Publisher Iceberg Interactive and developer Darkling Room announce Silent Night, a new stand-alone installment in the Crown ghost-hunting adventure franchise.

Silent Night is the first game in the series to be presented in 3D and is due to be released December 2018 for PC.

The transformation to 3D can be admired in the following teaser trailer:

Silent Night is a spooky festive tale, set at Northfield Church during an endless Christmas Eve. Beyond the Church, the Carrion Woods await, where the wood-dwellers still haunt the pines and rocky places. Nigel Danvers, ghost-hunter, encounters the spirits that rise when the North Wind doth blow, bringing heavy snow.

Northfield is haunted by the terrible Winter of 1349, when the Black Death swept across the land, killing over two thirds of the population. The plague was silent, invisible and deadly. Everyone was blamed, from witches to wood folk, as the once kind people of Northfield turned on each other. T'was the night before Christmas, and all through the church, plenty was stirring, especially the ghosts. To break the trap and escape, Nigel must make a terrible decision on the loneliest night of the year.

Jonathan Boakes, creator and writer of the Crown franchise:
“I'm very pleased to be moving the Crown games in a new direction. It's been refreshing to move the ghost-hunting games to full 3D. All the new whizzes and bangs of 3D have given us new vigour, with lots to look forward to. Wrap up warm, the Carrion Woods await.

The main star of the game is Northfield Church, which has been painstakingly recreated inside and out, with full exploration. The church is based on Duloe Church, just up the road from me, here in Cornwall, so it was a nice job to capture both textures and actual photogrammetry of the site.”

Wishlist Silent Night on Steam now to be notified when the game releases.

Happy Gaming!

I'm happy to hear that there will be a point and click option of playing if you don't want to play in the 3D mode. Other than that, I agree with the comments above mine. I still haven't found the enthusiasm to play Midnight Horror even though I do have it downloaded. Starting to lose interest in a way, but not really giving up.

I hope you didn't cringe Ana, when you posted this.

Looking forward to playing this one eventually. I read on Jonathan Boakes' blog that he's hoping Blackenrock will be out before the end of the year. I hope so!

Yes. It's like Midnight Horror -- nice to have SOMEthing, but
I'd rather have the much-delayed Blackenrock or Last Crown.
Alas they've been mired in feature creep from the abyss.

I don't care about point-and-click as long as it's 3rd person and doesn't give me motion sickness.
I really can't tell which it is from that trailer.

Just nice to have options, in case. It's the motion sickness I worry about too, so we'll see.

Great news, thanks, Ana! bravo Those are beautiful screenshots as well.

I saw the blog post written by Jonathan Boakes also. That's great that he hopes to release Blackenrock before Silent Night. Here's hoping this will be the year we'll finally get to play it. yes

Hi Everyone .... a Quick question about Silent Night ... I see it can be played on windows 7 ...( wish I could Upgrade Money wise I cant) .... I was wondering Since I do not love-even-like Killing games ..... is this a kill the ghosts type of game? and if yes are there "Other" kinds of point and click that has a story and interaction going on without having to dagger-gun etc. someone down as Im 70 I really never Liked those kinds of games frown sorry ...but Im an adventurer not a killer Thank you

Re: Darkling Room Announces a new Addition to the Crown Franchise - Silent Night - 09/23/18 04:35 PM

I don't think there is going to be any killing or violence in this game. Have you played The Lost Crown? I think it will be more like that.

I agree, dianne. They have Jonathan's earlier games but they still don't have Midnight Horror. I wish the new ones would come to GOG.

Re: Darkling Room Announces a new Addition to the Crown Franchise - Silent Night - 09/26/18 12:46 AM

Leeana, what do you mean? Did your game freeze?

Diane and Marian, I agree! I wish the Crown games were available through GOG. I did install the Steam version on a computer without Steam to test it, however, and it ran without issue. So it is something you can save to a USB and keep for yourself if you want to. thumbsup

I noticed that the Darkling Room website of Silent Night was updated yesterday. There's a Snow Globe on the site that can be downloaded. Jonathan also indicated on Facebook that there should be a new announcement on soon (Monday).
