Are there any updates on Bracken Tor, or the Lost Crown sequel? Haven't heard anything, of late. Would also like to know if Gabriel Knight games have been re-issued?

Gillann -- I haven't seen any recent updates for Bracken Tor or The Lost Crown. For the Gabriel Knight games check out the downloadable versions at Gog.com.

Last I heard anything about Bracken Tor was a while backj when the publisher for Germany (Koch Media/Deep silver) told the developer that if the game was not ready i.e. translated into German etc. and all e.g. ready to be published in June 2012, he would have to look elsewhere for a publisher in Germany-speaking countries.

I know, we sometimes here moan and groan over publisher's demands to developers. Bu what have it been since the developer's last game, 5 og 6 years or so? for Bracken Tor, I mean.

You have to remember that there is a lot to do to make a game and that Matt is an indie developer without a big studio to support him. It is a whole nother ballgame when referring to games produced in a large company with a full staff.

I'll be here ready to play whenever the game is ready.

I'd be interested in Billy's comments on that. He might agree. On the other hand, I don't believe he announces his games far ahead of their being finished or leaves his loyal and devoted fans hanging for years.

Too bad I can't put a "Hey, WRF!" flag on this to attract his attention!

I expect it might depend on an indie developer's own circumstances (and finances, of course) how much "forecasting" each feels able to do.

Sometimes it appears that a game can have been ready for a long time but if the developer has done a deal with a publisher, the publisher dictates when it will be made available ??

Mad -- yes, sometimes that happens. There seems to be an effort currently to release in several languages simultaneously to cut down on piracy -- I don't know if this is the case with Bracken Tor, but it wouldn't surprise me. wave

I can't imagine why it would be the case. This game has been hanging for a long time and the publisher appears to have been more than ready to release it. By the time it is released, if ever, the piracy thing will be settled. Sales will be so bad that pirates may be the only ones that play it. Okay, an exaggeration but when people who might have played it, not rabid fans who'll buy it anyway, get annoyed enough at a developer, sales are likely to be a lot worse than if the game had come out anywhere near on time. IMO.

Just as a for instance, I gather that Grey Matter did not sell well at all, in spite of it being a Jane Jensen game and everyone having high expectations of it selling very well. Could be wrong, but people had to wait forever for that one.

Gil, just like any other business, you only hear what people want you to hear. There are lots of different issues that go into the publishing of a game and the publisher will tell you things that make them look good and the developer cannot disclose things publicly. Things are not always as they seem.

I've had it on pre-order from Dave for 15 months.
Don't think it will ever be released.

Iceberg still has it pegged for an October 2011 release. I fear it may never see the light of day. Haven't seen a bit of news on the game since forever.
