Thanks Jenny for the link & flotsam for a review that I very much agreed with. I too was very disappointed with the ending but can't deny that I was also 'awestruck' by it! The game itself was so engaging up to that point I can't help thinking, although I'm not a great fan of them, that the developers should have included the option of alternative endings? smile

Thank you, flotsam thumbsup And Jenny100 smile I just LOVE this game happydance

I haven't reached the end yet though because I had to take a massive break from it when "life" intervened and so I got rather behind.

Despite many releases being advertised as "like the Monkey Island games" none have ever turned out to be anywhere near as good as those in that fabulous series.
But of course, THIS one definitely HAS - because it bears Ron Gilbert's exclusive magic touch !!!! dance dance

Thanks, Jenny! It sounds like an amusing and fun bit of nostalgia. I would buy this one just on the basis of your review, and I don't do that lightly.

At home I'm an under toilet roll person but at work I'm an over toilet roll person. Not entirely sure why. There are under roll people at my job and sometimes I change it to over. At home I prefer under. Grew up with it that way.

If you get a new cat and it discovers the toilet paper, you may become an "under" person -- at least until the cat is trained. It's harder for them to unroll the whole thing when it's coming from under.

After 12 years, I'm still not allowed to have a toilet paper holder on the wall - over or under! She will shred it either way - the only thing under did was keep it from being all the floor in a huge pile. Instead it was shredded right on the holder - you wouldn't believe how huge a shredded roll of toilet paper can get. I had nice little cabinets where the toilet paper is kept out of her reach. This included paper towels - heaven forbid I should leave one of those within her reach!

Your cat is a lot more aggressive than ours was. We had a bathroom full of toilet paper the first time, but she lost interest quickly when we turned the paper over -- a little shredding of surface layers, then nothing.

Over or under: Why and To What Purpose? A suitable small conundrum for Ron Gilbert and this game of games which I am trying to make last as long as possible.

I hadn't factored in the cat impact.
I am a dog person, so perhaps that's the correlation lab

When the dogs are puppies, I'm a put the toilet paper out of reach person.

Re: flotsam's review of Thimbleweed Park - 07/01/17 04:48 PM

Thanks flotsam and Jenny. This is a very enjoyable game, and though it's not as high on my personal list as Blackwell Epiphany and Technobabylon, it is way up there as far as retro adventure games go. thumbsup I'll probably even add it to my list as a new entry this year. praise While I didn't like the ending (I had a very similar "problem" with The Whispered World), the game itself is fantastic. There is so much intricacy in the world, and I found all of the characters highly entertaining and likable (including the clown lol). They have even updated the game now, so the playable characters can talk to one another. woot

Oh, and I am definitely a "toilet paper over" person. I have two cats that will definitely unroll it if given the opportunity, but I just keep the bathroom door closed, and that takes care of that issue. grin

Maybe if I let the dogs have the toilet roll they would stop "reading" and "watching" (aka chewing) my books and dvds. mad
If they ever "play"one of my games ... shame taz

Maybe they're trying to tell you something. My cats seem to get into watching TV sometimes, one of them especially likes watching animals on there.
