KQ8: Mask of Eternity was an action/adventure -- not a terribly good one IMO, and certainly not in the spirit of the previous KQ games (it was too "gritty" and lacked the "fairy tale/fantasy" appeal of the earlier games).
This game looks like a platformer, which would make it similar to other games the developer (The Odd Gentlemen) has made. At least it retains the "fairy tale" look of the original games, which KQ8 did not.
I think the only actual adventure games we'll get for the KQ series will be those made by fans of the original series (like
***AGD*** and
***Infamous Adventures***, and not commercial releases.
I keep reading things like "this is how we would have made the game if technology had allowed it." But if that's true (and I'm not convinced that it is), technological limitations forced the developers to produce a better product despite themselves.
