Crowdfunded Thimbleweed Park Murder Investigation to be Closed Unsolved. Sheriff tells amateur investigators to leave town: "There's nothing-a-reno to see here."

Check out the Screens here.

Quote:
THIMBLEWEED PARK - March 30, 1987 - The Thimbleweed Park Sheriff has formally closed the ongoing investigation into the dead body under the bridge citing lack of evidence, dwindling interest, and a desire to get home by 8:00pm to watch wrestling.

The murder victim is believed to be a European visitor with no ties to the local community. The unsolved murder is the latest in a series of suspicious events that include the sudden death of town founder Chuck Edmund and the mysterious disappearance of his brother, Franklin.

In the course of the investigation, the Thimbleweed Park Sheriff's Department raised suspicions about two uninvited federal agents, disgraced entertainer Ransome the Clown, and pillow factory heiress Delores Edmund. Though their involvement has not been definitively ruled out, the Sheriff today insisted he sees no reason to waste further resources on a "dead-end-a-reno case."

"Dead body? What dead body?" the Sheriff blurted when pressed for comment, conspicuously looking over his shoulder.

Game developers Ron Gilbert, Gary Winnick, and David Fox, who have been camping out in Thimbleweed Park since the body was found, are questioning the Sheriff's motives. "This town is hiding a secret, a big one. When we came close to uncovering it, that's when the locals stopped cooperating," Fox said from the show floor at ThimbleCon '87, which is taking place this weekend at the Edmund Hotel.

"We thought raising funds on Kickstarter and embedding ourselves in Thimbleweed Park would give us answers. But two years later, we're only left with more questions," added Winnick. "Why are the signals so strong out here? How come the phone book has 3,000 names in a town with only 80 people? None of these nutjobs even care about the dead body!"

With officials stonewalling the murder investigation and the crowdfunded project drawing to a close, the developers of the Thimbleweed Park video game are now appealing to more than 18,000 backers, as well as countless others who are intrigued by the strange happenings in Thimbleweed Park, to take over.

"Gary, David, and I have spent two years of our *beeping* lives trying to get to the bottom of this," said Ron 'Grumpy Gamer' Gilbert. "You want to know what's going on with the dead body? You want the truth about Thimbleweed Park? Then get down here and start pointing and clicking. This game isn't going to play itself."

To participate in the Thimbleweed Park murder investigation, visit Steam, GOG, Xbox One, or the Mac App Store today. More details can be found at http://www.thimbleweedpark.com.

Thanks Ana. The screen shots remind me of Zak McKracken/Maniac Mansion/Day of the Tentacle.

Hi Donald, I merged your post with our previous Thimbleweed Park thread.

This game is getting excellent reviews so far - one review I read said that after spending 20 hours playing it to completion, it immediately shot up to his top 3 adventure games of all time!

Hi Marian, This game looks good to me also, but without a good text walkthrough to refer to, I'm afraid that I won't be able to play it. I've searched for one, but all I found was one You-Tube WT. I hope that one will be made available soon. GOG has this game for sale now.

Sandy, I think it's likely that there will be one or more written walkthroughs for the game pretty soon. I'll keep an eye out. wave

Thanks, Marian, I sure hope so, and by the way, i'm struggling with playing "Tales" as well. I found a You-Tube wt for that one, but I hate having to go back and forth between the game and the video wt at each step of the way.

Re: Thimbleweed Park now available for Xbox One, Windows, Mac, and Linux - 04/06/17 03:21 AM

Thanks, Marian,
I found that one earlier today (Gamepressure.com). and this wt covers the "difficult" mode of the game. A few days ago I found a text walkthrough from a different site, so I purchased the game from GOG,started playing it using the "casual" mode. I had printed it out, so I'm following it step by step. Actually looking at the Gamepressure wt, I think I will start this game over and choose the "difficult" mode because it looks a little more challenging, and a lot more fun.
BTW, the original text wt that I mentioned is no longer listed on Google for whatever reason.

Sounds good, Sandy. It does seem that you miss out on quite a bit of puzzling if you choose the casual mode. Have fun with the game. smile

Re: Thimbleweed Park now available for Xbox One, Windows, Mac, and Linux - 04/12/17 09:31 PM

Marian,
I finally finished this game playing in HARD mode. The various walkthroughs helped a lot, even though some of the info in them was not accurate, so I had to figure it out by myself when reaching a dead end.
GOG has updated this game about four times now, so maybe all of the "bugs", and there were a few, are now gone. I enjoyed it very much, especially the final credits at the end. thanks so much for your input---- and---Happy Gaming!

Glad you enjoyed the game, Sandy. thumbsup

Congratulations on playing and finishing the game in hard mode. That way, you saw most if not all of what the game has to offer, which is a good thing. smile

Re: Thimbleweed Park now available for Xbox One, Windows, Mac, and Linux - 04/14/17 12:45 AM

Thanks Marian, Jenny, and Mad,
I really DID enjoy this game (once got the hang of it), and I'm replaying it right now, but this time I'm relying on just one walkthrough instead of two, which I did the first time around. Mad, with the latest update from GOG, the patch is already incorporated into the newest version, so installing the patch is not necessary. After playing the first time, I deleted the game as well as the save files, downloaded and installed the newest version. when I deleted the game, even though I also chose to delete the save games, they were NOT deleted. I conctacted GOG Support, and asked for the location of those save files and found out that they resided in C:\Users\User\Appdata\Terrible Toybox\Thimbleweed Park.(I have Win 10). I then deleted all the save files in that folder. That way I started playing the newest version with a clean slate. BTW, I just found a pretty good WT from GAMEFAQS while I was googling "Thimbleweed Park Walkthrough", although I followed a different WT playing this game the first time. ENJOY!

Mad,
After installing the newest version from GOG, I tried to install the patch, but, I got a message saying that the game was already upgraded, which means that if you have the latest version, the patch is already incorporated. I hope you enjoy this game as much as I have.
