I pre-ordered the game in Amazon, it has a coupon for $10 to buy something sold and shipped by Amazon. These kind of coupons do not last for ever, normally until the last day of the month, since it comes out the 30th I hope it last until the end of October

. They are good for people who buy a lot there.

Have you used this coupon before? I have never paid attention to those boxes. What does the following mean (copied from the Amazon help section regarding coupons)?

"The coupon applies only to qualifying items displaying the coupon offer in your Coupon Book and on the item detail page."

Is the coupon only good for certain items (like only a few things)? What is the "Coupon Book" mentioned?

I will not pay $40 for the game but will go with $30 if I can use the coupon.

Google Amazon coupons. There are a lot of access to those coupons but I am not familiar with them to know if they are safe or if there are more stuff attached to them.

MaG, I don't think the stuff showing up on google is what this is. I read on Amazon's site about their coupons/promo codes but was hoping somebody who has used it can clarify it a little better.

The coupons are good for "everything sold and shipped by Amazon" not third parties. Most things Amazon sells fall in this category, the only "negative" thing I have found is that are good for a limited time only, in general until the last day of the month that they are issued. I buy a lot in Amazon then is not problem for me, it could be an issue for people who only buy there occasionally.

In this case I don't know until this coupon will be valid since the game is released the last day of the month.

The day the game is released Amazon sends you a coupon number that you can introduce as a discount at check out, sometimes it goes directly and applies to the next purchase. I used it many times with no issues.

Good oldbroad ! It would be wise to check the dates on it, I have never bought one game released the last day of the month. The computers may decide to put the coupon good until 30th of September as crazy as it may be

Edited 9/29, my game is already shipped and the coupon will be applied directly as credit to may account. Good until February.

Playing now and the graphics are out of the world. Just like your watching a movie. Don't know how the auto-saves work. Is it ok if I talk about the game?

Not much to talk about Rushes. I'm at the crime seen. Lot to do there. The auto-save seems to work good. How do I use spoiler brackets? Nothing to not to like about this game. In time I'm sure everybody playing the game will need some help.

To use spoiler brackets, click on the "Switch to Full Reply Screen" button, and then on the loudspeaker icon you see above the message panel. Type your spoiler text between the two sets of brackets that'll appear in the message panel.

Someone at Frogwares is a fan of Christopher Plummer.
Check out this video of the story Silver Blaze, and start at 3:00.
Their new rendition of Holmes looks too much like him for it to be a coincidence.

I agree, the game won't run in High setting with your current video card.

We are working on a patch to allow more flexibility with average comp configurations, I'll let you know.

The patch Wael spoke of is already here:

There is a beta branch on Steam
(I know very few of you are huge fans of the platform).

This beta branch should allow you to play the game, however, we don’t guarantee performances or absence of crashes as the wide range of hardware covered in this patch cannot allow a perfect optimization for low end or hybrid video adapters.

We will monitor in the next days tech support and steam support to finalize the patch and launch it on the main branch of the game.

To play the beta version please follow the instruction

1. Select Crimes and Punishments in your game library on Steam
2. Select properties
3. Select the Beta tab
4. In the “select the beta you opt into” choose Public_Beta

The configurations covered for this patch are below, players with other configurations having no problem launching the game don’t need to opt into the beta branch.

• Intel Graphics Adapters (all)
o The game now may be launched on any Intel integrated adapter (HD and higher were tested)
o Any Intel integrated adapter (if it's the only one in the system) will force the game to run in DX9 mode and auto detect Low graphics settings

• NVIDIA Optimus
o The game now may be launched on NVIDIA Optimus systems
o The game will correctly auto detect graphics settings and DX version depending on the model of high performance graphics adapter installed in the system

• AMD Switchable Graphics
o The game now may be launched on AMD Switchable Graphics systems

• Windows XP
o The game now may be launched on Windows XP

I agree, both online activation and Steam are DRM. I think I will wait to purchase it at a discount later, and I'll just do it through Steam as it's going to insist on connecting anyway. Maybe by then, I'll have upgrading my graphics card once more.

Thanks for the patch, though. If I still haven't upgraded my card by the time I do buy the game, I'll go ahead and try it out.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. I just wanted to give an update on my situation. Since I got a belated Amazon gift card for Christmas, I decided to go ahead and purchase Crimes and Punishments along with some other things, just to see if it would work. So far, everything runs smoothly for me, even at the highest settings. So I guess my current video card is enough for it after all. Very happy I can play this game now!
