand to open it. Close inventory and then click on the rift to go through. Go back and talk to the instructor again and he will tell you to close the rift. Go back and click on the rift to close it.

After you close it, talk to the instructor again and he will tell you the Rannaar Elder wants to see you. Go to the bottom room and the Raanaar Elder is on the floor, click on him and he will write the new coordinates for Revellon in your book.
DK says you can open a rift and go there now.
Hope this helps!

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 07/30/04 04:37 PM

Thanks, Ingie and Kay. wave I'll give it a try tonight when I get home. Maybe I didn't click on the wand right. I did try to move it into my sword slot, but it wouldn't stay there. Maybe clicking on it does the trick.

Am I supposed to do anything with the teleporters in the area before going through the rift? I don't see any way to get in to them.

Finished! What a strange ending! What a great game. <img border="0" alt="bravo" title="" src="graemlins/bravo.gif " /> The ending left an opening for a sequel. I sure hope they go about doing one. I don't want to say anymore here to ruin it for others still playing.

I enjoyed every minute. Except for the academy and one or two spots, most of the game was pretty easy to figure out. I'm going to be walking around in a daze for a few days. It's always hard to leave a game.

Well, the monsters in the burned forest won't fight me anymore and the alchemist won't talk to me. Does anyone know what the problem is?
Posted By: Tamia

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 08/03/04 04:06 AM

Hmm... That never happened to me. Are the monsters red but won't fight? Is it all of them or just one stuck behind something? Do other people talk to you? I did notice a few bugs in the game but nothing that bad. Try getting everything the alchemist wants and see if that makes him talk. Also have you tried reloading your game and going back to an earlier save?

I had one of my people get stuck on the wrong side of dungeon walls before but was able to solve it by having the "free" person go to a different level where they would both appear.

Re: #2 Beyond Divinity Who Wants to Play - SPOILER ALERT - 08/03/04 12:43 PM

The monsters have the red circle and I have met all the requirements for the alchemist at this point. No one is stuck anywhere and I have the latest patch on the game.
