Cinnamon Crunch Cousin of Name the Game - 01/09/11 03:23 PM

We've reached 20 pages on the previous Name the Game thread, and so I'm starting another one. If anyone would like to view the previous Name the Game thread, you'll find Page 1 of the thread here.

For those who are joining us for the first time for Name the Game, this is the procedure:

One person (hereinafter known as "It") posts a clue to an adventure game. The clue can be simple or difficult or straightforward or creative. Clues can be information about characters or events or puzzles or more (though we do try to stay away from outright puzzle spoilers).

Everyone who wishes to participate can post the name of the game that best matches the clue. If no one has guessed after a few attempts, "It" gives another clue. The person who guesses correctly then becomes "It" and posts a clue for a different game, and so on. If you've posted a guess, or if you are "It," check back every day to see if you've guessed right or if you need to identify the correct guesser, so the game continues smoothly!

(When thinking up clues, a good place to look for possible ideas is the GameBoomers collection of adventure walkthroughs -- plenty of inspiration there.)

Space Quest Fan currently is IT.

These are the clues so far:

Clue #1

Who am I? I am an American patent lawyer on vacation in Paris.
_________________________
Clue #2:

I am in a series of games and the first game is known by more than one title.
_________________________
Clue #3

In the first game after I leave Paris I visit Ireland, Spain, Syria, and Scotland.

Way to go Venus! One clue is all you need. bravo I loved Grim Fandango. Manny and Glottis made quite a team. I always hoped that they would do a GF sequel.
Posted By: venus

Re: French Father of Name the Game - 01/16/11 08:07 PM

Traveler, which of us was sprouted? If it was me, I must get my liquid nitrogen. grin

Space Quest, I practically have that game memorized. It is one of my six favorites. Yes, I actually have roughly six favorites because I'm crazy. lol There are a definite top two, though. wink Yes, I can understand wanting a sequel, although I thought Grim ended just perfectly as it was.

Okay, onto the clue. smile

Clue 1: Great, locked inside a museum! Some welcoming committee.
Posted By: Space Quest Fan

Re: French Father of Name the Game - 01/16/11 09:50 PM

Venus,

This is a total stab in the dark and it has been a long time since I played it but my guess is Indiana Jones: The Fate of Atlantis?

If Grim Fandango is one of them what are your other games in your top five? Which are your top two?
My top game is Gabriel Knight 2 The Beast Within followed by the Longest Journey, Monkey Island 2&3 and Discworld 1&2.
Posted By: traveler

Re: French Father of Name the Game - 01/17/11 12:37 AM

"Traveler, which of us was sprouted?"

Me, of course. <g> If I ever try to sneak Grim in again I'm going to put a notice up that you're not allowed to guess.

As for your clue, I am, at present, scratching my head.

Re: French Father of Name the Game - 01/17/11 12:53 AM

wild guess - shivers - rings some sort of bell...
Posted By: venus

Re: French Father of Name the Game - 01/17/11 04:20 AM

Space Quest, my other favorites are Culpa Innata (love that weird "utopian" world and the fact that it feels very immersive, as though you are living Phoenix's life), The Longest Journey and the Gabriel Knights. I tend to favor games where it feels as though I am immersed in the story and the charcter's life. Which is why Culpa and TLJ are my top two. And of course, the GKs and Grim all have excellent writing/plots/characters, which is why they are all fighting to be my favorite. grin

Traveler, okay, but then everyone will know what it is anyway. lol

Sorry, Space Quest and niteowl, neither is the right game so far.

Okay, clue 2: Why is this creature I just met so "friendly" with me? eek I'll just be over here. whistle

Re: French Father of Name the Game - 01/28/11 01:19 AM

American McGee's Alice released in 2000. It was on the adventure game shelf in EB Game stores - so - adventure game right? It does have puzzles, great graphics and a story which takes place long after Lewis Carol's Alice in Wonderland.

It was just the first thing I thought of when HandsFree mentioned rabbits.

Sorry for the confusion. Do I loose any Boomer points? frown

American McGee's Alice is one of my all time favorites, but it is definitly an action-adventure and therefore belongs on the DarkSide.

You did not lose Boomer points sureshot. lol
