Bracken Tor Delayed Till Early 2012 - 11/04/11 02:25 PM

Haarlem, The Netherlands - 4 November 2011-

Publisher Iceberg Interactive has announced a further delay to 'early Q1-2012' for its upcoming PC horror adventure Bracken Tor: The Time of Tooth and Claw, by British developer Shadow Tor Studios, known for the successful adventure game Barrow Hill.

An Iceberg Interactive spokesperson said about the delays in development: "The developer is and has been working hard on the game, which has become much bigger over the past year than originally intended. We are aware the Bracken Tor release date has been moved back several times now and we do regret missing the Halloween deadline, but Shadow Tor is a small indie developer working on a really big project and as such it can be difficult to actually tie things up."  He continued to say: "We're quite sure the developer will finish the project before Christmas 2011 but that will not give us time to release it this year. That being said we are still convinced Bracken Tor will be an adventure game classic. We know we're asking for a lot of patience, especially from customers who have pre-ordered. It has been a long wait, but we want to make that wait worthwhile instead of rushing an unfinished product out. Hence, we have now adapted the more generic Q1-2012 date which basically means 'when it's done', to avoid people focusing on a specific date and getting their hopes up."

About Bracken Tor

The Bloodmoon has risen. Something is stirring, something feral, ancient and terrible. It began many years ago, with the discovery of the livestock, ripped to shreds, torn apart and devoured. But the beast now has a taste for blood... human blood... There has been a murder - a vicious, brutal killing - out there on the mist shrouded moorland. A lone hiker has been discovered... mutilated and bloody. Our land was once the hunting ground for many vicious carnivores, but they have long since disappeared, hunted into extinction. Could those beasts somehow have returned, to seek revenge?

Solve the mystery of the Moorland beasts. As a bold journalist, looking for the next 'big story', how far would you go to grab the front page? Would you risk your life by spending a night on the mysterious moor, with only the
canvas of your tent as protection? If so, Bracken Tor awaits your arrival. The stony outcrop boasts several unnerving stories; from unexplainable glowing lights, to this latest horrifying incident. Are some places cursed?
Or, are they haunted by those who went before?

The past holds the key. Only through understanding the 'old ways' of the primitive people who once lived on these moors will you survive the night. You must decide what is worse... the beasts that lurk in the darkness, or the terrifying acts performed by our ancient ancestors.

Could be much worse than a date being put back !! I can cope with a "delay" lol

Thanks for the info, BrownEyedTigre, and I will continue to look forward to the game smile

Well I am going to come out and say I am grumpy about it.

It has been a very long time with missed deadline after missed deadline. An artist needs to know when to say when, stop tweaking, and just put a frame on it already!

Oh, I will wait. No doubt about it. And I am looking forward to it, no doubt about that either. But that doesn't mean I can't grumble about it over here in my corner.

My disappointment is with the publisher. I think they were aware that the game wouldn't be finished on time and they just didn't care enough to actually let us know before missing the release date. Posting this announcement one week after missing that deadline just proves that they don't care about the people who can't wait to buy Bracken Tor.

Btw: It's natural for people from the Netherlands to be grumpy. Tradition smile

By pushing this one back to 2012, I'm sure Matt's next game (Wychwood Hollow) won't come out in 2012 as he first indicated. We'll probably see that one in 2014(or later)unless he has more help.

I can't say I'm very surprised. It is good through that they aren't specifying any particular date--that way we won't be as disapointed.

Nah, probably 2013 I'm guessing. For one, I think much of the wait has been due to him ironing out stylistic and story choices, as well as figuring out the technical side of things--these are decisions he'll have to live with for the sequel, so we're less likely to wait so long.
And another thing, Boakes will likely be helping him out between Crown games, so yes he'll probably have some assistance. They've helped each other out a lot before.

Dave at Interact doesn't even show this game in the up coming releases anymore:(

Re: Bracken Tor Delayed Till Early 2012 - 11/26/11 08:13 PM

Dave does not like when release dates are not solid because he does not like disappointing those that pre order. It has nothing to do with the game not being done.

I've had it on pre order with Dave for over a year and noticed also that he no longer shows it. I sent him an email asking if that means my order is cancelled or what. Haven't heard back yet.

Re: Bracken Tor Delayed Till Early 2012 - 11/27/11 03:55 AM

If only whoever is responsible for Bracken Tor respected us enough to come forward and say SOMETHING I think most of us would go along and find a little more patience with the delay. I thought it was all Iceberg's fault until recently.

Re: Bracken Tor Delayed Till Early 2012 - 11/27/11 12:28 PM

Iceberg fault is not informing on time. Their website still mentions 28-10 as the releasedate. They would have known beforehand that the game wasn't finished.
