Keeping Track of Games in a Collection

Keeping Track of Games in a Collection - 03/12/17 07:25 PM

I am astonished at how well some people keep an account of the games they own. Spreadsheets and the like !! praise

Who knew ?? hamster

I myself, however, have a "LIST".
In loosely alphabetical order and with Adventures, Casuals and RPG's all bunged on it together shocked

And I'm pretty sure a reconciliation is due .. to see if what's on my shelves and what's in my downloaded games folder (and what's anywhere else I might have stuff) agrees with what's on THE LIST !!!! lol

All of my games (adventure, casual, etc.) are all on the same (spreadsheet) list also Mad. Sometimes I think about separating them out but...

My list isn't as sophisticated as a spreadsheet, oldbroad, it's just a list of game titles redface

I do include how many versions of a game I have - next to its title - and whether or not any of them are DRM free. But that's about it yes

I always relied on my memory. Many years ago I did buy the same game twice - but that only happened once, so apparently it was a pretty good method. laugh

I might not duplicate a game buy but there are other reasons for keeping the list. (Mad, even though it is in excel it is still just a list.) I used to keep book lists also because those I did duplicate buy too often but somewhere along the way that got neglected unfortunately. I still try to keep track of the latest book in the series that I have but it is not as good as the full list was.

I kept a spreadsheet, though my Windows 7 word processor can't print it. It is on my XP emulator. The best I can do is take screenshots. I can add to it to update it, though nowadays the games I buy are downloads. I have all sorts of details, like who I bought the game from (most of my games were 2nd hand), original cost, traded items and condition.

I have a number of spreadsheets, with descriptions of all the contents and the value
Important for insurance if nothing else!

I'm content with storing the digitally downloaded games neatly organized in folders on my two (identical) external hard drives, and the boxed games in alphabetical order on my book shelves.

BTW, having two identical hard drives is very good for backup purposes.
