Duke Grabowski Mighty etc.

Duke Grabowski Mighty etc. - 12/01/16 09:31 PM

Is "Steam" the only "Place" where I can purchase this game? I would rather get the disc than download. I'm not a big fan of "Steam" anyway.

Thanks

I believe that's the only place for now. I have been reading that a DRM-free version is supposed to be available by the end of this year, but have no knowledge beyond that. wave12

Thanks Marian. Does it download and play well on windows 10?

I'm sure it does Gordon since it was just released. Check out flotsams review here.

It's available for download at Humble Bundle as well as Steam. They offer DRM-free version, as well as a Steam code version.

Disc-based games are getting pretty rare, especially for smaller and indie titles like Duke. Best you can hope for in most cases is downloadable.

Just played this great little game. Short (about 3hours max) but for only £1.59 what the heck!!! Does anyone know if this company will be making any more games?

I'd always thought this was intended to be the first in a series of games? Will try to find out a bit more.

The company is not functional now and the CEO is currently looking for work elsewhere. Who knows what will happen in the future but it isn't happening at the moment.

That seems a shame sad

I haven't played "Duke" yet but have it downloaded ready ....

That is a shame. No one seems to make this sort of game now. Even the Book of Unwritten Tales series seems to be in jeopardy now after their last game didn't reach it's funding target. And there were a lot of loose ends to tie up there.

Even when some old favourites get a sequel the devs seem to try and change the gameplay (Syberia 3 and Silence to name but 2) presumably to try and reach a wider audience. This clearly fails. People who like quick time action or anything requiring dexterity will not be drawn to an adventure game and the old die-hard adventurers don't want frustrating QTEs which need to be beaten before progressing with the game.

Ah well. Guess I'll just have to sit back and hope someone somewhere will come up with something! I wouldn't even mind playing some old games remastered. There are plenty out there that deserve it like the Discworld or Simon the Sorcerer games.

I daresay I shall end up like Miss Havisham; sitting in a corner covered in cobwebs still waiting!!!

Well if it's any comfort we're planning to make several Captain Disaster game all in classic point and click style (though we won't be doing direct sequels as such, just different games set in the same game universe). There will definitely be no QTE as I can't stand them! wink

It's a shame TellTale won't be doing any more Monkey Island or Sam & Max games. Not sure whether Dave Gilbert is planning on making another actual series of games now that Blackwell is finished. Will be interested to see what Theo and the Skygoblin gang do now that The Journey Down is finished.

Dang, only $1.99! I got this and Samorost 2 (which was on sale)

Well, between that, Indiegala, Vudu, and a Karaoke software purchase this month I am now spending money broke. The other negative is that I rack up a LOT of games but, never make time to play them. The list grows...
