Quote:
Montreuil (France), August 23th, 2013. As the Gamescom - the most important annual video game exhibition - is taking place in Cologne, Microïds announces the development of the last episode of one of the most successful sagas of its catalogue, "Dracula 5: The Blood Legacy".

Called "The Blood Legacy", this episode concludes Ellen Cross’ journey that began in "Dracula 4: The Shadow of the Dragon". Players will lift the veil on the series of mysterious paintings that she has discovered during her investigation.

This new adventure game begins where the previous opus of Ellen Cross’ journey had stopped. The art restorer who has nothing left to lose will not give up without clearing up this mystery. Fans of the supernatural and changes will enjoy once again the very particular atmosphere of this story where you can feel the control of the Prince of Darkness.

"Dracula 5: The Blood Legacy" takes the players all around the world until the end of a journey of mysteries, original and varied puzzle games and encounters with characters whose motivations are ambiguous.

Franck Berrois, Product Manager for "Dracula 5: The Blood Legacy" says “we are delighted to be able to reveal the outcome of Ellen Cross’ investigation that began in "Dracula 4". Players eager for explanations will still have to wait a bit more but will soon get all the answers to the mysteries on hold”.

"Dracula 4: The Shadow of the Dragon" is an adventure game released in July 2013 under the Microïds label on PC and Mac. Mobile versions (iOS and Android) will soon be released.

"Dracula 5: The Blood Legacy" is in development on PC/Mac/iOS/Android. Release is due for the 4th quarter of 2013.

Happy Gaming!

Thanks, Ana. smile

Hoping that Drac 5 is an improvement on Drac 4, which I found terribly disappointing. frown

Thanks for the info, BrownEyedTigre smile

I didn't get Drac 4. I decided to wait until Drac 5 was out as well. So I would have a "complete" game.

Hopefully 4 and 5 between them will give me a complete game ?? whistle

I hate to be a "party pooper". but if Drac 5 will be anything like Drac 4, I intend to skip it. HOWEVER, I'm trying to keep an open mind, so I'll follow the news about the new game.

Re: Microïds Unveils Details about Dracula 5: The Blood Legacy - 08/23/13 09:47 PM

I didn't get Drac4 either when I saw that it was part 1.

I've noticed a few other games that are split into parts. Are these episodic games becoming the future of PC adventure games?

I knew that Syberia and a few others were split up and re-issued, I am assuming for mobile devices and tablets and accommodating smaller file sizes.

But is this all we have to look forward to in the future - having to buy PC adventure games in 2 or 3 parts - that is - those of us who don't play games on mobile devices and prefer to have them on a desktop or laptop computer?

I haven't read any articles on the subject and was just curious?? I was interested in this Drac game till I saw the two parts and assumed it was a marketing plan to gain more revenue by selling 2 smaller games instead of 1 large game.

It's really up to the developer LadyCav. Sometimes budgets do not allow for a full long adventure so they break it up into manageable smaller episodes.

Re: Microïds Unveils Details about Dracula 5: The Blood Legacy - 08/23/13 11:03 PM

Thank you very kindly, Ana, for taking the time to answer my question.

That gives me hope that not all games will necessarily become episodic in the future. I'll wait for reviews on this upcoming Drac5 to decide whether to purchase both games.

I'm glad to hear they're proceeding with releasing Dracula 5 and not just leaving those of us who played it dangling (like a few other companies).

Re: Microïds Unveils Details about Dracula 5: The Blood Legacy - 11/30/13 01:36 PM

I heard today that its release is imminent so hopefully it will be very soon. I believe it is a straight continuation from Dracula 4 rather than an episodic type game where different stories and characters are introduced.

There were a few disappointing features to Dracula 4 that I hope are improved on. I hope the length is much longer than Dracula 4, the characters are not like wooden statues and I hope the characters speak with some lip sync and facial expressions; all of these were lacking in Dracula 4.

THey may have meant to launch on the 29th and perhaps had the website ready, but according to Microids as of yesterday it's not quite ready for release.

Just bought the game and started playing it. Looks like a real nice game. Graphics are great and the movement with the mouse are smooth. One thing I don't know is how to save but i will keep on working on it. Thanks

Re: Microïds Unveils Details about Dracula 5: The Blood Legacy - 11/30/13 10:47 PM

Dracula 4 automatically saved at certain points in the game and also saved when you exited game. Dracula 5 probably does the same, I hope.

I just downloaded this part. I think I'll wait for a walkthrough. I'm stuck already. Don't know how to unwrap the picture.

Is there going to be a walkthrough for this game ?

I think I just
Click to reveal..
put it on the stand in the corner next to the large monitor and clicked the picture to unwrap it. I may have turned on the infrared light to scan it before unwrapping it. I may have talked to the guy at the desk again before unwrapping it.

Re: Microïds Unveils Details about Dracula 5: The Blood Legacy - 12/02/13 05:05 AM

Hi kjos,
Now that you are playing Drac 5, is it anything like Drac 4? I was very disappointed with Drac 4. I had expected an ADVENTURE game, and it turned out to be more like a HIDDEN OBJECT game. At least that is MY opinion. Am I right to feel that way?

Dracula 5 is a continuation of Dracula 4 and the gameplay is pretty much the same. If you didn't like Dracula 4, you probably won't like Dracula 5 either -- though you do get to see the real Dracula at the end.

Why did you think Dracula 4 was like a hidden object game? Because it was short? Because it was first person? It might be similar to a casual adventure (with better production values and higher system requirements), but without hidden object screens, it's not a hidden object game.

Re: Microïds Unveils Details about Dracula 5: The Blood Legacy - 12/03/13 09:54 PM

Well, Jenny, maybe the term "Hidden Object game" was a little overstated by me, but I think that "CASUAL game" may be what I meant. I guess I'm comparing Drac 4 to the previous Dracula games which were definitely really what I call ADVENTURE games.I see that Rushes wasn't too thrilled by Drac 4, either.

Re: Microïds Unveils Details about Dracula 5: The Blood Legacy - 12/03/13 10:16 PM

No, I thought it was dreadful, to be quite honest. There was virtually nothing in it for it to accurately label itself as a Dracula game. It was also far too short.

I shall be giving Drac 5 a shot, and crossing fingers it will be more enjoyable.

Re: Microïds Unveils Details about Dracula 5: The Blood Legacy - 12/03/13 11:10 PM

I watched part of the video walkthrough on YouTube and, frankly, this is a huge comedown for Microids, IMO.
It's hard to believe the same company developed Syberia.
The characters are about as natural as plastic mannequins and lip syncing simply doesn't exist.
Not to mention that they are not very well drawn.
I hope the puzzles and the story are worth it for those of you who play the game.

It's not the same company Gil. The name and IP's were purchased by Anuman. Sadly, the name is all that remains of the old Microids.

Oh, good grief, I suppose that it was seeing Microids plastered all over the game that made me forget about Anuman.
Anuman's name on a game is an automatic NO as far as I'm concerned.
Since they seem to feel the need to use Microid's name and trade on their reputation, I may not be the only one who feels that way.

Re: Microïds Unveils Details about Dracula 5: The Blood Legacy - 12/04/13 02:50 AM

So I saw Mag's walkthrough posted, and despite my complaining about Drac 4, I bought Drac 5 from Gamersgate for $15. Playing it now,(in ADVENTURE mode) and so far I'm actually enjoying it, RUSHES.
Maybe I played Drac 4 in CASUAL mode without realizing it. Happy Gaming, fellow BOOMERS, and OH YES, thanks Mag, for another MAGnificent WT.
