Review of Nancy Drew: Sea of Darkness - 06/04/15 09:26 PM

Nancy Drew journeys to Iceland
In the wintertime
When it's dark all day
To solve a missing persons case.

She explores a tall ship from the 1780's
Identifies all the different sails
And finds secret compartments
While searching for treasure

Quite a lot of brainteaser-type puzzles in this one

The last Nancy Drew game with Lani Minella as Nancy

I thought your comments about Nancy's desk were much to the point. It's nice to see it again, but it also serves to remind me how it's been "diminished" from earlier games, so it being there is kind of a mixed bag.

Just read Jenny's review, and guess what? I'm inspired to revisit Nancy's world.

As many of you know, I wrote walkthroughs for several of the Nancy Drew games back when they were first released, but reached a point where I felt burned out with so much sameness with her games. There was quite a stretch where I just didn't bother to look at the ND series, but this great review has turned my head. I will give the game a try.

Jenny - I was going to say that my favorite line in your review was ". . . in my opinion no good can ever come of a maze (though I've heard some people like them)." Anybody who has heard me rant about mazes is not surprised that I agree.

But - When you said ". . . and eschewed the food?" I laughed right out loud. That's just plain brilliant.

I guess I am also touched by the Icelandic scene; a good friend was scheduled to go there with his college-age grandson during winter break, and their trip was canceled because all the flights out of New York were stopped by the ferocious weather in February. Now all of a sudden he's battling esophageal cancer. Ugh.

Anyway wish me luck dealing with Nancy and her brain teasers. I'm looking forward to something different. smile
