Incubus and other Darkling Room Updates - 08/23/23 01:44 PM

Incubus planned release date September 4th. You’ll have a devil of a time solving the case, and discovering the nature of the INCUBUS. 👹

Check out Incubus here.

INCUBUS - Out Sept. 4th, on the Store, with other digital platforms to follow.

You are on your first solo ghost hunting case, under the watchful instructions of Bear and Jen from the O.P.G paranormal team. Use real gadgets in a real location, a house investigated by the game developers several times, on the request of three different owners. It is a case worthy of a video game, so welcome to Incubus.

Full 360 exploration and soundtrack recorded on location.
Puzzles and ghost identification.
Experience a haunting based on eye witness accounts.
Completely AI driven phenomena, the ghosts are aware!
A complete story, with a satisfying conclusion.
What makes a haunted house? It's no Dracula's Castle to look at, but neither is the house made famous by the Enfield Poltergeist or the scary monk that haunts the seemingly innocent looking 30 East Drive. Keep an open mind, investigate the house, and see and hear what ghosts may linger at 6 Dread Pit Road, in London's 'East End'.

Summer Update: 🍂 Summer is drawing to a close, by all appearances, so like many goths, ghouls and game devs, I find myself looking forward to ‘spooky season’. In Britain, that means Autumn and Winter, with fire festivals, Mabon, Montol, Equinox, Samhain, Solstice, ‘ghost story for Christmas’ and others.

We also get more time over these months to do some indie game development in our free time. Looking ahead, I’ve got some games in progress, before our next big jobs. Here’s a line up:

Incubus - asap as it’s ready to go! 👻

I’m looking to get some localisations for that game too, especially German and Italian, and hopeful for more. It’s a text-lite game, so will work well in other languages, as it’s all about the phenomena.

👑A Lost Crown mini adventure - Something short set in Saxton. It’s my 50th Birthday on November 7th, so I’d like to celebrate with Nigel in my favourite place. 👑 🍻 I’ve been a game dev since 1998, ten or so games, so it’ll be good to celebrate in style.

December - Lammana - a big Lovecraftian adventure set locally here in Looe and the mysterious island, set in 1924. I made this game during Covid and I absolutely love it! Spooky game too, and likely to appeal to Crown fans, as there’s a similar style in play.

🕯️ Silent Night - Back to Crown with a new determination to release this game. As a demo, most wanted point and click back and some Saxton scenes, so that was all added. We’ll need a few weeks on that one, so deffo a Winter project. 🥶

That’s also when Matt wants to look at the epically late ‘Blackenrock’ too, so I’ll request people stop asking about it, as the endless negative comments and whining (from a few) doesn’t really help encourage activity on that game. For real. We’ve got jobs, so any game content is indie dev. Keep that in mind when posting about my games.
After that, it’s likely we’ll be starting our first big jobs of the year, but looking forward to getting these games done. 🤓

Great news, Ana! Thanks for posting this! SO glad they included the last paragraph about getting fed up with "negative comments and whining..." EXACTLY!

I notice that 'Incubus' is now available, but is a Steam key required or can it be played without, as if it was available on GOG. There's no mention of any key being supplied on their sales site... unless I've missed it? ETA - Sorry... A Steam key is mentioned but I'm still not sure if one is required before playing the game?

On his website, it says this:

Quote
Note: All orders for Incubus from the Shadow Tor Store (Before the Steam Release) can request a Steam Key - when the game is released on Steam your requested key will be emailed to you. Details in purchase.

It sounds like you can order from the store and request a Steam Key if you like, but that otherwise a key is not necessary. That's my take, anyway.
