Hi Bluto, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey is the sequel and Dreamfall Chapters was another part of the saga.

Ragnar Tornquist once said that he didn't consider Dreamfall to be a true sequel to TLJ, and that he wanted to make a true TLJ2 some day. That day has never happened and we will probably never see a game that is a true TLJ2 that follows what happened to April and Crow after TLJ. At best he'll write a novelization or something.
Just because a game takes place in the same gameworld as a previous game doesn't make it a sequel.

I can't seem to find the interview with Ragnar Tornquist where I originally read him stating that Dreamfall wasn't meant to be a TLJ2, and that TLJ2 would be a different game. It was over 10 years ago, so it's possible it disappeared (like so much information on the Internet disappears over time).
