Does This Remind You of Scenes From An ADV Game - 05/01/13 06:16 PM

These are freaky pictures of rooms in an abandoned farm house. I think this place would be perfect for an adv game graphic setup.

You believe this???!!! Also scrool down and check out The Village At Traverse Gardens slideshow (more pics that would be perfect for an adv game.

You believe this??!!

Hi, Barry!

The pictures kind of remind me of the old farmhouse in "Phantasmagoria".

Those pics would be great for an adventure game but they don't look real. They look as if there 'were' made for an adventure game. A radio that old (I guess it's a radio) wouldn't be in a house that isn't falling apart if it was abandoned and look at the chair. Would leather keep that well?

All the same, you're right. They'd be perfect.

This reminded me of seeing something similar quite recently. In this case an artist used an old house to come up with a giant dolls house. http://digitaljournal.com/article/327700

The radio looks a lot like one my Grandfather had when I was a kid -- and kept as long as he lived -- it even has the whitish push-buttons. He connected it to an aerial on the roof and it could receive stations several states away. It was used when he bought it and he'd had it as long as anyone could remember. When something went wrong with it, he'd fix it. It's not impossible that the radio in the photograph was a working radio at the time the farmhouse was abandoned.

The farmhouse may not have been abandoned all that long ago -- maybe 20 or 30 years ago, when the owners expired or became too old to live alone. So leather could certainly last that long. We have a leather chair that's over 50 years old now. It has a few cracks along some of the fold lines, but the one in the picture might too and it wouldn't show. It looks like the room with the chair didn't have water damage like the bedroom so there's no particular reason why the leather wouldn't last if it was decent quality to start with.

Oh yummy! Now I want to travel to Europe and see these houses up close. They are just beautiful! And yes, btw, they'd make a GREAT setting for a game---I'd buy a game like that just to have the chance to sort of "be in" those rooms any way I could! wink

The story almost writes itself in those pictures.

According to the photographer, the pictures published by Huffington Post were "of 4 different farmhouses, all in western Europe."

And the photographer also has a book out, "Disciple of Decay."

There are more pictures from the same photographer in the gallery on his website and at

Some are the same as in the other article, but others are different.
Definitely worth a look.
