About Moebius
Malachi Rector, a prestigious antiquities expert with an uncanny knowledge of history, travels around the world evaluating antiques for auction houses and private collectors. He can tell at a glance whether a varnish is 14th century Venetian or a 21st century imitation, where a particular hinge was forged, and what tomb an Egyptian artifact came from.

The game begins when a mysterious government agency named F.I.S.T. offers Malachi an odd job: instead of evaluating an antique, he will travel to Venice to investigate the death of a politician's wife. Though this is far outside the scope of his usual work, Malachi is curious, so he agrees.

What Malachi doesn't know is that his photographic memory and genius for history is of extreme interest to not only F.I.S.T. and the U.S. government, but to other top-secret agencies as well. And Malachi's about to meet a man in his travels who holds the key to it all...

Jane plans to show the game to press for the first time at E3. It's early, but if you know you'll be there and want to meet, let me know!

Looking good!

Maybe I'm interpreting this trailer incorrectly, but it seems to be a "spy" game, no? Or maybe the music just made me think of James Bond.

I would say so based on the description.

Quote:
Jane Jensen’s latest adventure is overflowing with conspiracy, science, and spies!

The game tells the story of Malachi Rector is an antiquities dealer who hunts down artifacts all over the world. After his upscale Manhattan store is destroyed in a fire, he's hired by billionaire Amble Dexter to investigate a series of events and document them in his meticulous way.

I remember reading the second part of your quote above; I must have missed the part about "spies".

I'm probably the only one here, but that trailer did not make me want to run off and play the game. Since I donated to the fundraising effort I will be getting the game and will give it a try, though.

It's written right below the video.

I am sorry you did not care for the video, but I am sure there will be lots of gaming still to be shown that may appeal to you.

I think the spy thing was an interpretation by the people at GameTrailers who posted the video. The music does have a James Bond vibe and there is some international espionage involved, but I don't think Malachi's really a spy per se.

Here are some new story details that have just been released, and provide context for the trailer:

Quote:

He can tell at a glance whether a varnish is 14th century Venetian or a 21st century imitation, where a particular hinge was forged, and what tomb an Egyptian artifact came from.

The premise actually reminds me a bit of the first GK game... "ordinary guy" with a unique job gets involved in solving a mystery, and later learns that he plays a role in a much larger story...

(Full disclosure, I'm helping with the PR for this game.)

Thanks for the info, fov! As a backer, I was sent the alpha build and thought it was fantastic so far. Sure some tweaks are needed, but it looks really promising already. I'm really enjoying Malachi as a protagonist, and the premise has me hooked. thumbsup

Thanks very much for this heads up, Ana, about this interesting game. It has Jane Jensen written all over it, meaning qanother winner.

I am also playing the beta now, so far it is very good. I did not think Jane could beat Gray Matter, and I so wished it was Gray Matter 2 that we would be getting now. I see now the full potential of Moebius and I must say, this is Jane Jensen in full form. This might turn out better than Gabriel Knight. Very classy too, we needed this.

Re: Jane Jensen's Moebius Trailer and New Screenshots - 04/04/13 10:07 AM

I finished Chapter One and the available bit of Chapter Two yesterday--I think this is actually the Alpha build--and I'm hooked. Here is the interesting thing: I'm a die-hard GK fan, but Gray Matter bored me. However, I am in agreement with rmt about the potential of Moebius and share her anticipation.

Your post of 3-28-13, 5:42 p.m.,
refers to Jane Jensen's Moebius,
which she planned to show at E3's

their conference as yet?

Do you attend these?

Thanks, Ana!
